- Hello! This is my piano arrangement of "Forest Interlude" from Donkey Kong Country 2, composed by David Wise.

UPDATE 02/28/2022:
Sheets have been transcribed by DJA28, check the pinned comment for more information. Thank you DJA28!

This piece has always been one of my favorites from the Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtrack - coupled with the stunning visuals in the Gloomy Gulch, this made for quite an experience in the late 90s. I remember how these stages blew my mind. Probably my favorite from the game (even though I found them fairly hard, phew!). Rarely seen and heard something atmospheric like this on a 16-bit system.
The arrangement and the recording was challenging to make, and I may have bitten off more than I can chew under the current circumstances, so I had to be a bit creative to bring it all together in the end. Hope you enjoy this video, and I will surely play more David Wise and Donkey Kong Country music in the future. In fact, there's another really beautiful piece from this soundtrack that's been on my mind lately.
Arranged and recorded in April 2018.

Once again, I can't thank you enough for creating this incredible arrangement of a piece that has resonated with so many people. Even more so, I can't thank you enough for working alongside me, for the second time, to ensure that my transcription of your wonderful arrangement was as accurate as possible!
Today, the sheet music is finally now available for all to enjoy!
Sheet music available in the description here: ruclips.net/video/X5wpnP9gU80/видео.html
Thank you, too, for taking the time to work with me on the sheets. It's been a great experience, once again, and I think there are quite a few people who'll be looking forward to the sheets very much.
That was definitely worth a second listen. And then a third.
And then a fourth...
Almost like playing those hard levels and having to retry all the time, and not minding because the music's gonna be great.
I'm still amazed by your creativity in your arrangements. So many cool ideas you're throwing in, yet without sacrificing the style! I especially love the interplay between voices and the achievement of making them all playable with only two hands.
Cool to see you're still around :)
@@bistrovogna Thanks :). I even expect to upload stuff soon!
Thank you Trillian, good to see that you're still around. I'm still very grateful for what you did for me back then.
I still come back to this piano arrangement every weeks, it's beautiful
Very beautiful. I rarely find someone who plays the songs on the piano and makes me enjoy it
Incrível como essa música alegra meu coração
this is UNPARALLELED, dude!
Hey man, thank you very much. Good to see you here. This is my 'real' channel. I'm still looking forward to working with you at some point, I love your content. Cheers
Verdegrand is a hidden gem 💎 🎼
I love how your arrangements capture the essence of the originals perfectly. Not something i can say for most other VGM pianists.
I would like you to know that i started my YT channel today(I'm a pianista here in Brazil) and you and Kyle Landry are my biggest inspirations since i begun my studies!
Thanks for amazing us everytime you share your great ideas here!
That is great to hear, thank you. I wish you all the best on your piano journey. Keep it up and you'll make great progress.
I am so happy to hear you play once more. Back before you retired for a while, many youtubers had inspired to to learn to play the piano, and you were among the biggest influences in that. I'm still working on it, I can play some Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Eniaudi, which is not too impresive but it is nice.
In any case, I love how you play, as well as your arrangements.
Thank you, I'm always happy to hear from people who felt inspired by my work to start playing themselves.
I agree. For me, it was Zohar002 that got me into piano initially, and then Verdegrand inspired me to continue and improve.
My favorite 😻
Wow, this, this deserves a lot more of views, it deserves millions of views, but this world is upside down in some ways.
Kyle Bosman would love this
He's a filthy casual who likes Tropical Freeze and never had an SNES.
Absolutely beautiful
Amazing arrangement!
Very nice arrangement and lovely playing!
Wonderfully done, I love it so much~
So beautiful...
Amazing!! Always been a huge fan. Glad to have you back. :)

