That burning battery looks great for the environment.
Actually it’s like a deodorant for NY streets!
They’re gonna save the world!!!
zero emissions lmao
Absolutely not.
Not funny.
People aren’t responsible enough to dispose of batteries properly
Unfortunately true!
That's the whole gist of it. Mankind SUCKS ASS.
Which is 99.9% of people
Lack of education about it too tho lol
Duh...
But yea, let's force everyone to go electric...🤔
Yeah.
This city is a total dumpster...err garbage truck fire.
Then why are rents record high and vacancies record low?
@@duckmercy11 Housing is a complex issue...many of the hipsters and young people with $ looking for adventure pay top dollar for an unsafe shithole. Once they get assaulted & raped they usually move back home but their are hundreds ready to take their place thinking Sex & the City/ Friends is nyc reality...
It was actually New York City instead.
I saw the burning garbage truck and thought this was another Harris campaign ad
Lithium batteries are in cellphones, laptop, headphones, vapes, watches and many other everyday items. Guess this city is not that bright because everything has Lithium batteries
It comes from DISPOSABLE vapes my man.
@@samholdsworth420 Just because they are CALLED "disposable" does not mean they actually are.
@@rgarito I know...we should be holding the manufacturers responsible imo
@@samholdsworth420 They do, by mandating that those who sell the batteries take back the old ones (for free). But you cannot put a gun to consumers' heads (at least in America) to force them to bring back the old batteries for recycling.
@@rgarito 99% of people just throw disposable Vapes on the floor.
The amount of industrial waste for someone to vape vegetable glycerol is amazing
Wait till the landfill fires up !!!!
WAIT TILL EVERY CAR , TRUCK ON THE ROAD IS A EV
KABOOOM!
WE GOT NO MORE WATER
The last thing you want is a flaming pile of garbage in the street 😂
I'm dead 😂
@@snowbunny426with a host of hazards in the streets, is it really the last thing on the list?
@spacedout3233 In other words, Velma (2023).
Nah, it's NYC. No one would notice or care.
Do you mean electric vehicles?
So who said that electric vehicles can save air pollution vs gas vehicles?
Make them worth $100 recycling rebate per battery. You won’t have to worry about it again.
LI batteries aren't safe. Better chemistry alternatives are needed.
I once made a battery out of a potato once. They should look into that.
When you think up something better, let someone know!
Nickel cadmium. The only downside is that its expensive.
I knew this was going to start happening more and more often. Now what?
A little disturbing how they’ve put those batteries in almost every electronic device and without thinking it would become a problem.
They know that's why they have warning on all devices that have lithium batteries. People need to quit being lazy and read the warnings/instructions.
This isn't the giants corporations fault. It's the user fault.
"It's awfully stinky all of a sudden" 😂😂😂
DONT THROW YOUR BATTERYS IN THE GARBAGE
OK MISTER I WONT
I JUST THROW THEM IN THE HUDSON RIVER
No one would actually notice that. NYC residents are used to foul stenches all the time.
🤷♂️
If li-ion batteries are going to become a daily part of our way of life we need much better infrastructure and systems to deal with every aspect of their use. If li-ion battery recycling isn’t fast, easy and convenient people won’t do it. The garbage bin is fast, easy and convenient.
How about we invest money into carbon batteries instead. Or go back to Nickel batteries.
I agree, some scrap yards will pay you for them.
They need to ban these batteries and them damn electric cars. Don't these people see how much trouble they have been in a short amount of time ?
You plan on giving up your cell phone, laptop, and vape? EV batteries are not disposed of in the trash....
@@rgarito cell phone and vape, no no, never give those up. I charge mine in a fireproof charging box. EV batteries not thrown in trash, they trash themselves it's all the water used to put them out and air quality.
Ban those batteries in the U.S.!
No crack down on the Chinese batteries
We actually need them because our phones, computers, and electronics, headphones, watches and many other everyday items use lithium batteries. If it wasn’t for lithium batteries, u wouldn’t be watching this or commenting under this video right now.
that's literally impossible. every portable electronics have lithium-based batteries
How will you use your phone?
@@kylestruble6568 I barely use it now. Let's go back to landlines.
Living the dream in NYC.
ban Lithium-ion batteries!
