Best part is if you cast silence on him the song will go to the regular combat music, cueing you in to the fact that he's actually singing his theme song while fighting you.

The most difficult one in the game. It was quite easy after you drink speed and fire resistance potions. I crafted 4-4, the only ones I could and have. The final fight with the thrall red dragon was very easy, without summoning allies with my main mind flayer character I wiped out everything.

My warlock got first initiative and paralyzed him right out of the gate, so this fight became pretty one-slided for me. It felt exactly like we had broken into somebody's house and had kicked to them down the stairs and beaten them up when they caught us trying to leave. 😂 Didn't even mess with the towers or any of the fancy mechanics because my DPS was so high that he couldn't do anything about it.

I helped Yurgir in the Temple and he is super bro-tier in this moment. Tells Raphael to cram it, that he revealed how to get to The House of Hope and that The Party understands a hunter's honour a thousand times better than Raphael does.

No, that’s not how it went. It was Swen Vincke himself who came up with the idea of a theme; the composer and the team just ran with it - though it wasn’t settled where it would be implemented from the start. You can see the composer, Borislav, talk about it in his interview by Dan Allen Gaming.
Also good is the portrayal of raphael hating chaos, as he is a devil. Devils hate chaos. Not only was the music insane, but the voice acting, the disappointment, the irritation yet patience in his voice before he lost it… well done VA
at best he will turned into an imp. Raphael needs crown of Karsus to have godlike power, Karsus the guy that lose to Mystril. Asmodeus is a deity stronger that Mystra and Asmodeus isnt obseesed with mortal view of Devil like everything Raphael talks about. Asmodeus/Ahriman true form didnt even resemble a usual horned winged creature. Theres a good reason Mephistopeles the second highest in demon hierarchy and has magic of those Archwizard didnt bother challenging Asmodeus even when he has the crown on his collection
@@ccc2839If Levistus is any indicator, Asmodeus would cook up some ironic punishment for Ralphael. Like fusing the crown to his head, so nobody else can use it, but making him explode every time he tries so, with the crown vanishing only to appear with ralphael reformed in a few days.
this is why the Raphael fight is one of my favorites. The actual fight itself is fine, but man is it just too fitting that Raphael sings in his own theme song, and it's good. Such a narcissist since he's a devil, so it just makes perfect sense to me. Just a very fun yet fitting element to the fight that makes it stand out from the rest
I laughed too hard after i heard him sing his own theme😂 that, plus the fact that Hope literally died first turn because i used divine intervention and all radiant damage just got reflected back at her😂😂😂 it was on my 2nd playthrough
I kept Hope in the background and used divine intervention to revive and heal my fallen squadmates. It was my first playthrough and I got damn lucky using the runepowder bomb. It blew up two pillars and knocked the crowding demons away, by a stroke of luck, it killed a few of them and somehow barely hurt my squad.
I learned the lore from another vid. If you cast Globe of Invulnerability first, Hope won't die to backlash damage. If you hit Raph, he can still Punish Divinity as a reaction, but Sunder the Heretical (the damage DI) is a massive help in mopping up the cambions, Yurgir, and Korilla.
@@trevorveillette8415 He kind of _is._ You don't fight him last, no, but he's a harder fight than the final boss, and you don't have to fight him at all. He's the Optional Boss, ala Final Fantasy.

One of the reasons this might have been my favorite fight in the game. I think it was Paul Van der Valk (Wrote the music for Hybris - Amiga) who said that basically gameplay = intellect, music = feelings. If you hit both, its perfection, but if you hit only one, music can almost carry a game.
This part of the game is most definitely one of the reasons why I keep replaying it. Same goes for “Try to cure yourself. Shop around- beg, borrow, steal” monologue
This fight and this piece we’re both masterfully crafted and will be immortalized forever more. I haven’t finished it yet but am close and can already say BG3 is the best piece of media I have ever consumed in my 26 years on this planet. Lae’zel best girl as well.

