Im from santa ana calif.i remember going to saddleback and irvine with good friends the stuloes david donny danny this footage is awesome thanks for the memories
I'm also from Santa Ana, and was heavily in to BMX during that time. Raced a DG. There was a Santa Ana track at the Elks Lodge - across form the zoo. Many other tracks, too. Great times. What part of Santa Ana were you from? I lived off of Bristol and Warner
I was there racing in '79. I remember they moved the pro starting gate way up the hill. A worker was standing on track and was hit by a pro coming down the hill.
Ahh, the good ol' days. When skill level was low, adrenaline was high and chaos ruled. And moms got gray overnight.
Love that track my stepdad lance Jensen took me and my friends every week we were sponsored by Matthew's, lance would have our forks anodized red gold different colors, I broke mine coming off Bonsai hill a cameraman was lay in middle of hill supported by a railroad tie filming people going over him said it was for On Any Sunday part 2,well I bunny hopped it off Bonsai and cleared the hill landing on flaf ground damn there's go my Gold Anodized Matthews forks Good times eventually started bringing my little step brother which I took to WSAon fridays at 3 yrs old now you know him as
Juicy Jaws Jason Jensen .
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Now I'm 60 yrs old Retired Locomotive Machinist with Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) LOCAL 378 Topeka Kansas.
Unlike modern BMX where you coasted less, pedaled more amd put your foot out in the berms & corners.
Yup, when the kids ask me why is called “Bicycle Motocross?” I show them clips like this.
