THE MOMENT That Made Me Want To REPLAY Baldur's Gate 3 (From The Beginning)

- Опубликовано: 7 фев 2025
- In this Baldur's Gate 3 gameplay video we finish off going through the mausoleum and finally reach Nightsong, where the story drives into so many different ways depending on the smallest choice that you get to make. So we have to be cautious because this will effect Shadowheart drastically from now on.

Idk why but that Nightsong reveal gets me emotional every time, the music, the expressions, the VA, it's such a powerful scene.
It’s awesome.
Top 2 moments in the game for me together with the house of hope boss fight
Best soundtrack by far.
Also
I am resplendent…
YES YOU ARE🤩
The music takes the cake
Esfand is the kind of guy to accidentally pray to Tiamat when he reaches the city
Meanwhile Karlach dances in the background and she hopes Tiamat will just *accidentally* eat Zariel
Wait... would that do anything? Did I miss some content?
@@figa5567 Other than the buff you can get from any god, probably not
FYI, if you are a cleric of Tiamat... there is an insane amount of Tiamat specific options in BG3 that are pretty damn outrageous/cool. I had it as my deity on my dark urge run, highly recommended
About to start my third playthrough soon as dark urge so I'll definitely keep that in mind @@Songfugel
The moment Shar stripped Shadowheart of her powers, Selune showed her mercy. I love this scene in the game.
Shar tortured Shadowheart during that too. Selune saved Shadowheart and became her patron. Thus Shar couldn't touch Shadowheart anymore, only her minions. As Shar and Selune are equal in power.
I never got that scene to trigger on two playthroughs, Shadowheart only mentions it when I get zapped out of Shadowfel :(
@@ThatTCG do you get these scenes when you play the game as origin Shadowheart?
@@bradenoYes, you'll see what happened to her if you play as her. Selune saves Shadowheart, as Shar wanted to endlessly torture Shadowheart.
I kinda love this setting, Selune's like "oh the moon god", and then you dig a bit and she created all life on their world, and she created the sun, and doing so weakened her greatly. Without spreading her divinity into two new gods to rule over those things, she would be dramatically more powerful than Shar (Sure darkness is a cool domain, try The Sun and Cultivated Life ,including all crops and all births, see who gets more worship), but then the way it seems to be written, Selune and Shar are cleaved halves of the same entity, so by divesting herself of power she literally gave away the power of darkness to light and life because it also robbed Shar of power as well@@ThatTCG
I ADORE that moment for Shadowheart. The fact that trusting her to be the person YOU know she can be after being a good friend to her and showing her a better path leads to a positive result is SUCH good storytelling. I'll never not love that moment. Also, make sure you take the time to talk to ALL your companions after big story moments like that. Regardless of the exclamation point, they usually have at least one little line of dialogue talking about what transpired. Karlach's, Lae'zel's and Wyll's are some of my favorites for this one in particular.
It depends on your relationship/playthrough I think. Sometimes if left to her own she joins Shar.
@codegeass7162 that's if you've also taken a darker or less trusting route. If you've been kind and shown trust to her and others, she'll make the good decision.
Yes it depends if you are in a good or a bad run. In my bad run, she just killed nightsong in cold blood lmao
@@phxrxmxnx I think there's more to it than that. I had an evil playthrough where I was planning on having Shadowheart kill Nightsong and I decided to leave it up to her, assuming she would do it but she threw the spear and saved Nightsong which made me reload and force her to kill the angel xD
Probably my fav moment in the game. I love how Larian gives your companions the ability to think for themselves and you the option to trust them. I thought for sure Shadowheart was going to kill Nightsong when I left it up to her, but I felt I owed her the choice. When she made the "right" choice I was so shocked and thrilled. I'm going to try having Shadowheart kill Nightsong in another playthru as Esfand did here, but I'll always remember Shadowheart doing the right thing when given the choice in my 1st playthru.
This Moment is the essence of what a Game that wants to be replayable needs to capture. I love it in so many ways, even the little ones like how u killed Balthasar early so he coudnt screw with you in the end.
Same places, same people, but not same story. This is how you make great game.
@@m_sedziwoj Jaheira has a line when you talk to her about her past events in BG1+2 and how everyone tells the story differently. She says "There are as many versions of a tale as there are people to tell it." And that's 100% in reference to the fact the old games could also play out very differently for each player.
