Tanzania partners with China to build country's first fishing port

- The modern fishing port located in Kilwa district will be able to support more commercial fishing in the deep sea. The port will be equipped with facilities for processing and storing fish.

Why can’t the government train their people to become engineers so they can build necessary infrastructure?
Do you think Tanzania does not have engineers at all?

Maybe u mean the big contractors, coz Engineers there verry many and ever year there graduates in different universities across the country, most of the government projects there using Tanzania Engineers and consultants, JHPP, SGR,MAGUFULI BRIDGE those are mega projects which was supervised by demostic engineers
There are engineers the projects are done by contractors, but for the contractor to win the tender for the project, the contractor has to be financially stable to be able to carry out the project from start to finish without being bankrupt. And that's why most projects are won by international contractors because local contractors don't have enough funds to complete the Billion/ even Million dollar projects without facing bankruptcy. But the government of Tanzania has been able to back it's local contractors for Loan from the African Development Bank(AfDB) to finance the local contractors for projects starting the next financial year.

The local fisherman Will not be able to compete with them massive ships that are be coming in with this port. The local fisherman are going to be done.
That is how it ALWAYS goes when Big Tech/Corporations comes into a local area:
Obliterate or economically overpower & completely strip everything (ALL natural resources, community, & small business) from that area until theres nothing left, forcing the locals to have no other choices left except to join the "destroyer" (company) since its the ONLY way left to be able to feed & house their families.
Either _that_ or be Permanently forced out of the area by the new Big Corporation (find a way to leave) in order to survive. Always the same sad story with never any happy ending for the victims sadly.

In Sanyang, The Gambia, Chinese came. They built a factory, and started to empty the ocean of fish. They also littered the beach. In March 2021, the exasperated people from the village torched the factory and the boats. One was killed.
@@Arriyad1 They did not come by themselves but Gambia government ask them to build, Gambia government empty the ocean to feed the rich. Stop blaming china for no reason.

The poor fishermen will be out of business . The Chinese will bring large ships and take all the fishes . Fight the power.