@@Kuutti_original Actually it's quite easy to defeat Raphael- I didn't have Hope or Yurgir, but Raphael has very low mental stats or whatever you call it. Keep him occupied with Tasha and Otto and it's an easy win. Also destroy the pillars.
This is by far and away the BEST boss fight in the game. The music, the stakes, the ambiance. Although we (my group) went in with an army of elementals (do not under estimate those things they are GREAT)
Planar Ally, create undead and animate dead carried me through so many fights. The turn economy is HUGE in a game like this. If you're taking more turns than your opponents, you have a distinct advantage. A group of five 7th level characters in DND can obliterate a Purple Worm (challenge rating 15) fighting on its own.
My fave dialogue iption is when you're able tk get the secret from Haarlep about Raphaels performance. Then you're able to get the last word, and no grandstanding from him.
The thing is, Raphael isn't just a no-name BBEG they made up for the game. He's appeared in one book I know of and been referenced in several campaign settings. Your PC is literally putting an end to the legendary princeling son of Arch Devil Mephistopheles. Raphael acts like he's a big f*cking deal because he IS a big f*cking deal.
That's so cool! I haven't looked into nearly enough of the original content, but I love that he's a character that we've had sprinklings of for so long!
Fun Fact, if you go back to the Store 'Devil's Fee' after this fight and you check that Orb / Ball on the table infront of Helsik's Desk, it'll say that Raphael is about to be Devoured by ArchDevil Mephistopholes for his Failure. That clearly brings a Smirk to your face, cuz killing a Devil in the Hells basically is almost pointless as they kinda 'Respawn' / 'Reincarnate' themselves.

My second playthrough as an Eldritch knight my best friend as a ranger druid fought this drvil and it was phenomenal! BG3 has to be my all time favorite game now.

I botched this fight the first time because I was so distracted by how awsome the song is and afterwards sort of genuinely was torn between killing Raphael being a good thing in a way and giving us this glorious piece of music and killing him being Bad because he‘s just badass level of awsome
I've done this battle a bunch of times but the most satisfying one was tossing down a runepowder barrel and globe of invulnerability and making the whole room go BOOM

I had even heard he was a disney villain and I STILL wasn't prepared for this. RUclips must have known it and sent me your video to see someone else just as surprised by the music.
He is a gaudy, well cultured, and flamboyant with a liking for the arts. It only makes sense that it would persist into the fight. He presents himself spouting poetry, and you can even peep him outside of the mausoleum practicing his little rhymes. Before you actually walk up on him. He literally was sitting there practicing until it was perfect. I found dude to be the least evil of all of the other villains. Still evil, but not as evil as saaaaaay Nere, or any of the Dead Threes apostles. With him in charge, he would have spanked Zariel out of the picture and brought order to the hells. Because of the hells having an intrinsic connection the Astral planes, he would have clapped out Tiamat as well, which would remove the threat from Vlaakith and the Kith'rak. There would be no more githyanki terrorizing the realms on dragons, and due to you making certain choices, there would be no more grand design as well.
true but taking control over the hells would've meant successfully challenging and overthrowing Asmodeus... which I don't see happening at all either on the battlefield or in politics
I didn't actually care much for Raphael throughout the story, he felt out of place at times and cliche, but the last act sure made him move up on my list of characters.
I loved fighting Raphaël, but I am kind of bitter right now, because as soon as I left the house of hope, my game started to chug like hell and I am at the very end of 100+ our honor mode play through, and I am literally at the end of the game trying to beat it for the first time in my game is just not cooperating. I have a back up save so if nothing else, I can at least resort to a domination ending too in theory, but this is been a very disheartening couple of days.
@@lozARCANE i’m doing some experimenting right now but so far it looks like any ending that involves the Docs is a Knogo because I either freeze at the scene or a freeze while trying to load the epilogue party. I’m going to do a couple more tests but if I can’t complete with a domination ending, which is the shortest of the endings, if I recall correctly, then I’m gonna have to speed run another honor mode campaign, I don’t really care too much about the story I can get that with tactician I just want my fucking golden dice

I believe at this point I was wearing the "Bonespike Garb" +15 temp hp when raging, reduce incoming damage by 2, incoming melee attacks deal 6 piercing to the attacker

I remember getting a Nat 20 on convincing the other Demon to fight with me against Raphael. Was such an awesome moment.

