    Hi Laura & Aaron! I hope this won’t be too long but I’ve been waiting to subscribe & comment for about 5 mos! I recently retired from education last June. I’ve loved calling myself a Gardner all my life but really didn’t feel like a true Gardner until this point in my life where I could devote my time & heart to it. Last fall, when I could no longer do much outside, I began educating myself with videos online & planning my next season! I started looking up videos & sites that taught me about the plants I was interested in. That brought me to you. Your style & zones seemed to fit mine (mostly) & your simple & joyful gardening tips spoke directly to me. I’m sorry to say I had never heard of Garden Answer or you two until I began this journey. When I discovered you actually had a journey of your own, I went back to the beginning season of this property (mid 2016) & began binge watching the videos from beginning to end, chronologically. My husband soon became very familiar with your journey as well haha. Watching your lives change with children was so special. I feel like I know your mom & dad & sis by watching them become more comfortable as your journey evolved. I recently (about a week ago) finished & basically “caught up” to the present. I’m not sure what I will do with my time lol, thankfully the growing season here in Northern IN isn’t too far out! I just had to thank you both, from my heart, for sharing your journey & helping me start mine, (finally! Better late than never). It was a wonderful way to spend the winter months💜

      I appreciate your beautiful and honest comment. It struck a note with me as I’m actively working towards my retirement goal for year end 2024 (but it could be sooner, a whole lot sooner actually!) 😂😂 Although I began watching GA from the start of the pandemic, I can definitely picture myself spending time through the winter months binge watching all of GA’s pre-pandemic videos. Happy retirement and happy gardening adventures!! 🎉🙌🥳🍾🥂🪴👩‍🌾😻

    • @Sherri-vn5qg
      @Sherri-vn5qg 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@missbiggs9437 thank you so much! Let me tell you, if you do binge watch from beginning season to end, watching all videos, many months will pass by lol. I found myself struggling to get my regular things done around the house because I wanted to keep watching…lol my husband would say, let me guess, garden answers? “Hey guys!” ha ha, but he loves it when I find something that I love. I sure hope you get to retire soon, I thought I would just end one job and start something different at a different place, but I just ended up loving my time outside :-) Good luck to you!

    I very much enjoy your sitting in the garden for a minute or so and talking through the projects and sharing your thoughts and insights. My gardening has slowed greatly as my body ages. I have fewer, less involved plantings in smaller space. Evergreens and shrubs with pots of no maintenance flowers fill my love for gardening these days. I love your vitality and new adventures and development of your property. Thanks so much for sharing.

    I don’t usually plant pansies in the spring because they are so short lived. Last year I went through a tough divorce and had to move into a rental, leaving the 4 year old gardens I built from scratch behind. Yesterday I couldn’t help myself and I got out as many pots I could afford to put plants in and filled them with pansies. My little courtyard is so much happier for it. I saved some money by getting some bigger pots that had multiple plants in each and split them up. It’s a nice reminder that after winter always comes spring.

    Laura, can I suggest you grow some hard shell gourds. They are quite satisfying and produce a crop of potential projects once they are dried. They are time consumers but worth it. One season can produces years of potential projects.

    • @RealBradMiller
      @RealBradMiller 5 месяцев назад +5

      I second this. I am going out of my gourd this year. Birdhouse, large and normal, bushel gourd, snake gourd, and a few others whose names escape me. The birdhouse gourds I used to make birdhouses, of course, but any strange or broken ones got turned in to mushrooms. Cut the neck to make the stem, and the bottom of the gourd becomes the mushroom cap. I would stain, woodburn, and Dremel little designs into them. Can't wait to make more, I've given all mine away and missed a few years of gourd growing and exhausted my supply!! 😮
      Have a great day!!!

    Good Morning from Georgia. Spring showers today. Everything is so green and bursting with life. All roses are budding, hostas are up ,glads already pushing up, iris are blooming,dogwoods are opening up. Sadly the daffodils and tulips are spent. Seems some early Spring blooms just won't be around come Easter. But the Azaleas are full of buds,hoping this Spring rain will push them to bloom. Would live to have the colors for Easter. Yellow jasmine is still holding on,but thinking the rain will knock off what's left. All is good,one thing at a time. Oh! My wisteria tree is full of long buds. Most growing in the wild is already showing off. Maybe it to will be in full bloom by Easter.

    It's amazing how many different things everyone is interested in. So many questions about so many different items. Laura you are a wonderful lady , and thanks for being you!!! Please don't change. You haven't since I started watching you many years ago, except you seem more confident in yourself, and on your videos. Enjoy YOUR garden and how you want to do it.

    Thanks for the reminder that it's time to pinch my snapdragon seedlings! I agree that it's hard to do, I always wind up leaving at least a few unpinched so that I get flowers sooner.

    I found growing irises in my compost. I threw them there last year, I thought they were dead! Just planted them in the garden today.

    Oh my , are you ok Laura ? Only a few little plants in those planters , I’m afraid you’ve come down with something . The Laura we all know and love would do no less than a whole flat a thriller and spiller and then stop to look if it’s enough😂😂😂 love all the nice clam spring containers it’s a comfort for the eye. ❤

    If you were to put a fountain in the middle by the Hartley, I could see Herons. I saw it once. Two herons with their necks intertwined stretched to the sky. It would be beautiful.

    I was watching halfway, before you went to change your shoes then went to work 9-5 and was so stressed out, decided to continue while eating dinner. Now, I'm all smiled watching you non-stop creating beautiful garden with your family and blessed Paul and Bethany too, and Benjamin hugging you soooooo tight! it was so beautiful. Thank you for making me smile again.

    Always learning something new! I need to move/divide irises but wasn’t sure how deep to replant them-thanks for taking the time to show us. It will be so strange when the kids are in school and not in videos as much 🥹. Love seeing them help you. ☺️

    Love the children helping you in the garden. It brought tears to my eyes because I miss my girls being little. They are adults now, and I am a senior. Cherish this time with them. It goes by quickly.
