I remember watching Letterman and this popped up. Luckily my trusty VCR was always on the ready and caught it. Killer rendition of their groundbreaking track from 1964. 👍🇭🇲
Some people are ragging on this arrangement. How many times has Ray Davies played this song? He'd go crazy if he never played it with new arrangements. Of course I love the original recording, but I also appreciate hearing what he wanted to do with it, what was new and interesting _to him_.
Of course it's Ray Davies' song to do with as he sees fit. When you write anything as timeless and brilliant, you can wrap it in mothballs to preserve its original presentation as you see fit. That's the beauty of it all.
Ray Davies one of the greatest artists in pop history
It really got me
me too
The drummer was far out. I loved this version!

Loved this
Ray starts with the guitar intro to Powerman-nice.
Who’s the guy playing guitar? Thank you.
The great Bill Shanley (he also played with Ray during the closing ceremonies of the Olympics)
which one is larry davies?
El baterista en vez de tocar, le pega a la batería. No tiene sentido tocar asi
love this song.just not this version.
I love Ray Davies but this is terrible. 😢
How to destroy a classic...pompous, tacky arrangement that completely distorts the song
Yeah I didn't make it long. Would rather not here it at all.
Lighten up Francis

Agreed. That was awful.
