History that should never be forgotten. These people had an absolutely MASSIVE effect on the world.
This is when I started!❤
In and out of the sport many times,
been back since 2017. I'm now 60 and have heart problems but I still race ❤
I miss my '82 Diamond Back.
Started with the skate boards from granpas junk pile in garage with crappy clay wheels,, when that bananna skateboard came out with the urethane mph changed dramatically,, remember going to the stores and buying the magazines in LA they were ridin the empty pools ,, bad drought back then ,, pioneer times in skateboarding and bmx,, proud to be apart of those times for sure
70's Nor-Cal BMX racer right here. San Fran Bay Area original. Started in 1978, when I was 14 and never looked back. Switched to Mt. Biking in Marin in 1988, been at it for 35 years. I still have some killer 70's/80's bikes in perfect shape.
Best days ever,, rode all day , never drank water ,, concord ca Baldwin park,, hill crest ,, rheem valley moraga, Stockton ,, Vallejo ,, dg frame first anodized wheels with coaster brakes,, we could hit jumps and yank the rear end way up,, I mastered coaster wheelies ,, and the first one that showed up with a nickel plated chain,, I could go on and on,, 61 now,, so you all no it,, we are the tri pioneers
Legendary! This is pure GOLD...Harry Leary and Stu Thompson were the pioneers. Skyway, Torker, Redline, Haro...amazing brands 😊
Sunshine bicycle shop pleasant hill,, ,, back then this was where can find all the new stuff comin out
No video game Era, just get outside and have some good old fashioned fun
And,, I’ll still ride ,, believe it
This is when and where I started racing as a little little kid... Nor Cal...
Vallejo Pal mostly.... but also another place that looks like this Aptos Track here...
IT was a long drive down towards San Jose / Santa Cruz area... for some reason I always thought it was called Skyline or something like that... IT was this track that started flat, kind of went up hill a little bit then took a left turn and went Screaming down into right hand turn etc... next to the track were some motorcyclist who were going super fast uphill trying to make it to the top.... Anyone know what that track was or the name of it? I thought it was skyline...
Film quality!!!
I started to race in 1976 I would say that today I still race at the age of 55. The only thing I say about today is BMX is yes it is faster the technology on the bikes have come a long way they might not be as strong but the other type of technology has improved the sad part is that today's BMX it's all about speed endless of bicycle Motocross back then when our sport was very primitive there was more of a technical aspect of it when it came to ride your bike on the dirt. Yes the younger generation today have a lot of speed but they lack one thing, is that they're not the typical bicycle commuters that we were when we were young we were able to at a blink of an eye avoid obstacles and that's what made us good in BMX back then and we were more of a technical bicyclist then today's generation.
Awesome!!!
Sick.
Rascal bars all day ,, redline frame was solid, and forks,, when mongoose showed up ,, that frame was very well made ,, flower mags were garbage,, tuff wheels perfect for ruff fast downhills ,, motomags ok but to heavy,, little John murphy,, g boy,, ,, fmf aluminum was super sick ,, later on boss product #1,, many other frame types were also good,, but our group was in our area very extreme ,, broke my dg frame and welded 14 times
Stamina!!!
Jeff Smith (S.I Class of 83) are you out there ???!!!. This is great stuff!
RONNIE ANDERSON!!!
Is this Chip Page from San Jose? Dude, Jr. High days! we used to kick it at your house. I raced one time, you let me race one of your bikes. I remember you had a boxer dog that farted all the time. Your Filipino friend Paul Paras.
Looks like it was filmed in 1920
