Yea I think that Power Rangers actually uses a lot of footage from Super Sentai, which is hwy it comes after. It's pretty cool how, even if the transformations are changed, they still feel like they're choreographed in a Super Sentai style.

Yes, that's correct. For MMPR however, they went through all the Super Sentai footage for that particular series, so Saban asked the original Japanese producer to make more Super Sentai-type footage specifically for them to use.

Actually Stan Lee was the one who wanted to bring sentai to America in the first place which is why Zyuranger was used later in the 90s because that's the one they had planned on using originally

Just an aside, one of the cool things the super sentai did in a recent series was had one of the rangers say "its morphin time" in English in the show before a climatic transformation. It was nice to see Super Sentai waving back at its little brother and how far its come.

So did Disney. Think about that.
If Disney hadn't sold Power Rangers BACK to Saban (we wouldn't have gotten Super Mega Force, which would've been a blessing) Disney would still have Power Rangers along with everything else they own now.
For all we know they might've even tried working Power Rangers into the MCU

Around 2010 or so was when I found out Power Rangers was from Japan Super Sentai. I've always notice the difference when they used stock footage but I was too young to understand. It all makes sense now haha
I'm honestly a fan of both, but there are a few exceptions. Super Mega being one, and I'm not really a fan of Abaranger. Yet I still like both. Honestly would love to see your reaction to the themes.

My favourites so far are Gingaman and Liveman. I started watching these shows a few months ago to practice my Japanese and I became addicted
Liveman is just such a trip love the theme song love the designs and the story had a great element of betrayal and revenge and Colon was probably one of the least irritating robot sidekick I've seen... Looking at you Alpha 5
I think it’s worth mentioning that the plots are sometimes totally different. It’s definitely interesting seeing how different everything is.
Interesting fact: a tv producer saw supersentai and he thought it be a good idea to adapt supersentai. Although it was ambitious and to save money they're run sentai clips. I believe teoi knowns the rights to supersentai if I'm wrong please correct me. But they made deal to soban that all supersentai and power rangers must go in order. And few years later power rangers was popular. Back in mighty Morphin 3rd season they were running out of sentai clips so soban asked Teoi to make more clips and they did. The company that handled power rangers was soban, Disney , soban again then hasbro
I think originally, Saban wasn't even going to have different actors. He had been trying to bring Super Sentai to the US since the 80's.

I love watching Power Rangers and of course Super Sentai. Fun fact, some of Power Rangers series also did in Japanese dub.
Super Sentai has more soul when they transform.
Also Super Sentai Opening Are all different ... Unlike Power Rangers after Samurai ... After a year of the same song over and over till now I just bailed on power ranger

Samurai onward started making use of the same melody as Mighty Morphin, among other things ("Go Go [Power Rangers] Samurai/Megaforce"), for nostalgia purposes with very mixed results.

Power Rangers original first 4 seasons were the best for me. After that it felt like the momentum kind of began to slow down,or maybe I was just becoming too teenaged 🤣

I'm sure you mean mighty morphing seasons 1-3 and the zeo season right? Turbo is universally hated. In fact I quit watching power rangers at age 7/8 because Turbo was so awful. So I missed the redemption that is in space.
Finally someone who (*kinda) agrees with me! Ive always thought the BEST power rangers were MMPR-Lost Galaxy (1993-1999)...after that it just started looking lame as hell & ii lost entrance.

One of the biggest differences between Super Sentai and Power Rangers is the theme song. Super Sentai Spirits, the concert of Super Sentai songs. I cannot imagine if Power Rangers have their own concert. Maybe they just sing Go Go Power Rangers till the end.

1. Gao Ranger (Wild Force)
2. Mega Ranger (in Space)
3. Dai Ranger (MMPR season 2)
4. Akibaranger (The parody show of sentai, but it was also produced by Toei)
Ps. Now I'm watching Battle Fever J (The third sentai in history)
A video like this makes me hope for a time that there's an episode that's a massive dimensional collision where Power Rangers team up with their Sentai Counterparts.

Traditionally there USED to be a 1 to 2 year gap between when a Sentai series aired in Japan,and when it became Power Rangers in the USA...

I think and believe you're the only person from Japan that did this. I can't find no one else. I've been looking to watch japanese reactions to zyuranger since I know just like in america, japanese kids now adults grew up on it but nope. Just you so far. I definitely want to get more into tokusatsu stuff, I grew up on Power Rangers and on Godzilla, and because of that got into stuff like Go Nagai, and Evangelion, and I really appreciate the visuals, I love the way they contrast heroic designs with villainous ones
One interesting detail - Super Sentai change much more as team. Power rangers have more emphasis on red ranger
now we have beast morphers (which was made in 2019) where as it's sentai counter part tokumei sentai go-busters was in (2012-2013) I believe and Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger (2019-2020) with it's PR counterpart Dino fury airing in 2021.

If you havent, you should see the first thunder megazord fight, along with a japanese dub of power rangers. Its wild.
What I really want to hear about, while it is a bit more of an involved topic, is how you feel about the localized storylines. For example Zyuranger all the way to the end of Megaranger was effectively one continuous storyline known as the "Zordon Saga" that I think was.....well received? There was also insane use of stock footage and careful cut aways for some battles because they didn't get any of the zord suits until the end of the "Dairanger" band of enemies.
Somehow....it got re-dubbed in for Japanese audiences.

