hi uk person here! the bbc cannot give any prize money because it’s funded by the tax payer so the prize money would come out of uk residents own money! i’m 90% sure that’s why lol

@@dragdive For that to happen WoW or Ru would have to take it off the BBC and lose that funding - BBC content is only just beginning to get sponsorships, and all the prize money from drag race US comes from sponsors, not Ru's own pocket.
But sponsored content doesn't work as well in the UK. We don't really like being marketed to, so the chances of the show moving from the BBC to like ITV with the explicit advertising laws we have would cause huge problems for Ru's bottom line. He'd still make money, but not as much, and that means it's not viable.
Well im sure their contract deal in the US makes up for the lack of prize money in the UK. Its just not advertised because it would cause issues.
