My mum was once cornered by some Christians in London while waiting for my dad and English grandma. This was in the 90s and I think the group that cornered her may have been the London Chruch of Christ; she was pissed off at my dad and grandma for being late because of her encounter with a cult. Similarly, one of my dad's many cousins (Asian families seem to have infinite cousins) became a Scientologist in the 90s after encountering them at his London university. This cousin is a few months older than my dad and was essentially a sibling to my dad and his sisters because he was sent from Hong Kong to live in England because his own parents were trying to sort of emigration. However, the cousin's family ended up in America and left him in England with my grandparents who neglected all the kids in their care from an early age. Even by the standards of the 70s, my grandparents were neglectful while they ran a successful takeaway (something that probably happens a lot in Asian immigrant communities but is never spoken about). It's likely that this cousin was drawn to Scientology as a result of his childhood because cults prey ofn vulnerable people. Autism (and ADHD) may run in my dad's family, so this may also be a factor in this cousin's recruitment. My grandparents wouldn't let their kids be around this cousin when he became as Scientologist, so I don't think anyone has heard from him in about 30 years; and we'll probably never know what happened to him.

While I think that CAN happen, most of these people who join are weak, sad, needy, unstable, inadequate losers, so desperate for acceptance and belonging, they're willing to give into it, even though they know in their heart of hearts, it's bullshit. And they still view it as a better option than their previous life... Some might fall for it "at a time of vulnerability" but far from being led further and further into the woods, most people recover from relationship breakups, death of loved ones, job loss, business failure and bankruptcy - abuse and trauma of all types. Most people, if anything, would, as they healed, start to perceive more and more clearly the nonsense they were currently surrounding themselves with - and get the hell out of there. I didn't stick around for the last one, but in none of them was there any suggestion cult members were physically prevented from leaving. I feel sorry for those who did realize eventually - but who by then WERE fucked up - and tried to leave out of third story windows. But fact is, even if I wasn't paying attention and by a certain point to first geezer was locking them in, it only got to that stage cos they gave him the power and the confidence to do so...in the early days he didn't dare in case they saw through his act for the dirty shyster he was. Even the Scientologists don't generally try to bump you off or lock you inside - they just have you followed, threaten you with legal action - and the Jehovah's Witnesses shun you. All very upsetting, for sure, but little if any of it fatal. In the vast majority of cases - with really only a vanishingly few high profile, tragic exceptions - the option is right there to just walk out the door.... The reason most don't though, is for why I already mentioned above....

Jehovah's Witnesses weren't mentioned unlike the 'Process Church', which was never actually in the UK. They have some very dangerous beliefs, like not believing in blood transfusions. which has led to the deaths of a great many, far more than the Process(who have never been known to have been responsible for any deaths at all). They still exist in towns and cities all over the UK. Christianity certainly wasn't mentioned, they believe some really bizarre things and have arguably been responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths.

Why are you showing stock footage of a genuine Christian priest's collar at 27:21, when your video is about crazy cults??? This is grossly insulting to authentic Christians!
So first would like to say that the rest of the information provided in your first story was accurate and the quality of your narration is great, but I think you missed the mark a little with the first Cult of Bala…. Why? You barely touched on what that poor child was forced to endure from day one of her existence on Earth, and what she has now become having been given her Freedom. That is where some of the true horrors occurred… she was not allowed to be cuddled, kissed, comforted, talked to, allowed toys, anything at all growing up. She had been a prisoner and neglected (by demand of Bala) I think you should do a longer video to explain that side of things.