Ive taken 4 characters through act 2 and all of them had slightly different things going on. The very first character I deleted since it had several things going sideways with it. Ive beaten the game with my sorc, now im doing act 3 with my bard, next i have a paladin at the start of act 3. Though with how much goes on its been a while since i played the paladin so i might just axe that character and start over from scratch with another after my bard beats the game. I kind of want to try a druid, but i also want to do a evil drow necromancer, and a halphling thief. Also interested in doing a pure fighter or a pure duel wielding ranger.
Each play through ive run across things i didnt in my other playthroughs. I keep finding new stuff thats like, how did i miss that. Also in my very very first play through I found something (minuscule and not important) that I have not ran into on my other playthroughs.
I screwed up and didn't kill Balthazar right away because he was surrounded by his goons and so I figured I'd get a chance to get him alone. Saw him with the Nightsong and thought I could jump him while he casting the transport spell... nope it happens during dialogue. Thought I could finished him off quick after starting a fight... nope he spawns in a whole entourage and I don't get to control the fight. So I reloaded and went and killed him in his room before coming back to get the Nightsong
So much of this story is about agency. Leading your companions in the right direction, but then letting them make their own choices and not trying to control them.
Yep, and it should be clear to anyone whose spent like 100 hours with Shadowheart by this point that she is fundamentally good. I trusted her to make the choice from the very beginning and never looked back. Still it’s nice watching this video to see what might have been.
It’s the same with Lae’zel. Giving her free reign to discover the truth about Vlaakith for herself
"To trust" doesn't work with Astarion, though. You have to choose whats better for him. So it is differs from companion to companion, I guess
@@TheSlorcAstarion is a bit different in that regard. He literally has centuries of reinforced evil, and is a vampire which is inherently evil. What would have been cool was a way to cure him entirely, to see the person he was before the blood hunger.
@@TheSlorc i have let astarion finish the ritual so he became a vampire lord. The things he said after made me regret that choice, so i had to get rid of that rat. Goodbye Astarion, sorry for letting you choose your own fate :D
Both choices were sick but the cinematic where Aylin gets her armor and wings back was too cool
Esfand fits more a dark/shadow knight then paladin with how he acts lol
the fabled Grey Knight
He broke his oath so many times with his decisions, it showing that he not playing his character.
It is funny, that some people play this game as they think they are, and game is showing, that they don't know they self, that they are more darkness (or not) in them.
Seriously I am very disappointed with esfands moral compass. But he’s very funny so I’ll keep watching
He could just become an oath breaker paladin lmao he’s broken his oath multiple times idk why he keeps it
@@munchmacuchi7502 ty this comment made me laugh irl
It's so funny to me that esfand the paladin of all things tried to intervene in what Shadowheart did, but ended up actually pushing her over the edge into turning evil. Doing absolutely nothing leads to a better option lmao.
you can see it as "leading shadowheart to evil", but you can also see it as "leading shadowheart to fulfil her vow".
as a paladin, you value the word, over the action (to some degree). a paladin might help dark brotherhood assassin complete a contract (to borrow from elder scrolls).
mind you, the dark brotherhood are not "evil", they are, technically, a godsent.
Right before you enter the Shadowfell, Shadowheart tells you exactly what you need to do. She says “Just remember, let me do what I need to do”. This is literally the exact thing you need to do, explained by Shadowheart herself. It’s brilliant.
Trying to pressure her to one side is the opposite of the point of her story, that Shadowheart at “heart” is a good person who can made good deeds without being ordered to.
@@itsluger6278and here I was souped up I was able to pass a DC30 persuasion check on my bard when all I had to do is let her be herself. This game is seriously incredible.
Yeah I didn't say anything and let her do what she must. She cast the spear into the void. This was after me not knowing she was even a Sharran until the hidden shrine/temple in act 2. I never once pressed her on her secretiveness.
My second playthrough I was a bard and figured it out at the Selunite shrine by the owl bears in act 1. TOTALLY changed her personality vs the first playthrough.
This game is not just next level, its like.. Next next level. Maybe even more. It's legitimately astonishing how much effort they put into different pathways
The worst part of checking some major choice options just to reload is that you'll never actually see results that happen from the decisions.
i'll probably do three playthrough, a good, an evil, and a whatever dark urge eating toes counts as
@@kitsunekaze93 The Dark Urge is an incredible way to experience an evil playthrough with a fully customizable character.
