  • Hello everyone, and welcome to another The Isle Concept Analysis! This is a series I will be making for the following weeks where I explore and analyse all the dinosaur concepts that the devs have been releasing since 2020. Today we are going to discuss the Monolophosaurus.
    Hope you all enjoy the video :)

      It would make sense honestly. Ravens track prey for wolves, and in turn get to eat their fill of whatever the wolves kill. I can see Monos developing a similar relationship to some other carnivores that might have trouble tracking or chasing prey.

    the two monos having trouble with a singular beipi seemed concerning at first, but after learning that even jaguars hesitate to attack giant anteaters, whos claws can dig through termite mounds, the reasoning begins to make sense. though I doubt beipi has claws that strong, a tussle with the smaller theri shouldn't be taken lightly.

    The one bit I'm worried about is it being so weak, it ends up primarily tracking animals and trying to get other stuff to kill said target.

      I don’t believe it’s weak just a strategist, it is brittle to balance its snot and maybe it is weak to bleed since it’s so skinny none of that was hesitation it was distracting the biepi so it’s partner could bite it don’t over exaggerate everything just cuz u think it’s something like that

    @ElexxEplive Год назад +30

    the fact that they look scared to attack beipi doesn't mean they have a weak attack, for me it means that they have a weak defense and they will play on tracking then hit and run. Or maybe the picture is realistic because even if a predator can kill his prey they also want to avoid being hit. There is also a pciture of a solo mono against a tenonto and it doesn't seem that he is afraid of it ( and we know tenonto is a strong one actually)

    • @nikolasdemoulin8093
      @nikolasdemoulin8093 Год назад +9

      100%. Xzauger constantly does that weird uncharitable thing where if an animal defeats another in the concept art, it somehow now means that this defeated animal is garbage and weak and will always lose to the creature which defeated it in the concept art.
      Like the spino concept showing it landing a claw swipe on the deinocheirus. He spun that into a strange argument that this now means deinocheirus is too weak to ever win and spino is now broken and OP and can kill everything with zero challenges.
      It’s odd. I never see that. I just see an animal acting realistically on a confrontation and it’s just a picture of one specific encounter detailing that animals abilities or behaviors and says nothing about how often they will win or lose. Much of that is player skill when talking of two similarly sized animals.

    First, Mono being in the isle and getting his concept makes me unreasonably happy and second, I feel like the two individuals trying and failing to hunt the Beipi are juveniles. Mono is around 2 meters tall and 5.5 meters long while Beipi is around 7 feet long so I think the two Monos are too small to be adults. They can still prove that they suck at hunting and fighting but I don't think they're so incompetent that a Beipi is a threat to a full grown adult. Especially since the one Mono is around the height of a Tenonto. Just wanted to voice my opinion on that

  • @thenerdbeast7375
    @thenerdbeast7375 Год назад +8

    Should be noted in concept art the dinosaurs act like animals and not necessarily how players would behave playing the dinosaur in question. While Mono is more than a match for Beipi, it is a natural realistic reaction for them to be hesitant from getting a swipe with those claws meanwhile players would not show such caution.

  • @Gavincie

    I can see monolophosaurs with its tracking scent "mines" and offensive "spray blast" attack being one of the most powerful human hunting dinosaurs in the game. Set a scent "mine" in compound areas you know humans will likely travel through and if the spray has the potential to blind opponents like hypsi's does- makes it have a chance of confusing even armed humans.

  • @Crakinator
    @Crakinator Год назад +8

    I can see Monos building relationships with other carnivores similar to ravens’ relationships with wolves. Ravens find and track prey for wolves, and in turn get their share of whatever the wolves kill. Maybe some carnivores will have difficulty tracking or chasing prey, and the experienced ones will partner up with Mono players who can assist with those tasks like little hunting dogs.

  • @Rexz2000
    @Rexz2000 Год назад +10

    I wish instead of simply having scent "traps" that mark things that walk through them they could mimic the scent of diet plants with their scent to lure prey into an ambush. Maybe they would need to first find and eat a source of diet plant in order to produce the scent making it a unique partial "omnivore"

    Mono's crest is much wider and boxier than Dilo's thin pair, and since it's also an extension of the nasal bones, I thought it would be a cool mechanic for mono to use it as a resonating chamber.
    Like Para's crest.
    Mono could be a small underdog carnivore who has a voice much louder than it might appear, able to bluff larger carnivores into abandoning their kills so it can scavenge, or scaring away a predator trying to eat it.
    They could even just go all out, and give troodon's mimicry (which it apparently isn't going to get on its release) to mono, so it has a unique playstyle of being a stealthy trickster, running circles around all the other dinos and coming out on top with no one else being the wiser.
    With this playstyle, mono being weak would actually work in it's favour, since it can use loud noises and mimicry to handle other dinos in combat without being too strong.
    But no, instead we get a sneeze mechanic that looks ripped straight from HodariNundu's art, and an unfinished version of what could've been a cool carnivore.

      @@JadeIsPresent That's what I'm saying, since troodon isn't getting mimicry on its release what's the point, it already has venom to make it unique, give mono the mimicry ability
      As for bluffing, yeah fair point but would you rather it just sneezed on stuff as its unique mechanic
      Guess that's what happens when you try to have a roster of over 50 playables *_and_* try to make each one unique

    I think a few things that would improve this dino would be firsty the snot acts as mono's own mud. So it can roll around in the snot and remove it's scent and heal it's own bleeds.
    Also the Snot should be able to trap and stick smaller dinos and humans like a web or glue. That way it can trap things, and infest human structures laying traps for humans and protecting it's nests.

    60-90 damage per bite can go a long way if they make it agile enough.

    mono might be a small prey specialist taking primarily rabbits, chickens, frogs, goats, Dryo and Homalocephale and maybe the occasional Beipi if they’re feeling lucky or carrion and not larger prey to avoid direct competition with larger carnivores which would just see it as potential prey but if it took larger prey larger carnivores would actively try to kill them. Of course this is just my opinion though and the other dinosaurs are gonna be controlled by real people so they’re probably gonna kill them anyway

  • @azurwing
    @azurwing Год назад +1

    Im excited for it and I think u missed a few key details in the concept. In the part where its hunting the beipi u can see above they are hunting at night. I also dont think they are struggling that much with the beipi (especially since they havent suffered any major damage) but i think they are taking adventage of its lack of vision. Seeing as the one that beipi has its eyes on is backing off while the other is going for the kill. Secondly i think it appears to be a predator that hunts small prey and sometimes go for (sorta) samesized prey. Though i am guessing it is trying to blind the larger prey to gain an advantege to land a hit. Overall it seams to be a midsized (close to utah size so from that im guessing it will be smaller that Dilo) nocturnal carnivore that rely on stealth, scent and blinding prey and might be able to stomach rotten corpses given the state of the corpse that is shown.

    It could have saliva like that of a komodo dragon, a few 4 bites and after about 20 or 30 minutes the target becomes weaker and "accessible" to the monolophosaur which would be a good use for its tracking ability, transforming it into a dinosaur of patience gameplay

    Acidic spit, its simple and easy to implement especially for the animal in question. Just have it be a toxic AOE attack that acts similar to the dilophosaurus spit from primal carnage combined with the venom effect in game. A ranged attack based playable would actually bring something logically new to the game and possibly be fun to play both against and with. Or if you want to be lame, you could just have it use its spit "attack" similarly to a short ranged pepper spray version of hypsi's blind mechanic.
