  • In this video I compare the University of Minnesota Dining Halls and rank them from worst to best. Hopefully this helps inform incoming UMN students about the basic traits of the each dining hall; and for current students, you can see whether you agree or disagree with my rankings!

Transfer here. Totally true. Pioneer is great if you want a lot of choices and especially if you love meat. If you love burgers, fries, sandwiches and fruits, pick 17 ave. Middlebrook is worst, although they have great scenes outside the dining hall. btw, there is an organization called 'swipe out hunger' and they offer 5 free swipes that you can use in dining halls.

Do you have to live in a dorm to get into a dining hall? I was going to go to 17th but couldn't enter the front door

Great question! I do believe that was a thing this past year - you could only use your card to enter the residence hall that you live in. I'm not sure if this will be the same in future years, though.