@@GottkaiserFhqwhgodOr better yet an evil-turned-redemption durge which so far has been the most compelling for me narratively
you fail yourself when you save scum
@@kitsunekaze93 Dark Urge is how the game was intended to be played. I think the Tav play through is the WOTC rework.
I discovered just last night that my gnome sorcerer has a random dancing idle animation, too. I don’t know if he had it before he officially started his romance with Karlach, but I glanced up at my screen just in time to see the two of them doing a little idle jig duet.
My drow (DU, druid) also breaks into a rather flamboyant dance.
Loving this series dude, Every episode is a banger. It's so cool seeing all these different routes from the ones that I took.
You're a banger.
And there are more roads, it was funny at Early Access, when I watch a lot of twitch and youtube with people playing, and never found someone with same story as me. Sometimes small details, sometimes as big as decision made in this video.
I was about to flip out when esfand reloaded when letting Shadowheart decide for herself but luckily chat intervened 😅
Same, I screamed on screen :D And I selected silence for may play through, not because I know what I should do, but because I trust that Shadowheart will take good path Personally I hate people which fallow other blindly, not matter if they are gods, and I get one "god" angry (Vlaakith) and must load from save.
about do what you believe to Shadowhearth its based on many things, if you befriend her, romance her, if you tell her her history or even when you tell her to eat that one peculiar shroom which will show her some of her thoughts. If you dont do all those good things to her, she will choose to follow Shar, if you do all the good things for her, she will choose to follow Selune. Aftermath, later, completely broke me tbh, but I knew that following Selune was always the good thing which is.
@@urdnotwrex6969 for me is not fallow Selune, she believe in our future, and that past is not clear, which mean what she believe is manipulated. I think (if writing is good) she wants to clear past to move forward. It is not about Shar or Selune, but fallow someone and lose what you have so close, or drop all you did, to fallow new path which is full of hope.
On my second playthrought, knowing all the history behind this, i cried after sparing Nightsong. It's incredible.
Once in a blue moon, there is a game so good it's an experience. The last time that blue moon appeared before BG III was BG II. Endlessly entertaining, completely immersive, both.
The thing about this game is the choices you make like that don't just have an impact in the moment but will continue to impact the entire game going forward and trigger other repercussions that you wont know about until many hours later.
Chat really had your back, screaming at you to not reload again and let her choose 😂giving her her own choice, her own agency, and her freeing Aylin is truly the most beautiful way for the scene to play out.
Up until this point I didn’t feel to much weight in my choices. I mainly aimed to be a good guy, saved the grove, yadda yadda BUT I was also going for the Shadowheart relationship. The weight of trying to help Shart reach her goal culminating to this climax with Nightsong putting the balance of the Shadowcursed lands on the line with not only my choices here but Shadowhearts. It felt intense, tearjng impactful. Loved the story telling around this part.
I never thought I'd watch this streamer but here I am. This is one of the most interesting bg3 streams.
Welcome to the stream :)
I agree, this part is a masterpiece.
I feel like this is usually where games or movies stop, but this game takes the "wouldn't it be cool if....", then does it, and makes it METAL!
This part is so good. Legit had goosebumps when I went through this
This was such an honest WTF moment the first time I experienced this. So cool. Still not been able to kill the Nightsong though lol.
Killed the priest first . Killed all the harper and become friend with jaezira. Only to sacrifice her and misc to the tribunal
Both branches of that big decision are so amazing in how they play out, not just here but through the rest of Shadowheart's journey.
this and the myrkul intro, everything w astarion in act 3, ugh, beautiful game
Larian truly mastered the art of epic cutscenes. From Divinity original sin which had slightly animated pictures to whis, in just a few years. What an accomplishment
maaaan this was the first moment in the game to make me start bawling lmao. I was kinda just overwhelmed with emotion AND SO MANY CHILLs. I think this may be one of my fav games of all time ^^
I've been obsessed with this game, on a 4th play through currently. I love both options for shadowheart and having to pick was a huge sit back and think moment the first time.
I immediately put my trust in her and I would've gone with whatever she did. Glad she made the right choice. Nightsong is a really cool character and very useful at some point
Immortal aasimon spends all the time in my camp. Me: WOMEN COME WITH ME, KILL MY ENEMYS!!!
Editor has been on fire with the vid releases
I already finished the game but seeing the little changes to the paths you take affecting the story is really amazing. Also Esfand playing is really fun to watch!
Loved seeing this reaction, wish I wasn't so busy so I could've been there from the start. Definitely gonna have to go back and watch all the vids previous to this one.
