Louie Anderson was a great personality I was a limo driver in Las Vegas at the Rio hotel I drove Louie Anderson many Times he was a gentleman he was generous and he was one of the best celebrity personalities that I had ever been involved with he was compassionate and he had a brother that he was very concerned about who had some personal issues I love these stories! And yes I Did Drive Louie Anderson too many of his late night gaming session
Is it just me or did Louie seemed more thrilled about winning the $20k at the casino over the $250k cheque for the ad!? That's gambling for ye, rarely it's about the money. Great story though, I love Louie
Louie was a gambler alright. I played cards with him and Jeff Cesario in 1981. I was a volunteer at St. Joe's Children home where Louie worked pre-comedy and I lived with 2 of his fellow workers (Jim and Tom). Louie and Jeff would come over often after a comedy set and we'd play into the wee hours. and laugh...god would we laugh. Louie didn't drink, but he could stay up all night playing cards. HE LOVED PLAYING CARDS!! I'll miss his presence and always remember, as good a comedian he was - he was an even better child care worker. Louie cared about people. RIP my friend
He was truly a legend. An expert story teller, even sitting here just shooting the breeze with these guys, he has an excellent sense of timing. He just knows what he's doing.
I knew WHO he was by image and voice, but now that he's passed and I'm watching his material, I wish I would have paid attention before....a comedic master at storytelling. RIP Louie
My sister used to work at a casino in Minnesota and Louie would do shows there and then come out on the floor to gamble. She would tell me that he would sit at slot machines for _hours_ looking like the walking dead, unkempt, with glazed eyes. He was nice, but she felt sorry for him. He was a mess. Good to see he's surviving this addiction.
I'm pretty sure that I saw him playing high-limit video poker at the Venetian back in about 2000. It's easy enough to mistake video poker for a slot machine if you're [playing at one of the slant-top machines without an overhead display.
He must have had some serious demons he was trying to slay. Any kind of addictions is a cruel master. Cannot imagine the hold gambling must have on people
@@dougstyles if you win it’s “now I can play with that money I just won it doesn’t matter if I lose it” & if you lose, it’s “fuck I gotta get that money back then I’ll cash out!”
Gambling Addiction is the worst. Im 100% sure after he got that check from ad . He blew it all at Casino. The circle never end that is why more gamblers died each year from suicide than any other addiction. #fact
I always loved Lewis Black's take on gambling, specifically slot machines in Vegas: "What you do is you rent a motel room and you go into the bathroom with a bucket full of quarters and you keep flushing down quarters until it backs up and you get some of your money back and YOU FEEL LIKE A WINNER!!!!!"
I dropped $5K in a week. For me, that is a fortune, but it was out of savings, not scared money. Still. It hurt. I have not been in a casino except to eat in the last three years. I'm just sick - and every time I am tempted, I think about what that money could have been used for. I hope everyone who suffers from the addiction can beat it. Professional help is also available for those who are wrestling with it. Just saying. Lives get better without addictions.
I'm making a videogame about gambling addiction and I love this kind of story... Fucking gambling sucks man, most of the time people don't tell their real stories. "I lost 80k and then another 100k and then..."
When i was a kid i took ceasars palace for snes. Would bet it all on blackjack. If i won, id save the game. If i lost id reset. Eventully i had billions of fake money and none of the games were fun anymore after that
Is gambling more destructive than most drugs? Seems worse than alcohol; and it's all mental, no physical harm. That comes later when Guido wants the money you owe.
u can reset yourself easyier from drugs then if u owe money due to gambling , the feeling of losing it all after made me not go loco when gambling anymore but still its something in your head u cant stop
Jesus Christ I cried over losing 580 dollars putting 20 bucks in slot machines... I don’t know how I could live with myself if I lost 80 grand!! Edit: RIP Louie God... I loved this man and I am happy I got to see him live before he died.
Robert Lewis --- that gets old for them, just like Paul Reubens of Pee Wee Herman fame, their routines get old, and they get stuck in same old roles and stereotypes. He isn't hurting financially.
+Dunstin Checksin I think the best way to play is set aside however much u can live with throwing away. Then just play small to mid games most of the week and just enjoy the games. Last day you're there you play the final big 3 games. Half your stack on one hand, win or lose you put the rest on another hand (even roll or spin). If you're lucky enough to have a chance at the final bet you put entire stack on black. Time. To. Leave. Hopefully with a huge smile :D
Damnit, I can relate, except for the Commercial because, Not Famous. lol. This is such a sad story really, and he sounds like every gambler I've ever met. I got 80,000, but I could have 100,000 thousand!
Oh yeah, I started out mopping the floor just like you guys. Then I moved up to washing lettuces. Now, I'm working the fat fryer. Pretty soon I'll be flipping the burgers , and that's when the big bucks start rolling in.
RIP Louie YOU WILL BE MISSED..
Courageous guy from top to bottom. Louie's entire life took
lots of guts.