I can vouch for that. The members from there Birmingham cult came up to be a couple years back. I was in for a few months and the emotional manipulation and mind control was very concerning. I even brought a close friend of mine who wanted to understand the Bible who was a believer of Christ. By the grace of the living God, I started to read and understand the truth that the Messiah came to fulfil in my own time. This made me realise that they have cherry picked scriptures to gain power over there followers. They even had planned Bible studies that may still be on the internet till this day. It was traumatic, and I was only in it for a few months. Hallelujah to living God that was redirected to the narrow path and life couldn’t of been more peaceful 🙌🏿❤️
Definitely not a cult. The definition of a cult is an organisation led by a charismatic leader, with a strict hierarchy, which forces its followers to remove themselves from society and exclude all worldly influences, and cut themselves off from all media eg.TV, news, social media etc. They also force adherents to disengage from family and friends, and limit interaction with non believers. The emphasis is on isolation and exclusivity. Extinction Rebellion is none of those things. It has no religious beliefs. There are no leaders, and there is no hierarchy, neither on a local, national or a global scale. The vast majority of XR members have normal jobs in the real world. Many are retired teachers and scientists. They socialise with non XR members and live in normal family groups. Far from cutting themselves off from the media, they actively engage with it. They are part of the community in every city in the UK. They encourage absolutely everybody to join, as they believe that only when the membership reaches a critical mass can it influence government policy. Just because you disagree with a group's aims or methods, doesn't make them a cult.
Extinction Rebellion is a murder cult. It does have its leaders and higher ups but they are hidden from view. They are paid but the elites to spread their communism. They dress in read as a death cult. People don't realise that the carbon they want to get rid of is them. They dress in blood red as a sign of human extinction.
ER is more of a middle class protest party, whose more well heeled advocates spend rather too much time in Range Rovers and airliners, or on expensive yachts, for the environmental preaching to be taken seriously...
@@vermilliongeckothis is a very narrow definition of a cult. The Jehovah witnesses have a committee of leaders for example. I think the best/simplest definition I’ve heard is can you leave with your dignity intact? are you allowed to associate with current members, like your family, if you leave.

Whenever the sound drops, it's because he's had to censor a word that RUclips doesn't like these days. Words such as "sexual abuse", "rape" and "suicide" will cause him problems if he doesn't censor.
I f find myself playing attention to the gaps between the words, and losing myself into Josh dramatic newsreader style. perhaps, if it wasn’t more of a conscious decision with dramatic sentence. In every sentence, I’d feel more inclined to follow a story instead.
Can't say suicide on RUclips...that's total bollox. Censorship to that degree is so petty. I'm sorry can't watch. Hate sensorship in all it's forms. RUclips is becoming a joke
The first one at least sounds fine to me, or at least its aims does. The internet names and shames all the time, so do the two main political parties. The biggest laugh was Sunak accusing voters of being undemocratic for their choice of candidate. I still still know some and remember other followers of the Guru Maharaja who had a clothing factory in London in the early 1970s. I thought it was exploitative at the time but I fell for all the stuff about Kennedy and Nixon etc which I now doubt. I'd say Galloway's words, rare for me, two cheeks of the same arse. There's a potential cult in everyone, look at the nonsense on anti-social media. I think Billy Graham came to Bournemouth in 1965, when I was a young teenager on holiday there. The beatniks were attracted to him, I think because of the drugs they took. I remember the Jesus Army and the Scientologists back in the day. The swastika is an Indian symbol.

@@mrkiplingreallywasanexceed8311I've met quite a few ex-cult members (especially ex-Scientologists) without exception, they are intelligent and likeable people you wouldn't identify as having been in a cult.) Steve Hassan, who was recruited into the Moonies, has written quite a bit about cults- the profile of most cult recruits (no one joins, they are recruited and usually by deception) is above average intelligence and somewhat idealistic. Steve Hassan had a stable and happy childhood and was just a bit lonely at the start of University when some hot girls asked him about world peace..Thats how it started.
Mom took us to a few Jesus Army meetings when we were little. Am v glad she decided it was a cult now and wouldn’t let us go back, tho I was upset about losing my new friends at the time.
Lucky escape...
Grew up in them. Some people had a good experience but lots of us didn’t. Your mum was correct it was 100% a cult
Your mum was a smart lady.
I wish I was smart enough to start a cult instead of seeking any job
I'm liking your docs keep up the good work

