Yes, she’s singing with heavy accent because English is not her natural language. But you can’t ignore her technique and her range. They want to show the world that they produce heavy metal and still be feminine. They are not afraid to show their faith in their lyrics. Their messages are so uplifting and inspired. It takes a little getting used to her accent. Some songs its better and some songs it is harder. But in the heavy metal genre the lyrics are probably the least important aspect of a band. There are many metal bands whose words you can't make out.

Asami is definitely not a Bob Dylan or Kurt Cobain type vocalist with difficulties enunciating song lyrics. Asami is very good at conversational English and even spent some time in the US (studying dance and not voice). Before Lovebites she sang R&B and Soul in English for Japanese audiences. However, with the speed of most Lovebites music, she struggled with English pronunciation at that pace. As a mezzo, Asami can sing in a fairly low range but that range also seemed to bring out her accent more. Asami was very aware of her need to improve, so in late 2020 or very early 2021 she began working with an American singer/songwriter named Ayako Kawaii who moved to Japan specifically to help Japanese vocalists with English pronunciation. Ayako also helps Asami convert her initial Japanese lyrics into English lyrics (Asami has always been the primary lyricist for Lovebites, but after the departure of bassist Miho, she became the sole lyricist). I believe that Asami has improved greatly with her English since starting her association with Ayako and she will continue to improve.
Well, it's tricky for anyone singing in a foreign language. I can't imagine myself attempting a lullaby in Japanese! Plus, I still can't understand lyrics from many of my favorite English singers, so I am certainly not critiquing Asami's singing myself!

Yes all the singing is in english. As to the band name they named themselves after the halestorm song "lovebites (and so do i)". The singer even appeared with halestorm at download in 2019 singing that song.
Thank you for reacting to LOVEBITES. In terms of pure musicianship, they are arguably the most talented metal band on the planet (note the Grand Piano on stage - not played in this song though). Their sound is very much old school (1980s) metal (Speed, Power, Thrash), but with a modern twist. They simply do not have any bad songs, and several of their songs can legitimately be called masterpieces.

In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD-“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. This concert from beginning to end is awesome. It starts with a great intro with Thunder Vengeance. But all songs in this concert are awesome and you will find that they really have no bad song in their catalog. After taking almost two years off, Asami worked on her English, Miyako and Midori worked together on their guitar skills, Haruna did something because she is even more badass on the drums, and they got a new Bass player, Fami, who kicks ass in her own way. Their new album, Judgement Day, takes the band to a higher level, if that is possible. They released 4 songs from their comeback concert, Knockin at Heaven's Gate in March of this year and the 4 songs show their diversity in their music. The MV has subs, most of them., When I was young we learned British English in school here in Sweden. First time I heard an American I had hard time to understand but now I'm used to it. The same thing when I heard Japanese accent English. But now I'm more or less used to it... It takes time! ;-)

The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

They are Japanese, but she is singing in English. Asami can be hard to understand due to her accent and heavy vibrato, but it is English. They only have one song in Japanese, the original debut EP version of "Bravehearted," which they re-recorded in English for their debut full-length album. All of their songs are originals, except for covers of Judas Priest's "Painkiller" and Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free."

In Japan all female metal and rock bands are more common than in the rest of the world. The band Show-Ya was formed in 1981 and is still active. Later there was a band called Destrose (2007-2015), two LOVEBITES members (Haruna drums and Miho bass were part of this band before LOVEBITES). Now I could name you around 50 quite well-known all female bands. I'm a 70 something UK metal fan who has been listening to this stuff since the start of the metal music thing. A friend suggested I give Love Bites a listen, and I've been a huge fan ever since. I hear all sorts of echos of other past bands in their music, and I mean that in a good way. I think they are the best band I've heard in a long time. These ladies are freaking awesome, and I hope they gain the world wide recognition they so deserve.

I am positive that when you have more international reactions under your belt, your ear for picking up english by foreign singers will improve. Some of them, I had to play a few times to pick up lyrics too. I think most of the songs by LoveBites come with captions. Hammer of Wrath, The Swan Song, and Judgement Day are some real classics. Our dear metal youth of today. The band name you were looking for was DIO. Ronny James Dio unfortunately died some time ago. But it was a great video and I liked it very much, guys. Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 The band is around since 2016 and released their first EP and album in 2017. At this point they have 4 albums, some singles and EPs and also 4 official live DVD/Blu-ray releases. They just finished touring in Japan. Earlier this year in march they played their comeback show. This was their first live gig since 2021 and first show with their new bassist Fami. There are 4 videos on their YT channel from this show. I suggest „The hammer of wrath“ the first song of this concert for a next reaction 😊 The video of Holy War you’ve seen was still with there old bassist Miho and was recorded in February 2020. They’ve already toured in Europe back in 2018/2019, including the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. Then came Covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After that LOVEBITES came back with new bassist and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. New album with the same name came out in February 2023. Much good information has already been given so I'll just add that the four original members are in their early 30's and the new bassist is 10 - 11 years younger but an exceptional addition! Probably the Best Metal band the last 30 years or so imo. They sing in English albeit in a Japanese "Engrish" dialect lol. Also of note they Absolutely Drill in the Vein of Technical,Thrash and Classic Western Metal. They are Absolute Fire!
I would start with live versions of Set The World On Fire, Hammer Of Wrath, and Raise Some Hell. For more display of their talent, Swan Song with Chopin Intro, and really any other songs, you can't go wrong with any of them. Live performances are best if available.