Love this moment in the game, just stunning, seriously brings tears to my eyes every time. Laughed my ass off at 'Don't call her an Assimer' :)
This is a massive fork in the road, along with so many others. One of the reasons I absolutely love this game every playthrough is so different
Such a fucking good moment. I love how this guy is so surprised not doing the thing the Shar or Thorm wanted gets you the good outcome... xD
Absolutely love your play through. I know you can’t realistically commit to another run but if you ever revisit this game I’ll be there watching.
I screwed up my playthrough and I don't want to start a new one too... unfortunate really
I hope it gets an expansion that adds to act 2 and act 3
As a side note: If you do the Nightsong quest without Shadowheart present, when you leave the area, she shows up absolutely furious that you didn't bring her and she leaves your party forever.
Aw, I was there live for this, I was that guy who said you can't know what happens just by reloading a few minutes around the event.. You can't know how different it is for the rest of the game. Even crazier - when you play origin characters, you get different narrator lines since you're inside "their head" instead of the custom character's. And then, there's dark urge. It's insane how much replay value this game has.. I'm about to start my 3rd run. On Tactician.
Now seen this scene & both so completely different! Awesome game-building! Thank you. :D
That was a good scene.
Made me sad we didn’t get the Aasimar as a playable race. Used to run one way back in Icewindale 2 and was looking forward to reviving him.
I think it goes to establish how fricking rare aasimar are supposed to be. Big deal is made of Nightsong being one.
so good, loving this playthrough
It’s so crazy finding this video because the first time I played boulders gate three this was the cut scene that actually made me fall in love with this game because I didn’t know any of allure and I didn’t know Allen was actually an angel and when I saw those wings and heard that music I dropped my controller and my mouth was on the floor. I was stunned at what I was watching and this game became one of my top three favorite games of all time.
I was already spoiled that Shar was the evil goddess and Selune was the good one, but looking back they do make it VERY obvious!
Playing a good Dark Urge is really fun for a second play through. I would be evil but you miss so many items for min-maxing.
its about the same except your character becomes more essential to the plot whether for good or bad xD
Yup I just finished up my playthrough as a durge and played it as good. From memory I only did 1 "bad" in Act 3, but that choice is also an option for those on custom origin as well so not durge specific.
The durge specific moments throughout all 3 acts really add so much to a playthrough imo, especially with how it interacts with your companions and the choices you get to make.
I think playing dark urge and resisting it is the best way to experience this game. You don’t miss out on anything and there so much extra dialogue and makes act3 and the whole situation with bhaal and Orin so much better. I seriously recommend it.
Resisiting the durge is the canon gameplay
I almost always end up picking to spare the nightsong just to see this cutscene, it's so cool, and the music just makes it.
and there it is xD i knew we would end up with a chaotic evil paladin, murderer of innocents, and evils alike!
Nightsong: I am resplendent
Esfand: .....I thought her name was Nightsong....... 😅😅😅😅😅😅
The story is so great i just love it maybe bc i can relate to it my past was also very painfull. I love how they did write that shadowheart story. The good ending tells such a great story, the bad is just a story about giving up to your tormentor and relay on memory erasing after doing bad stuff.
All what was needed was to see the truth and someone that stayed on your side and trusts u
comment for the algorithm. Keep up the BG3 content.
Im a big fan of these videos. Excited to see Act 3
Cultist of the godess of darkness, right befor making a ritual killing to get promoted: "wait, are we the baddies?"
Such a beautifully designed moment
Ikr this game freaking RULES! Going through a 2nd playthrough with a paladin/fighter/barbarian champion build. :)
I played this yesterday (for the third time, yes I'm playing my third run) and omg every time it hits so hard, I just love this game so fuckin much
When you play BG3 and think one playthrough is enough, but then you see that many - many - many possibilities and different outcomes. There must be more playthroughs!
Minthara is worth it. She deserves more content.
I'm actually playing the game like 1 step ahead of you because I don't want spoilers in my run but it's crazy how ur characters look beast in stats. Gl with the moon tower LOL u will need some luck or a lot of skill.
Dude, you just got your face blasted with Divine LIGHT, and you'd prefer the Dark Justiciar?
I'm sorry, but I have to echo "Fake Paladin who likes the evil outcome", your Paladin cred is now officially revoked xD
This always give me goosebumps, I love it
I don't know why completely, but this part of the game was liberating and very emotional for me.