Verdegrand these Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong covers are fantastic! Very happy I came across your channel.
Simply amazing! Keep up the good work. :)
Thank you! I have a lot of plans for 2019 so make sure to stay tuned.
Amazing!!
Gorgeous arrangement; this is beautifully (and inventively!) fleshed out!
Hey man, good to see you here, thank you for coming over here again.
so beautiful :')
You got a sub, awesome.
Unreal, i can’t believe it’s even possible to play like this. Amazing!
This is the second arrangement I listen to (the first one was a minute ago), when I clicked I began to cry and I could not stop, damn this wonderful thing, thanks to you and David Wise for existing
this was beautiful man. great fucking job. subscribed.
Ha ha ha *trows barrel* - Beatiful arragment!
What a great feeling it must be for David wise to inspire so many creative pianist's to do so creative covers. It's actually insane.
This song is the reason I started playing piano 2 years ago. My currect level is not their yet, but someday... It's on my bucket list to play this fluently.
ABSOLUTELY beautiful, i'm very jealous
You're back!!!!!!!!! I don't know what inspired you to start uploading again but I thank whatever it is SO MUCH your videos bring me so much joy!
Really love this one Verdegrand. One of my faves from your recents :)
Thank you very much, that's great to hear. I have come to really like this piece as well. Going through the arranging and recording has made me appreciate it even more than I had before.
Thank you so Much for doing this piece and bringing all my childhood memories back. You my good Sir are Brilliant best Pianist I have ever heard. ♡
Thank you very much, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. This track in particular is very nostalgic, and the original has a lot of atmosphere that has a strong tendency to evoke just that feeling.
Wow. so perfect.
¡Hijo’ qué bárbaro!, ¡qué manera de llenar!.❤️
Me quito el sombrero ante usted, caballero 👍
Maan this arrangement is something.. Loved it, I remember playing this game during Summer :) keep on Verde!
Thank you, I have memories of playing this game as well, for me it was during Spring.
same game, different season ;P
The fact you don't have at least 1M subscribers is criminal. Imho the best video game pianist on youtube. Thanks for these amazing arrangements. Would love for you to post tabs/sheets of your arrangements so I can attempt to learn them.
Always makes my day to get supportive comments like yours. Thank you very much for your support. Things did not go as I had imagined them to go, but I am on a good path now. As for sheets, I am not sure when that can happen but it is something that I have in the back of my mind.
@@Verdegrand I'm glad to hear it my man, you're most welcome. Anything to help learn would be amazing e.g. Just the treble and bass notes or a midi file (if possible with your current equipment). I'm literally teaching myself how to play piano so I can play your songs so keep it up!
Oh my this was absolutely fantastic! What a great surprise to find new videos from you. By far the best pianist in RUclips.
Thank you very much, comments like these always make my day. Stay tuned for more videos soon.
goosebumps
awesome!
Great arrangement! It makes me happy to see that you're getting into stuff that's a little more technical. It's only a matter of time til you're back to things like Corridors of Time ;)
It's part of my rehabilitation and I think I am on a good path now. Thank you.
i knew this would be fire, i just knew it would
Bravo!
Love this 🍃💖🍂💖🌴💖🍂💖🍃
Sooooo gooood!
Also my second favourite DK piece after Aquatic Ambience. I guess I'm rather mainstream when it comes to DK music, but there's no denying those two are masterpieces...and they soothe my mind every time. Your arrangements are their own masterpieces and so, so true to the original while still being fresh and explorative.
Omg i drip two tears lol it was most beautiful
Bacana!!!👏👏👏Acho firme qm toca as musiquinha do DK.
it's so beautiful ;__;
Thank you eshi, good to see you here.
🔥🔥🔥
nice
涼しい!
fucking killed it!!!!
Verdegrand is back! Really good man.
Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed it. It's good to be back.
I just love soo much this. Been looking for the sheets but i can not find them :( such a beautiful song
Check the top pinned comment, amigo ^^
you rock!
The greatest :)
Thank you.
The best cover man, apart you putted your Mark of diference. Take your like good man
2 views, two thumbs up! You deserve it!
Me encanta!!! bien tocado! Roland 700 (y)
❤️
Good to hear you using CFX again. It's probably the best sounding VST next to Ivory. In previous videos I noticed that you were using Hammersmith. Anyways good arrangement. Can't wait to hear more.
I must admit I am not happy with this entire piano VST technology. It was so simple to just turn on a digital piano and record, but you'll get a better quality with VSTs. The thing is that they all have things that bother me, and I have yet to find one that really pleases me throughout. Ivory will always have a special place in my heart because of the Zohar nostalgia.
@@Verdegrand I would have to agree with you, while VST cant never beat any acoustic piano the sound is pretty impressive. My biggest problem with VSTs is the diminished sound quality. In promotional demos, the companies somehow get a very clean sound (that I can never seem to get) in their piano libraries. It's very misleading.
CFX has a very full sound but I feel that the dynamics are pretty limited since the piano can get very loud and muddy. While Ivory is my personal favorite, my biggest dislike is the absurd requirements it takes to play VST at an exceptional level and the high price.
Que bonito
beautiful, especially on garritan cfx grand!
Still one of the few piano VST plugins that I can take seriously, they did an outstanding job on it.
@@Verdegrand they really did! it is my favorite
talento!
holy cow
Dude, I've heard your new messiah arrangement long ago, but I never enter your channel. This is long overdue.