My mother was severely abused in a cult as a child and people don't believe her.
So sad to hear this.... There is a podcast called the imagination where there are 100s of survivors interviews she can contact Emma Katherine perhaps she could share her story there... At least it will be believed and she could reach out to others on there for support ❤
Any religion, and all ideologies can be classed as cults, even atheism.
Lol cuts are reglions who normally abuse people the cult leaders are normally narcissistic personality disorder power and control divide and conquer self righteous and act as if there a god above all others that's really much every reglion especially if they practice negative things brainwashing u go hell is an evil thing to say u wishing someone bad ots classed as black magic be careful what u wish for u practice praying at home its safer
Atheism is non belief in God how is that a cult
@AlanObrien-if4ie clearly you need to touch more grass with more atheists, they ain't ALL sunshine and happiness, many of them do have issues with religion in general, and it more often boils over to an extent, where I've even had to literally get a court order out on one atheist; so yeah, it really does make you think about what atheism actually really is.
@ghostlylover99123 personality of atheists doesn't determine what non belief in God is
@AlanObrien-if4ie but it sure is an indicator
Jehovah's Witnesses weren't mentioned unlike the 'Process Church', which was never actually in the UK. They have some very dangerous beliefs, like not believing in blood transfusions. which has led to the deaths of a great many, far more than the Process(who have never been known to have been responsible for any deaths at all). They still exist in towns and cities all over the UK. Christianity certainly wasn't mentioned, they believe some really bizarre things and have arguably been responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Thank you very much!
Joshua -- you are not helping Survivors by signposting them to the CIC. Please direct them to the Family Survival Trust. The CIC have links with Amway. I know of one person who was directed towards a CIC associated "therapist" who is not a member of a therapeutic professional body and shouts at his "clients". Happy to discuss this.

I was in a cult in the 1980's, escaping from The Divine Light Mission (Elan Vital) in 1985. Though a Hindu sect largely operating from Malibu, it was very active in Britain, and this applies to many cults abroad - they do have active British branches as well.
Incredible what goes on between closed doors... these are shocking
Oh, British CULTS!
These cults tend to involve money and sex.
And power. That seems like an equally important issue. It’s good for the leaders ego.
@@AndImsomelady - yes power money and sex. Sums them up really.
Getting or giving - I'd consider it, depending on which way round! 😉
I've listened to a lot of true crime, and I love the information you're bringing to the table, but your presentation is very much like William Shatner, which makes it a little difficult to listen to.
I'd really like to listen to more of your videos in future, hopefully with a more smooth narration 🤞
Thank you
No mention of The Process church of the Final Judgement?
Did you watch all the way through?
The BB C conducted an enquiry...talk about pot and kettle.

How bad must it be for people to unite against an evil leader and his thugs
What's happened to some words, in this video, we are grown ups you know.
Firstly, not all of you are, but secondly, and far more importantly, it's to avoid having the video either demonetised or taken down.

Cults like Jehovahs witnesses.
There connected to freemasonry deffo a cult
First off Manson wasn’t a “ serial killer “ nor was he a member of the Cult - all the process did was interview him In prison - that’s as far as it went .
Why are you showing stock footage of a genuine Christian priest's collar at 27:21, when your video is about crazy cults??? This is grossly insulting to authentic Christians!

Accurate 😆
He totally does look like Owen Wilson.!!!
Appreciate the feedback 🙏
Check out cult expert Steven Hassan. Fascinating insights.
What is your definition of a cult and what qualifies your opinion?
Ive been called a cult

London Church of Christ sounds exactly like Jehovah's Witnesses!
Yes! Definitely similarities

Church of Christ is a mind fk! They nearly got me. I still have nightmares. Strange phone calls from them where they talk and talk and talk where they constantly contradict what they said in the previous sentence (cognitive dissonance) and emphasise certain words or phrases. They'd phone me at 1am and 5am trying to deprive me of sleep. Frightening that some people never get out and have to spend their entire lives trying to brainwashing people
Wow, thanks for sharing...crazy.
What about the extinction Rebellion ?
It's a malthusain cult
ER is more of a middle class protest party, whose more well heeled advocates spend rather too much time in Range Rovers and airliners, or on expensive yachts, for the environmental preaching to be taken seriously...
@@vermilliongeckothis is a very narrow definition of a cult. The Jehovah witnesses have a committee of leaders for example. I think the best/simplest definition I’ve heard is can you leave with your dignity intact? are you allowed to associate with current members, like your family, if you leave.
All you talk about is public knowledge, nothing new here. It seems more like retro rehash of older and better resources as an intelligent video. However as I am always interested in being proven wrong, let's ask a question. What differentiates the London COG from the COG ??
The first bloke reminds me of Jeremy Corbyn 😂😂😂

Can you do the free palestine cult next?
