My pleasure :) yeah there still not over familiar to a lot of people , i remember them In the catalogues at the time , but they were a weird release by Tamiya and not a lot of the enthusiasts bought them and not even the kids took to them really. Cheers for watching
Definitely an oddball but definitely cool as well but I can see why a lot of people don’t like them. A bit of suspension wouldn’t go a miss though, ha ha ;)
Not heard of this one before definitely an unusual one and i like it .That's what i like about your channel is you get some unusual cars along with the well known ones ...Hope all's well with you and keep up the good work Andy 😊👌 If evel knievel had an off road car this would be it has that kind of vibe .
It’s funny I’ve had a few evil knievel references with this car. I’ve always liked the odd cars though. Cheers for the comment, yeah I like a lot of aspects of RC, vintage is great but it’s also cool in include some of the latest stuff as well. Cheers for the support ;)
Weird aren’t they but I like weird , a good idea at the time just didn’t catch on, I think sone sort of suspension may have helped as your really need to use them on flat ground , cheers Barry
Very neat but rather unpopular car! I tried winning one of these from the Larry Zabolotny auction a year or so ago but the price went too high. I would love to find a nice one like this as I do love the odd ones and this one is a cool cross between the big RC world and the tiny 4wd slot racing world! Looking forward to seeing it run and with the proper paint job on it!! Take care Andy and thanks for showing it!
My pleasure 😇 I’m sure if you hold out one will come at a good price eventually, they might be a bit more difficult to get but I don’t think they should be bought for silly money. Fingers cross you find one. It’s cool to see what Tamiya were trying to do but it just didn’t quite work out, I think if they had suspension that might have helped with it being an rc car and maybe if they put on sone more realistic or previous released body’s on it ? Take care Addam :)
Great video Andy, I completely forgot about those cars so it’s great to see a real one rather than just in one of my old Tamiya catalogs! I could be wrong on this but the original chrome wheels that were originally on it were also used on the street rover, not sure if they are still available though 👍
Hiya, the Voltec fighter doesn’t share its wheels with the street rover , the street rovers wheels are the same as the dyna blaster although a slightly different finish. It’s definitely not a well remembered or thought of car by Tamiya , but certainly interesting 🧐
The mini 4wd cars are certainly popular in other parts of the world. For a while even nikko licensed out a few rc models of theirs too become mini 4wd cars they look pretty cool tbh. Marui & kyosho, had a few licensed out as well ofc. That 15t 540 is probably gonna have that move along pretty quickly. I think due too the lack of suspension it's probably prone too cracking the chassis is why they were so unpopular or simply spin out from the lack of grip from the tires & wheels.
Cheers if you watch my follow up video to this when it’s released, I did have a problem with the chassis and certainly with it spinning out because of the lack of suspension, thanks for watching
Closest thing they make now is the Tamiya star unit cars in Japan, they do an aero avante and a SU. lightening or sone thing like that , there 1/14 scale
Hey there Andy, how’s it going, niiiiiiiiiiice wee video, it’s chassis is the same as the Tamiya wild ceptor rc of which I’ve got one bnib.😊 Make me an offer for it 😮
Never seen this guy before interesting little rig. Thanks for sharing bud.👍
There not a well known Tamiya and we’re generally unpopular as well, but they are interesting and of a bygone time , cheers for watching
Very interesting. Never heard about these cars before. Thanks for showing.

Definitely like an old bit of furniture they are growing in value nowadays! Great vid Andy! I love them and agree l find them cool too!
Definitely an oddball but definitely cool as well but I can see why a lot of people don’t like them. A bit of suspension wouldn’t go a miss though, ha ha ;)
Looks like a modern day Evil Knievel jump car. 😊
Ha ha yes it does I guess , now that you mention it , it’s very evil knievel
That's different, really interesting to see and what a great condition example.
Cheers Damien , 100% an oddball and a curiosity, but that’s why I got it as it’s good to see things and share them people/viewers :)
Like the wild ceptor.
Great video! Been tempted for one of these over the years 😊
If you find one cheap they are worth scratching that itch ;)
Never seen one of these before Andy.. great info dude 👍👍😃
My pleasure Pete cheers for checking it out ;)

@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Your welcome great channel and enjoy the sun today .
Nice car, ours goes like stink brushless 😂
I bet it does, there’s not a right lot to them
Really , I bet it can spin out easily though ?
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 it holds the road quite well to be fair
Now that is definitely an oddity🤣 Very interesting though, and I vaguely remember these when they came out. Great video as always!

I wish they make these again.
I hope you keep this.

Never even heard of these before, got a 6.5 brushless you can try in it if you want 😂
Ha ha I think it would disintegrate if I put that in it lol 😂
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 😂👍
Looks like something from radio shack or Nikko
It does have that aesthetic to it , there just an enlarged mini racer really , quirky and cool but need to be driven on such a smooth surface
15 turn in it then toque tuned.
They had three different bodies for this chassis.
Wild ceptor , thunder blitz and Voltec fighter
Weren't able to put 540 in these?
You can if you had the optional 540 motor mount which mine cane with when I bought it :)

Cheers Mike, not sure I want to collect them all ha ha 😂, yes same chassis as the wild captor and thunder blitz. A cool curiosity car though