Eres el Master
I thought you were the man himself!
Absolutely beautiful, you and Zohar are my favorite arrangers by far. Do you happen to take requests/suggestions (or even commissions)?
P.S. Nice choice of headphones!
Thank you, that is a great compliment. Zohar remains one of my biggest inspirations and he played a big role in my early days on RUclips. I am not explicitly taking commissions or requests right now, but I want to start making a living with music soon, so I might start doing that then. With that said, I think I know what piece the people who like this video want to hear from me, and you're gonna get it soon.
And yes I love the Sennheisers. Been very happy with them for a long time.
@@VerdegrandThat's great to hear, I'm looking forward to the new piece! Seems Zohar is an inspiration for a lot of people - I'm currently working on his Corridors of Time + Frog's Theme arrangements, but I'm still very far away from being able to play these pieces without them sounding muddy.
And please let me know when you start considering commissions - I will be the first to get in line :)
masterful. would you ever wanna do a remake of Aquatic Ambience? i think a fresh take on it would be awesome
Thank you. I've actually been thinking of doing that lately, but before I do that I'd rather play some more DKC tracks first. I also don't know if I'd change the arrangement itself too much, but it would still be worth it to rerecord it.
How awesome would it be to play through whatever the next Donkey Kong Country game for Switch will be, only to see Verdegrand in the music section of the end credits?
I feel like I have a long way to go before I can reach that kind of level, especially health wise. But being involved in professional projects would obviously be a great thing for many reasons. Thank you.
It should be criminal to not share/sell the sheets to this superb arrangement. It would be very pleasing to learn this piece and I highly doubt someone will be able to make a better recording of it anyway.
Thanks a lot. I am not sure when I'll start making sheets because there's other things that have priority for me, but I will get into that at some point in the future.
@@Verdegrand I understand (and sorry if I pushed a button). I appreciate your reply!
No worries, you didn't push any buttons. I know that sheets are something that have to happen at some point, and that I want to do as well. I appreciate your comment, too.
😢😍❤😢❤😍
Awesome cover! One of my very favorite David Wise Songs. This remix underlines the easy going vibe very well. 3:45 I love the 8th base resolving into silence.
If you like, check out my street piano version in Augsburg from 2021.
Is there a place were we can get a copy of the sheet or buy it. I cant put into words how amazing this sounds, bravo!
Thank you. There are no sheets for this, at least yet. Might take a while, but making sheets in general is something that's on the back of my mind and I will keep it in mind.
what headphones would you recommend for recording? i’m a song writer and never know what ones to get. using some old Seins
edit: btw this piece is amazing!
: )
俺が聴いた中で1番のピアノアレンジ
what kind of keyboard did you use? or do you use now?
