I am not normally a Beretta fan but that looks amazing. I have the ultra xs black laminate already so this is right up my alley!

I love the laminates. I think this is a great step for beretta. I really wish more manufacturers would do laminate stocked shotguns.
but lammiate looks like cheap compare to the classic walnut, Berretta lower the production cost on this one
I dont think so. From a usability standpoint. It's better. They probably did lower the production cost. But I guarantee it will be at a higher price point.

Which gun is good for a beginner?
There are many good guns for beginners! It all depends on the shooter, the best thing to do would be to go and get a feel for the guns in person.
If your budget will allow, we would suggest a Beretta silver pigeon 1, a Browning 525 sporter one or a Miroku MK38 grade 1

just seen this for sale at the gun room holme upon spalding moor for £3000 so about 400 more than a browning ultra xs black laminate i dought there would be much between them performance wise i do like the orange tho

Which would be a better gun to buy, beretta 688 performance or browning ultra xs black laminate, can't decide between the two?
I have a 688 and my mate has a Browning XS ultra black laminate so I have shot both. They feel different in your hands so you really need to pick up and see which fits you best and if you can test, which you find better.
They are both very nice guns.
What’s the difference between the sporting and the other models?
They are only producing a sporting and a trap at the moment, the difference will be stock dimensions, rib width 10x10 on the trap and the traps will be fixed choke. The trap gun will also have a beavertail forend!
@ I see! Thanks for clarifying. As someone who recreationally shoots trap every Sunday and would maybe be interested in skeet or sporting clays down the line, do you think the sporter would be a good all around choice?
The stock can take the weights as my 692 ?
Yes the 688 can have stock weights but they are not supplied with the gun they are brought separately
Does this have a Mid bead?
No mid bead but you could have one fitted
LH versions?
Yes there will be a left handed version
Love the look of this gun, I wanted the ultra xs in laminate but couldn't get one. Are they back in production yet?
The xs laminate is back in production and we are hoping to see some before Christmas and early next year
Stock dimensions?
Dimensions on the Sporter are 35/55
Dimensions for the trap are 35/45
What kind of barrel is it, please steelium or steelium plus or what.
Steelium barrel, the same barrel you would find on a silver pigeon with the double forcing cone (80mm)

I am a tall bloke with long arms. What's the max. length of pull? And is it easy to get your hands on the fitting backplates/spacers from beretta?
There is not technical max LOP. We sell spacers and could fit the gun no problem
looks wise I don’t see the point I’d rather go with a 690
And get that lovely grade 0.5 wood? Nah
Get a 694 and make sure you pick the exact gun. Then you can get good wood

Berretta and Browning competing against each other again pitch sales again.
They are rival brands, and it's good to see both sides making efforts to outperform each other. It means we get to see some great ideas and innovations from both companies, each with their own style.
