One of the most challenging aspects of the eLearning development process is taking a bunch of raw content and transforming it into a development-ready storyboard. This is especially true when you're new to eLearning. To help make the process easier, I recommend creating an eLearning course outline to help you visualize how your learner will flow from one topic to the next. Once you're done creating your outline, you can then use it as a guide to start drafting your eLearning storyboard.
So, in this video, I'm sharing how to create an eLearning course outline.

I love all of your videos thank you so much!
Glad you like them!
I love how you make it sound so easy. I use the Excel sheet to create my Content outline or ToC we call it. It helps me also to outline the objectives of each topic and also write a little bit about how each screen will be created. This helps the client to understand the breakdown of the module and also how the topic or the screen will be treated.
Thanks for sharing, Chaitali!
Very nice video, Tim! This is more or less how I have been working and it is reassuring to see that I am somehow on the right track. And I also got some additional insights for the process! Very helpful, thank you very much!
Thanks, Gabriela!
Thank you, Tim! This is very helpful.
You're very welcome!
Hello Tim, thanks for great video! I have a question. If we are just told to create a course topic or title without much details. What methods we can use to gather more information to come up with topic ideas? Like , should I make a learning need analysis with target group Or should I simply ask them what are the crucial topics they want and need to learn? maybe something else.
Great question! My suggestion would be to start with some sort of analysis process. Here's a great workflow that may help you: community.elearningacademy.io/c/knowledge-base/how-to-conduct-a-needs-analysis-instructional-design
Thank you, Tim! Great video! Got a question. What do you mean when you say the Main Menu as an interactive exerices?
Hey Sarah! Thanks for watching and commenting...when I refer to interactivity, I'm talking about how you might make an eLearning course interactive by adding scenarios, quiz questions, etc. Here's an article, which might help explain: elearningacademy.io/blog/how-to-design-performance-based-elearning-interactions/