The phone you are typing your dogshit comment on uses a lithium ion battery
So... Ban all smartphones?
I totally agree, but it should be a voluntary band. Please turn in your cell phones and electronic devices. I think this will greatly enhance the experience of others on the Internet 😂
I agree, the lithium-ion batteries are dangerous, because could explode if punctured, placed in the water.
They need to fine whoever throws lithium batteries in the trash. But also have a better way to recycle them, some scrap yards will pay for them because they can reuse the valuable elements from them.
It's too difficult to bring to these drop off sites. We should have local recycling like they have in Europe
Cities need to make it easier to recycle batteries. If there is no streamlined way to get them recycled of course they'll end up in the trash....
CHEAP CHINEESE JUNK
THANK YOU HARRIS
Has nothing to do with Chinese OR Harris. ALL Lion batteries will catch fire when crushed. And they've been in use in electronics since long before Harris was even a politician.
Don't forget biden, hochul, and the rest of the epa
The truth is the lack of recycling centers that take disposals of used lithium batteries from the public are nearly non-existent.
Ya, the crackhead using the e scooter with second-hand battery really cares about recycling
Those dummies thought you could have an advanced 3rd world society lol
Advanced 3rd world society any day now...
This is what happens when they get wet or put under pressure (smashed). So think about it when you wreak your EV in the rain
If only those in possession of Lithium Ion batteries, were diligent enough to transport them to those special sites on Saturdays.
Cities could make recycling convenient with mobile collection services. Oh, wait... It's already a thing... garbage trucks ;-)
Why is because there is few proper disposable sites for LI batteries .
There should be places everywhere that sell them should take them back for recycling
@@RDM3DLABevery place that sells them is required to take them back
@@Katiesmith9119 That whats I thought
@@Katiesmith9119 But they usually won't take back batteries they don't sell, even if they're supposed to by law. What are you going to do, go to court and spend thousands of dollars to make them respect the law?
Anyone who is selling disposable lithium devices should also dispose of them or give easy means .
I can’t imagine how many of these batteries already made it to the landfill. Time will tell when they test the ground water.
The world is a dumpster fire
Ban the bikes they’re dangerous to the public
How about making it illegal to manufacture any devices that do not have an easily removable / replaceable battery so it can be recycled?? This problem started with companies like Apple and Google! Lithium batteries in phones used to be easily removable in all phones!! Now it is exclusively for those of us with a Samsung Xcover phone or similar.
Banning them in "disposable" vapes would be a great start, too.
When I used to live in nyc, I always got worried when scooters were inside restraunt.
All batteries should have a 500% return deposit in order to keep them out of the garbage.
Face the facts, lithium ion batteries are bad for the environment. I'll take smog, please
@drinny26 why don't you buy 500% of the world's crack pipes ?
@Detroittruckdoctor55 Breathing is also bad for the e environment so stop doing it.
@@Dennis-p2l YOU FIRST, ASSSHHATT

The unintended consequences of going green.
All the “disposable” vapes
@@signal66frr
Make nerds lame again
Li-Ion batteries in electronics have nothing to do with "going green." They have to do with having a cell phone with the processing power of yesterday's supercomputer and a battery that lasts more than 5 minutes.
I don’t want new neighbors with EVs without special insurance …it’s irresponsible to have a bomb in the garage, with the battery’s aging the cells become weak and spread to the rest of the battery, cleanup requires hazmat……nope😏☠️
Buy a house if you want to regulate the people who share or rent in the property you live. You can't tell someone who they can and can't have in the home ,tyan you can't tell someone what they can have in thier home.
how about we ban hot water tanks too since they can be a hazard?
On the positive side of the battery at least it reduces the waste going into Landfill
Aren’t you supposed to recycle the batteries and not throw them in the trash? Lithium is toxic.
Ban these batteries.
Ban the China Bomb batteries.
Doesn't matter who makes them. If crushed, a Li-Ion battery WILL catch fire.
@@rgarito Perhaps you should check UL standards for batteries.
@@ChrisL-oz4lp I'm pretty sure, as an electrical engineer, I know a lot more about battery standards than you do.
@@rgarito So China bombs have the same build quality as UL listed US batteries?
It isn't because they're made in China, it's the companies who buy factory rejected batteries and relabel them to pass them off as safe, new batteries.