Welcome to the world of Lovebites music. This band is phenomenal. I love Lovebites so much. White costumes and high heels - this is about them. And they always play these amazing guitar solos. You need to explore the Japanese all female rock and metal rabbit hole. Some groups to start with: Aldious, Band Maid, Maty's Blood, Nemophila, Doll Box, and of course Lovebites. As for which songs, well they are all good. Really. They all range from good to great to excellent, to epic. Which is why one should explore their music.
As many allready said. She sings in english but with a heavy accent. Suggestion is to either use captions thats often good provided thru RUclips or google the lyrics beforehand so you can have it on an Ipad or written out or something. The lyrics are often annyway very good and uplifting. Asami the front singer does them all. Its funny when you actually have the lyrics and see her sing them. To me as a Swede hears english obviously but yes with a very thick accent and some words a bit funny sounding. But absolutely english to my ears. But yes thats when i have the lyrics. You might be interested in trying Band Maid too. They're hard rock as opposed to Lovebites power metal. Both great bands although I prefer the rock genre. Try Band Maid playing DICE and HATE at Lalapalooza 2023, they'll get your toe tapping.
There are no songs in their repertoire that are not good. So pick any😊. I think Swan Song, Edge of the world and A Frozen Seranade are a reasonable cross section of their talents.
@@ChadTheDragonLord I have to disagree with you. Because of the differences in English and Japanese regarding how letters are articulated, English pronunciation is the first and toughest hurdle. Because Asami strikes me as a perfectionist and because she is very precise in the conversational English I have heard from her, I doubt she will have a problem enunciating the English words she has learned to properly pronounce. Her accent will always be part of her speech and singing but accent is not an enunciation issue.

Yes, she’s singing with heavy accent because English is not her natural language. But you can’t ignore her technique and her range. They want to show the world that they produce heavy metal and still be feminine. They are not afraid to show their faith in their lyrics. Their messages are so uplifting and inspired. It takes a little getting used to her accent. Some songs its better and some songs it is harder. But in the heavy metal genre the lyrics are probably the least important aspect of a band. There are many metal bands whose words you can't make out.

Asami is definitely not a Bob Dylan or Kurt Cobain type vocalist with difficulties enunciating song lyrics. Asami is very good at conversational English and even spent some time in the US (studying dance and not voice). Before Lovebites she sang R&B and Soul in English for Japanese audiences. However, with the speed of most Lovebites music, she struggled with English pronunciation at that pace. As a mezzo, Asami can sing in a fairly low range but that range also seemed to bring out her accent more. Asami was very aware of her need to improve, so in late 2020 or very early 2021 she began working with an American singer/songwriter named Ayako Kawaii who moved to Japan specifically to help Japanese vocalists with English pronunciation. Ayako also helps Asami convert her initial Japanese lyrics into English lyrics (Asami has always been the primary lyricist for Lovebites, but after the departure of bassist Miho, she became the sole lyricist). I believe that Asami has improved greatly with her English since starting her association with Ayako and she will continue to improve.
Well, it's tricky for anyone singing in a foreign language. I can't imagine myself attempting a lullaby in Japanese! Plus, I still can't understand lyrics from many of my favorite English singers, so I am certainly not critiquing Asami's singing myself!

Thank you for reacting to LOVEBITES. In terms of pure musicianship, they are arguably the most talented metal band on the planet (note the Grand Piano on stage - not played in this song though). Their sound is very much old school (1980s) metal (Speed, Power, Thrash), but with a modern twist. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades.This is the most popular song for first reactions. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD-“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners.
Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. It starts with a great intro with Thunder Vengeance. But all songs in this concert are awesome and you will find that they really have no bad song in their catalog.
After taking almost two years off, Asami worked on her English, Miyako and Midori worked together on their guitar skills, Haruna did something because she is even more badass on the drums, and they got a new Bass player, Fami, who kicks ass in her own way. Their new album, Judgement Day, takes the band to a higher level, if that is possible.
They released 4 songs from their comeback concert, Knockin at Heaven's Gate in March of this year and the 4 songs show their diversity in their music.