Fun Fact, if you go back to the Store 'Devil's Fee' after this fight and you check that Orb / Ball on the table infront of Helsik's Desk, it'll say that Raphael is about to be Devoured by ArchDevil Mephistopholes for his Failure.
That clearly brings a Smirk to your face, cuz killing a Devil in the Hells basically is almost pointless as they kinda 'Respawn' / 'Reincarnate' themselves.
@@galacticfirefly6060you've got it wrong. If you kill a devil anywhere besides the Hells, it respawns in the Hells. If you kill it in the Hells, however, it's dead for good.

@@galacticfirefly6060 Factually incorrect. In Faerun/Forgotton Realms lore, killing a devil in the hells is actually the only way TO permanently kill them. Learn the lore before you try to speak of it.
My first playthrough was completely blind. Imagine my surprise when he goes full Scar on you.

My second playthrough as an Eldritch knight my best friend as a ranger druid fought this drvil and it was phenomenal! BG3 has to be my all time favorite game now.

I botched this fight the first time because I was so distracted by how awsome the song is and afterwards sort of genuinely was torn between killing Raphael being a good thing in a way and giving us this glorious piece of music and killing him being Bad because he‘s just badass level of awsome

This whole scene was A+. Took me like four or five tries to defeat Raphael. For the first time in the game I actually had to think.
It took me a couple tries too, I just had NOT prepared ahead of time lol
Best boss fight of my life. The singing made it feel that much more atmospheric, like this was actually a very important fight on my tav’s adventure

I've done this battle a bunch of times but the most satisfying one was tossing down a runepowder barrel and globe of invulnerability and making the whole room go BOOM

И вот, появляется он, чувак с 666 хп и я такая: Вот черт. А потом начинает звучать эта песня и ты думаешь " Все, эта игра просто охренеть какая крутая". И хоть это был самый сложный бой моего первого прохождения, те эмоции, что я получила от него, были просто неописуемые. В более поздних прохождениях я уже использовала монаха через силу, который просто не давал ему сделать ход. Но та первая битва будет мне вспоминаться ещё долго

This is better than anything Disney ever did.
He is a gaudy, well cultured, and flamboyant with a liking for the arts. It only makes sense that it would persist into the fight. He presents himself spouting poetry, and you can even peep him outside of the mausoleum practicing his little rhymes. Before you actually walk up on him. He literally was sitting there practicing until it was perfect. I found dude to be the least evil of all of the other villains. Still evil, but not as evil as saaaaaay Nere, or any of the Dead Threes apostles. With him in charge, he would have spanked Zariel out of the picture and brought order to the hells. Because of the hells having an intrinsic connection the Astral planes, he would have clapped out Tiamat as well, which would remove the threat from Vlaakith and the Kith'rak. There would be no more githyanki terrorizing the realms on dragons, and due to you making certain choices, there would be no more grand design as well.
true but taking control over the hells would've meant successfully challenging and overthrowing Asmodeus... which I don't see happening at all either on the battlefield or in politics

I didn't actually care much for Raphael throughout the story, he felt out of place at times and cliche, but the last act sure made him move up on my list of characters.
the best boss fight in the game in my opinion. i won the battle without cheesy tactics and overpowered build after few tries.
if you help him when you first meet him and make him kill himself it isnt a 30 you need for him to help you.

One of the hardest fights in the game, but the set up and the music are so good.
I loved fighting Raphaël, but I am kind of bitter right now, because as soon as I left the house of hope, my game started to chug like hell and I am at the very end of 100+ our honor mode play through, and I am literally at the end of the game trying to beat it for the first time in my game is just not cooperating. I have a back up save so if nothing else, I can at least resort to a domination ending too in theory, but this is been a very disheartening couple of days.

@@lozARCANE i’m doing some experimenting right now but so far it looks like any ending that involves the Docs is a Knogo because I either freeze at the scene or a freeze while trying to load the epilogue party. I’m going to do a couple more tests but if I can’t complete with a domination ending, which is the shortest of the endings, if I recall correctly, then I’m gonna have to speed run another honor mode campaign, I don’t really care too much about the story I can get that with tactician I just want my fucking golden dice

I believe at this point I was wearing the "Bonespike Garb" +15 temp hp when raging, reduce incoming damage by 2, incoming melee attacks deal 6 piercing to the attacker
