Thanks for checking out the video everyone! If you're interested in voice acting, check out my fully comprehensive academy at learnvoiceacting.com/youtube ! There's a free 20 minute training there if you sign up for the email list.
Gotta say, your voice acting academy changed my life. Now I’m actively working towards getting gigs instead of saying “it’ll happen someday” Love all the content, Joe. Thanks for all you do!
Im watching this at the age of 12, I want to be a voice actor in the future and these type of videos rlly help, even if Im gonna actually start doing it in years. tysm for all the great tips :D
Follow your dream…and work hard to get there. Try talking like the voices of different characters, or even an interesting voice you hear randomly in a park or supermarket. Try reading chapters out loud of a book you liked, and that offers a range of emotions…without losing character. Collect voices by recording every time you are practicing and refining any voice you want in your toolkit. Don’t forget to include animals who can talk…or even insects. Enjoy the journey.🖤🇨🇦
Follow your dream pal, don’t give up, no matter how hard the journey is and perhaps one day all that hard work and struggle of yours will pay off. Good luck 👍
The only real "coaching" I got before I booked my first gig was waaaay back in radio broadcasting school (trade school, not college) in the early 90's! I have always been one that "thinks outside the box"!
Clear, concise, constructive advice Joe. It’s great to see a professional VOA giving back some of the experience that’s gained from all your hard work. 👍
I'm watching this on the 21st of November. Thank you for being a passionate and supportive guy! I think you are talented and losing yourself by helping others is a great way to connect with everyone :) Thank you again for making all of this possible!
Hearing "there is no defined checklist" really opened my eyes. I have signed up for classes and have a 'plan' as to how I'll "Become a Voice Actor" When in reality. I realized I could start today, and be empowered by that
There is one FB group in particular (maybe more) that you should stay away from, as there are many members who have anointed themselves as the VO industry "elitists" (some call them the "gatekeepers") and are full of nothing but negative comments- I don't think the primary admin of that group even does any voice over work, because he seems to have so much time on his hands to just drag others down!
Yep, most people focus far too much time on the craft and 0 time on getting work. This means cold contacting and making USEFUL, organic connections. It's arguably more important than anything else because you don't technically need any training to start working, though it is of course optimal.
Interesting take on the editing! I’ve heard the complete opposite from the program I received my training. Is it ok to submit a completely raw unedited audition?
I I fortunately do not have money. If I did I would love to pay for your academy. Shoot. Some people say I already have a good voice for voice acting. I did train my voice for 3 years afterall. I hope to attend your academy one day ^^
I have no training, no experience, I got an excellent mic even if it hasn’t got a boom arm, I got the council wanting me to pay them £5000 wish me luck!

Me too.

While I can’t afford the course right now, I will save for it, as voice acting is something I would like to do.
Claude getting that bank! I usually NEVER click ad videos but loved Ziega in Fire Emblem 3 Houses! I wonder, can he sing Edge of Dawn? 🤔

This is incredible information. I’m a go getter and create my own stuff and always have, but I want to take my life to a new level.

Always love learning from Joe!! Thank you for the help!!
Caught your post. Great info and a good reminder. Thanks.
I make art with my hands, not with my horribly distinct voice, but I still find these tidbits interesting!
Sometimes a distinct voice is just what someone needs to hear! 🫶🏻
Thank you, Joe, for providing such enlightening and experience based knowledge. This information and help is greatly appreciated.
This is actually great, good job