About the difficulties to understand Asami the singer She is better and better with the English, You will hear that in newer videos. The MV has subs, most of them., When I was young we learned British English in school here in Sweden. First time I heard an American I had hard time to understand but now I'm used to it. The same thing when I heard Japanese accent English. But now I'm more or less used to it... It takes time! ;-)
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. Their live performance is much better than MVs. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)

They are Japanese, but she is singing in English. Asami can be hard to understand due to her accent and heavy vibrato, but it is English. They only have one song in Japanese, the original debut EP version of "Bravehearted," which they re-recorded in English for their debut full-length album. LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.

In Japan all female metal and rock bands are more common than in the rest of the world. The band Show-Ya was formed in 1981 and is still active. Later there was a band called Destrose (2007-2015), two LOVEBITES members (Haruna drums and Miho bass were part of this band before LOVEBITES). Now I could name you around 50 quite well-known all female bands. Maybe the other most famous ones are: Nemophila, Band-Maid, Aldious, Hanabie, Mary‘s Blood, Bridear, Hagane, Trident, East of Eden, Fate Gear, Trident, Passcode, Lonesome_Blue, Gacharic Spin, Otoboke Beaver
There are also mixed bands such as Unlucky Morpheus, Maximum the Hormon, Mardelas, Chaos Control

I'm a 70 something UK metal fan who has been listening to this stuff since the start of the metal music thing. A friend suggested I give Love Bites a listen, and I've been a huge fan ever since. I hear all sorts of echos of other past bands in their music, and I mean that in a good way. I think they are the best band I've heard in a long time. These ladies are freaking awesome, and I hope they gain the world wide recognition they so deserve.

Our dear metal youth of today. The band name you were looking for was DIO. Ronny James Dio unfortunately died some time ago.
But it was a great video and I liked it very much, guys. I am already looking forward to the next one.
Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in
2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany
2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England
2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium
2019 - Download Festival in Spain.
In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward.

The band is around since 2016 and released their first EP and album in 2017. At this point they have 4 albums, some singles and EPs and also 4 official live DVD/Blu-ray releases.
They just finished touring in Japan. Earlier this year in march they played their comeback show. This was their first live gig since 2021 and first show with their new bassist Fami. The video of Holy War you’ve seen was still with there old bassist Miho and was recorded in February 2020.
They’ve already toured in Europe back in 2018/2019, including the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. Then came Covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After that LOVEBITES came back with new bassist and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. New album with the same name came out in February 2023. Now we, the Wolfpack, are all hoping for a world tour next year …

Much good information has already been given so I'll just add that the four original members are in their early 30's and the new bassist is 10 - 11 years younger but an exceptional addition! Welcome to the party, this is just the tip of the iceberg, my only advice is to be prepared for the ride of your life, and you'll probably get the addiction, like most people, these are 5 of the most talented virtuoso musicians on the planet today and believe it or not they don't have any bad songs, they cover the full genre of heavy metal from slow and melodic ballads to heavy thrash and shine in all of them. I would start with live versions of Set The World On Fire, Hammer Of Wrath, and Raise Some Hell. For more display of their talent, Swan Song with Chopin Intro, and really any other songs, you can't go wrong with any of them. Live performances are best if available.

White costumes and high heels - this is about them. And they always play these amazing guitar solos.
All their songs are in English. But the songs are really fast and Asami has to sing in rhyme... and her accent... At first I also didn’t really understand the words in the songs, but over time you begin to distinguish. During slow songs everything is much clearer, especially if you turn on the subtitles.

As many allready said. She sings in english but with a heavy accent. Suggestion is to either use captions thats often good provided thru RUclips or google the lyrics beforehand so you can have it on an Ipad or written out or something.
The lyrics are often annyway very good and uplifting. Asami the front singer does them all.
Its funny when you actually have the lyrics and see her sing them. To me as a Swede hears english obviously but yes with a very thick accent and some words a bit funny sounding. But absolutely english to my ears. But yes thats when i have the lyrics. And yes some song its easier to hear and some are harder.

You might be interested in trying Band Maid too. They're hard rock as opposed to Lovebites power metal. Both great bands although I prefer the rock genre. Try Band Maid playing DICE and HATE at Lalapalooza 2023, they'll get your toe tapping.

@@ChadTheDragonLord I have to disagree with you. Because of the differences in English and Japanese regarding how letters are articulated, English pronunciation is the first and toughest hurdle. Because Asami strikes me as a perfectionist and because she is very precise in the conversational English I have heard from her, I doubt she will have a problem enunciating the English words she has learned to properly pronounce. Her accent will always be part of her speech and singing but accent is not an enunciation issue.