Larian made an amazing job picturing the Aasimars as real angels of Faerun.
These uploads are a blessing for sure
Karlach is dancing because she's just that happy to be there :D And perhaps ADHD
Oh, it gets even better. The game just keeps hitting me from places I don't expect. It is so damn good.
I love watching this, im not really into turn based rpgs but the story and choices of BG3 is really sick.
Awesome video, man! I didn't go that route - so next time I play the game I just might and see what all is different. :)
Both pasts are suhc strong quests. I legit had tears in my eyes multiple times on this questline. At this point in the mausoleum and later in the house of sorrow. One of the best questlines i have played in a LONG time
Ring ring "Yeah hello? Is this Withers? Yes, I want to respect pls. 4 clerics of Selune. Yes, u too. Thanks!"
Honestly, this game is brilliant. Personally more keen for a second playthrough then buying and starting a lot of the new decent games that are out
15:30 "BoomtingKing - SAME OUTCOME." - Clown
marklunnd "its the same" wrong lil guy
CharTheRedComet "Chat's fucking stupid why do you believe chat" - and wrong again morain
god this part always gives me chills
yeah i cant watch her die, its just such a wrong choice. (for me obviously)
This is a game for eternity
easily the most powerful scene ive experienced. im actually still in act 2 haven't even fought ketheric
the reveal of who those legs belong to are the reason Larian deserve game of the year for BG3
That one chat comment at the end about missing the yugir convo really hurt my feelings. I was looking forward to that, but than I thought Esfand did some rare ass sneak attack and skipped it. Damnnnnn. How did chat know?! WHAT HAPPENED????!!!!!
You have to cure the shadowland before you free nightsong, otherwise the curse never can be lifted from the land
I love esfand being like "This a bad idea". True dnd moment.
I just had to roll Paladin on my next run after this scene. Just a great moment.
Thats a good guess on who nightsong is honestly, and not technically far off from the truth.
BG3 is a game, unlike any other I've played, where as soon as I rolled credits I couldn't wait to start over again.
Went down the evil path acting like you didn't know what you were doin', hilarious! 😁
i literally cant find it in myself to kill the nightsong ...no matter how many playthroughs
I'd love to see him play a dark urge character. He can even go oathbreaker since he loves paladin so much haha. I mean, this is what I did and it was awesome storywise.
I honestly fear for video game developers in the future. This game I’ve personally only completed once and now currently going through it on tactician. Still finding new things and have dark urge left to go and then Mods! So much game, no internal purchases, no extra dlc, no pay walls, just good game, narration, characters, voice acting, script. Incredible ***** 🎉🎉🎉
Guiding those through understanding and not of force is the way of a true Paladin. For they will find the light in their own way.
I've played out both options and i like the good path a lot more :P
Keep missing the live so thanks for uploading on YT, gigachad content.
"Wait, what have I done?" - YEP. It do be like dat.
Shadowhearts “What did you say?” Was delivered so well.
Yes, the best moment in the game.
I have never played a game that made me want to play it again, in a different way, with a different class etx in the middle of the game. this truly is a masterpiece, despite of act 3 needing som polish, i have now played this game 2 times and i still wanna play it 2 more times and make new choices!
11:00 Love it when you do the wrong choice, nothing gracefull about it or beautifull soundtrack just cold murder and everyone dies (except from your group).
fun fact you can throw the spear into the void to avoid this
I wish I could watch good streamers play games like this everyday.
My second playthrough is gonna be durge, and I'm probably making shadowheart and astarion baddies. But i wished i could free nightsong just to plays this scene again, its so good
Shadowheart looks SO TINY in this video.
karlach dances all the time because of her heart, hyping her up all the time
HURRY UP RUclips BOY, I NEED THE NEXT PART AND I NEED IT NOOOOWWWWWW
its crazy to think how many forks in the story esfand already went through without realizing how far reaching it changed the outcome of the game going forward.
I would say the Dark Justiciar Shadowheart would work very well if you make her a Vengence Paladin / Cleric Multiclass! You get better Attacks and all the Paladin Stuff, but you also get the combined Spell casting of both classes. My first Idea would be:
6 Level Paladin, to get the aura, and 6 Level cleric, leaving her at Level 9 Casting total for 5th Level Spells, while having Multiattack.
Alternative would be the 1- hit build: 10 Level Cleric, 2 Level Paladin. Getting 6th Level Spells, and Divine Intervention while having access to Smite for Melee Burst.
