As someone who's always had a big booming voice and very strong enunciation you're not only blowing my mind on voice over tips, but on life-long social dynamics.
I read somewhere that a study was done where they tracked whether or not patients followed doctor's orders. Patients were *less likely* to follow orders if the doctor had a baritone voice! The theory is it made them feel like a child being bossed by their father.

Hi Bill - thank you for this video. I'm a small art channel (?) - I'm a creator with a small art channel ( that reads better ) I was a complete beginner at filming, editing and audio. Over time I've picked up a ton of tips. But your channel has given me so many more. I've had loads of compliments on my voice overs. I leave in small slips and fluffs and don't script my work as I think this makes me sound mechanical. Just my take on things. But sounding like a real person passionate about my subject is what I think makes all the difference. Thank you once again 😃😃😎😎

Watched this video after doing two auditions tonight for bodalgo. Wasn’t happy with them and watched this video as I remember seeing it before.
Did the last audition and tried to feel what I was saying, slowing the delivery and smile in the voiceover. Half an hour later, thumbs up. I have been shortlisted out of 95 auditions so far.

Seriously such great advice. I'm new in the VO world and I already made $3,000 from Upwork gigs! I couldn't believe it. And the feedback I've gotten is that I come across really personable. The quality of the sound--yes--gotta have it (and mine is totally DIY since I'm just starting out). But the convice-ability of what you're saying--man, it really does seem to be key. GREAT video.

Totally agree. My question is How we can embarque the emotion and feelings? I mean like if me as beginniner, how can I work with those emotions.
Slowing down is the hardest thing for me.
I have a huge problem with mumbling and slurring (that's why i was initially getting into VO, for voice training) , and the faster i try to talk, the worse it gets. But as soon as there is a mic in front of me, i always get faster and faster and i have to throw away take after take after take.
Completely understand that. It's a tough one to get down, but just take it one day at a time. Techniques like this don't just automatically click right away. :-)

I would just add that big, boomy etc aren't bad at all. There are plenty of jobs that benefit from those qualities, especially character parts, and always will be. It's just that it's not worth faking if you don't have a naturally big voice to begin with. Because you CAN'T fake it without losing authenticity and, imo sound quality too. Ultimately you will sound like a person trying too hard, and unless that's the character you're going for, you're better off being truer to yourself.

I recorded my voice on Xbox gamebar, but for some reason, the videos chunky. I'm using Wondershare Filmora to record the audio now and gaming headphones plugged into a Dell G7 on Windows 11 to record my voice but it still sounds like nothing short of crap despite being not choppy. What do I do?
4:00 you say that... but pretty much every pro audiobook and voiceover I hear speaks that way...
This transition started in radio in the '70's with Steve Dahl. The Robert W. Morgan deep bass sound started going out. The WWII generation trusted authority, but the anti-war Baby Boomers didn't want an authoritative voice coming at them. They liked Dahl's reedy sound and unrestrained burps, etc. This evolved into "shock jocks."

I checked the link below your video for the whisper room and it's really very expensive especially for the beginners!!! Would you make a video for the beginners on how to cut ambient noise by simple way or cheapest way? Also please would you advise if microphone isolation shield is good for noise isolation like cars sound and similar sounds? And can you recommend perfect isolataion shield with affordable price if it's really good? Many thanks and have a great day.
You could try to utilize heavyweight moving blankets draped over PVC piping. Hope this helps.

@@tinkertime577 Really it's helpful. What about the AC Opens can I cover it also by a heavyweight blanket? Do you have any helpful idea or tool how I can use it to hang the heavyweight blanket over there?? Many thanks.
Maro Maro If you are referring to air conditioning vent blocking, I would record while AC is off if possible. Did that address your issue?

I've always wanted to get into voice acting for animation unfortunately I live in Ohio and everything's in Cleveland.
The nature of an AM radio signal actually works so that a deep bass voice can extend the signal range. A station with a fairly deep bass dj can reach more audience. This is not true of an FM radio signal.