Lol..I was thinking that. That's the brain of a compulsive gambler.
He won $98,000 he started with $2,000.
"Money won is twice as sweet as money earned." - "Fast" Eddie Felson - The Color of Money
That was his point. Why he kept mentioning the sickness
"money won is much sweeter than money earned"

You are a good friend to remind us all what a kind heart Louie Anderson had. And you are right. He is missed....
Cannot imagine hanging out with Louie and the comedy gold he was dropping in addition he must have dropped untold thousands of dollars on gambling.
That devious look on his face at 3:06 remembering when he got up to $90k really says it all about gambling addiction. Reminds me of Uncut Gems.
He had the money to lose. RIP YOU LOVING MAN

Louie’s betting 10k per hand, he must’ve finally made assistant manager at McDowells
Unlimited strawberry milkshakes!
😂😂😂😂 when he finally got to the fries, that took him to the top
That's when you make the big bucks.
Just two years huh?
Dude you just made me realize that was him

Same can be said in life I suppose eh? Paying attention etc. Too deep for a

Eating, sex disorders, and gambling disorders often coincide… when I realized casinos cater to all three I got so disgusted I haven’t been back since

Great story. Always a great story teller and comedian.

What a perfect guest the last two days. Stories that make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Love Louie, hope he comes back soon!

This interview is a commercial for gambling. i thought the video would teach a lesson about the dangers of gambling because he lost the money... Lol
Great story. He was a funny man.

Read John Daly's memoir for some more gambling stories.
Spot on!!!
It was a challenge for Norm MacDonald too.
Louis told stories so well. This one is so fun.

Thanks for the laughs big guy
this story gives me panic attacks lol
As an ex gambler it is
Omg I was ready to lay down now my heart's going a mile a minute.smh fml
Gambling addiction is almost impossible to recover from. It takes years to build up the non-gambling muscle and atrophy the gambling muscle.
Mike C. - if you want to quit you can do it. There is help out there and you need a good support system from friends and family.

Awesome gambling comeback, Louie!! I have a friend Paul who lives in LA, and he has a few Vegas stories that are very interesting as well!!
I thought something was going to happen to the money. Good to hear a story where something works out. We miss you, Louie.
That's the funniest part.... Lol... He made his money back!? Rediculous.
I was so hoping this story would end well. Made me so nervous. Glad he won.
@Shlomo Shekelstein this is why drugs are a better addiction. They usually still get you high. Even when you’re losing you still win
I used to see him at Santa Anita racetrack in the late 80's
Was he blowing jockeys?
Is gambling more destructive than most drugs? Seems worse than alcohol; and it's all mental, no physical harm. That comes later when Guido wants the money you owe.

Changes brain chemistry. Gambling is as addictive as must drugs.
It is the WORST of all addictions.
Well it all depends, if ur ducking the sharks because of not paying ur vig, getting a beating may be just as bad as going through withdrawals