Yes the Japanese are made first. Then the necessary footage is used for the American versions. I'll always love Zyuranger best because that has Dragon Caesar, the best Guardian Beast ever. And I'll always love the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the same reason known in America as the Dragonzord. Plus we have the really exciting rock music.
Power rangers transformations are big differences as they are more fast and the high speed makes the transformation sequence intense

Not completely.
For example, the sentai Power Rangers In Space used footage from was set in a video game, not space at all. And the sentai footage used for Lost Galaxy was set in mountains and Forests on Earth, not in a space Colony that travelled across the Universe.
And don't even get me started on the changes, all bad, that Mega Force and Super Mega Force did to the Sentai THEY were using footage from

I was in the Navy 1975 to 1984 and so I was in Japan many times, mostly Yokouska and Sasebo, and I was an early fan of Anime and Manga and Japanese action shows on TV. I even went to Japanese movie theaters and saw the Original Macross movie, Lupin 3rd, etc. I probably first saw what I believe was early Super Sentai around 1979 or 1980. Didn't know what it was, couldn't understand what they were saying, but I loved it. I am currently trying to collect Super Sentai seasons, so far I only have 6. Hopefully get my 7th next month. I have Zyuranger, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Ohranger, Carranger, and Megaranger.

Never seen anyone from Japan react to Power Rangers. I technically like both franchises. But there's haters of Power Rangers called Sentai purists. They bash bully anyone who are fans of Power Rangers. They also bash bully neutrals. They also call Power Rangers a bootleg
Can't blame them really .... Have you seen how they bastardised the Anniversary series ( Gokaiger ) and Goseiger ... Dear God remembering those just pissed me off more on how bad it was and how it killed my love for Power Rangers . Like I still like Mighty morphing up to RPM . But that's about it . After that it's all the same Go go power Ranger opening

@@MJCline how about just 1 season with 40+ episodes . Also maybe it's just me but using the same song over and over for the past few years gets tiring. At least in Super Sentai they bothered to actually write original songs for each series

fun fact about Power Ranger USA: the first couples seasons. they use alot of clips from Super Sentai. mostly in some the fighting scenes, when their in their power suits, in the robot. we call it, the Mega Zords, and also when the Main evil Witch and her minions (i don't know, they call her in Japan on super sentai) we just call her: Rita. shows up on the show. i remember we used laugh how her lips aren't matching the voice. right after the first movie. they start to make more scenes in the USA. and Rita mouth matches her voice lol

I wish the US would have fully adapted Dairanger. Power Rangers used footage from that and mixed it with the Zyuranger footage towards the end of the "Mighty Morphin" era. Like, instead of the Green Ranger dying, he just lost his powers, and he became the white tiger ranger. Though, the other rangers stayed the same.
When I watched Dairanger, I was like, "Whaaat? White ranger is a perverted little boy?" lol
That one and Jetman are my favorites. I love the chi powers they all had in Dairanger.
And the Dairanger suits were so awesome!
I started from watching all Power Rangers seasons (minus Mighty Morphin, Zeo, Alien). Then i watched some Super Sentai and after few seasons i realy started to like it especialy Zyuohger and Kyuranger and now im so hyped i watch each new season oh and Kamen Riders too.

The crossover episodes from that season are the only ones worth watching.
Michael 590 wild force wasn’t too bad. But it certainly was jarring going from the incredible acting and story in time force to... well... the awkward moments where no one talks and there’s only faint music in the background or the horrid acting at points not to mention the story- okay yes it was bad. But it wasn’t bad as in unwatchable. Just bad in the point that they didn’t finish the story correctly (merrick and princess shayla love story as well as Kendall and Danny) It was a loveable team but the acting and story is what really needed work.
That's right. Power Rangers was made after Super Sentai aired.
My preference for which one is better.
MMPR - (Since it actually has one)
Kakuranger (Pretty neat transformation)
Zeo - (Has more detail, the roll call in the sequence is also pretty cool)
Turbo - Actually has an effect.
Megaranger/In Space - Tie
Gingaman - The Lost Galaxy one feels rushed.
Lightspeed Rescue - The Shield is certainly a better effect.
Timeranger - Can't even tell whats happening in Time Force
Gaoranger/Wild Force - Tie
Ninja Strom - the effects for Hurricanger have not aged well.
Dino Thunder - Abaranger has too many spins and flashes.
Dekaranger - This was a tough call, I do think Deka is more graceful though.
Mystic Force - Another close one, but the extra detail helps
Boukenger - OO is way too busy that you can't tell what's going on.
Jungle Fury - Another close one, I had to look up Gekiviolet and GekiChopper VS Wolf & Rhino Ranger to break this one.
Go-Onger - RPM's is too busy.
Shinkenger - Samurai's is way too long.
Goseiger - Same deal as above
Gokaiger - Has the better detail over Super Megaforce
Kyrouger - I like the transformation sequence, but it almost lost this one with the samba dance.
I don't know if anyone had noticed, but in the Kyoryuger/Dino Charge comparison part, Dino Charge was on latin spanish

I Love both super sentai and power rangers. スーパー戦隊とパワーレンジャーの両方が大好きです。
I grew up with Power Rangers from the very beginning so when I discovered that it was based off Super Sentai, I started watching it starting with Gokaiger so if I were to pick a favorite Sentai season it would be a tie between Zyuohger and Kyuranger and as for Power Rangers, I loved almost all of them except for a handful of seasons.
My favorite part about Sentai is definitely the Henshin and of course the Mecha/zords as well.
It's sad some Power Rangers fans don't know that the show is a localization of the real deal.
It's also annoying that Power Ramger's is called "Seban's Power Rangers." *The audacity.*