Thisll become more commonplace sadly if people dont know how to properly dispose of batteries, if they even could in their area- it does make me wonder if the local Batterys+ can recycle batteries? Only went there one time
People refuse to read labels
These damn things need to stop being made ,toxic ,dangerous and damaging the environment.all about the money is what drives greedy manufacturing
Adams has put a solution into motion. He has created a division to research lithium batteries and why they cause fires. The newly formed group consists of 30-50 employees. (All close friends/family and those he owes favors to). They hope to learn why batteries explode and cause fires within the next 5 years
they need special battery recyling trash pickups. li-ion batteris are in everything these days. most people don't know where to recycle them or don't have places to take it too.
How are people this dumb to dump batteries in garbage??
MY CELL PHONE CORD
THE CORD MELTED ,LUCKY IT WASNT THE AC PLUG PART
TRASHED BOTH OF THEM
NOW IM SCARED
We know..We called them as fake batteries.
Don’t throw it out and there won’t be a fire
Stop smoking weed on the job and stop blaming batteries
I used to take old batteries to the library. They r no longer accept it.
They ask me to toss it in trash.
Not regular batteries.... They don't start fires. Li-Ion batteries (like cell phone and laptop batteries and those that are in "disposable" vapes).
hahaha And this is just the begining!
so dont crush them.
There’s a reason why on the battery it says don’t throw away and recycle them at the proper location.
God it’s as if we should put warnings on them about this stuff oh wait there is 😂.
The E. P. A will put a tacks on this and we will pay and then our kids will pay
It’s okay Kathy Hochul fixed the problem remember?
Problem isn’t the batteries, it’s the idiots throwing batteries in places they shouldn’t
Well until you come up with a better way to dispose of batteries, I'll keep tossing that shit into the trash and let landfill worry about it. If it mattered that much to them, they'd have come up with solutions decades ago when these batteries came out. They haven't meaning the issue isn't as big a deal like claimed.
Pollutes being made and pollutes going away. And people put them on airplanes.
Pay me $$$ to return the battery and I won't throw it away.
Better: Make you pay a FINE when you throw it away.
It's China Green .
It's all about saving the environment right!!! LOL.
Someone i know bought a used Tesla. Good they don't live near me.😢😢
WOW
NOT that im saying to do it.. BUT sometimes to get attention to a problem to fix it you need to make it worse.
this may be some are doing? OR maybe theres just more out there causing more of these happening globally?
How can we dispose lithium ion batteries safely?
Bring them back to where you bought them--they are required to take them back for recycling in most areas.
@@rgarito I think that would be the safest option.
@@liamwatson5125 Sadly, too many people are too lazy to do that, though. Easier to just throw them in the trash...
@@rgarito They don’t realize that lithium ion batteries are hazardous waste.
I don't know what DSNY actually does with them, but for now, bring them to those special waste drop-off sites
BTW, besides Saturdays, they are also open on the last Friday of every month.
And don't forget about the SAFE events. DSNY hosts SAFE (Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, and Electronics) Disposal events every year.
Rather than put a link here, I'd just say do a search of DSNY SAFE to find out about them. They are coming up this month.
One blew up in the subway in Toronto on New Years Eve
And then another I seen a few years ago just cought on fire 🔥 in some lady's 👛
If you're gonna get rid of your lithium batteries🔋 go to the mobile stpre and they're take care if it for you.

Ebikes are bad for the environment. Lets ban ebikes! ok?
What was the point in saying the truck has cameras? It doesn't prevent batteries from being in the trash; it's so the driver has fewer blind spots while driving.
These cameras show the driver what they are picking up (these cameras are NOT aimed at the traffic).
@@rgarito i have the same cameras in my trash truck they're for blind spots the laborers should know if something doesn't belong in the trash truck
@@robmoney4life Most trash trucks in America no longer have someone manually throwing bags into the hopper, so there is no "laborer" in the back loading the trash. They use a robot arm with the driver never leaving the cab. So not the same cameras you are referring to. They ALSO have blind spot cameras but those are not the ONLY cameras these trucks have.
@@rgarito the truck they are talking about has laborers that throw the trash plus rear loader trash trucks can not operate without human laborers 😑
