@@AndyRCchannel I've shortened the URL with store link. It's not deleted yet.
@@AndyRCchannel I am going to test possible LLPM link among the 33 BLE's.
Could you please link what exact servos you all are using for pan ,tilt?
I'm currently using a 360⁰ servo which is continuous and all though it works on my wing FX-61 because I can use the yaw/Rudder because obviously wings don't use rudder so I use it for pan. This would be an issue though on standard plane setups though.
Thanks.
Yet another amazing video Andy. No one on RUclips does as much for the hobby as yourself. Thanks from the community.
This
Sweet, knew you'd be one of, if not the first to figure this out. Great work Andy
Excellent presentation on the wireless head-tracker install! Love it! Looking forward to see how it works with Motionsic BAG (BadAss Gimbal) P & T.
Thank you very much for your videos from Hamilton Ontario CANADA MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT
Thanks Andy, I’ve always hated that wire from the trainer jack on the controller to the goggles’ head tracker.
Fantastic, Andy! Thanks a lot! 😃
Pretty simple system! And seems to work great!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Just getting into FPV but this is the future. Excited to see where you take this!
I know this is an old video, but I've followed along most of the steps... the only part I cannot get working is that my new TX16S (which has Bluetooth built in from the factory) cannot see the Arduino to bind to. Any thoughts? Any chance of an updated video? 😁 The HeadTracker version is 2.2 as of today. Thanks!
@AtlayGaming Hello, am on the exact same path as you right now. Did you fix the problem ? Are you sure new tx16s controllers have build in bluetooth ??
Thanks for this Andy mate! My kit should arrive shortly and this video will be perfect for helping me install and set it up
If i dont have the goggle adapters where do i plug those pins?
I had a hard time getting this to work on my tx16s. The v2 GUI and v2 firmware did the trick.
Awesome work mate! Much respect from Australia
Awesome! I've just purchased the Bluetooth board via the link. Just to say though that at 4:35 when it shows the Bluetooth board... I'm guessing that's not the latest FrSky board, because it's using an antenna wire, whereas from researching it seems to be that the FrSky board has an onboard antenna, so no separate antenna needed. Please comment though, especially if I have this wrong.
I'll have to check out the schematic diagram of this Jumper T12 Pro and see if I can install the Bluetooth module. That sounds nice by itself.
I have successfully flashed both the bootloader and frsky firmware to a generic RF-BM-S02 module which is the same as the FrSky module but comes shipped without the required bootloader or firmware and confirmed it working in a radiomaster.
I did my first one by soldering 30 gauge silicone wires to the pads but I have a programming clip on order which will allow me to flash more modules without soldering to to them and plan to put some on eBay as I can get generic modules cheaply from China but they need both a bootloader and the firmware flashing to them which annoyingly is done by different pads and different flashing tools but does not take long once you have it figured out.
Ah that's great. EBay sounds like the best bet. I'll buy one off ya
For those guys like me that either can't source an Arduino board here in the US or just like plug and play, there is a young guy here in US making the external Head Tracking Units. The company name is Medlin Drone. I would add the link but RUclips will probably remove it.
Thanks for Sharing this!! Great stuff. I'll be adding this for my mini Talon and FX-61 phantom wing.
cool tracker, Does the TX16S have bluetooth modulу?
What about the IX20 remote control, it already has bluetooth, so what else should be added to the remote control?
Andy, I am about to set up this system with a Taranis X9D Plus 2109 Access radio. I can't get the Bluetooth part figured out. Can't locate the Trainer/bluetooth mode. Can you tell me how? I have my Arduino nano ble board configured.
Doesnt look like my original x9d plus has the bluetooth built-in, gonna have to take it apart to see if its fits inthere :)
what are the flight distance of the head tracker and Taranis 9XD Plus 2019?
Hi Andy what do I need to get to get to do your make this happen. I might sound 🤪 I have always wanted to fly model planes but never got use to the controls and I have never seen this before and I am very excited as I would love to get a set up and buy a plane to put this into your help will be greatly appreciated thank you have an amazing day
Great video. Can you explain more information or video talk above for how to install a Bluetooth module? many thanks.
This video is exactly how to do it. No other steps
can not find drivers for win7 intel....the included drivers do not work....going to program using win10
Great video, thanks. I tried to load my Nano 33 board onto the GUI keep getting an error message saying “ was unable to determine the board type” and they will not let me connect . I am using a Nano 33 BLE (ABX00034). Any suggestions for me appreciate it. Thanks
Sounds like you are trying to use the wrong configurator
@@AndyRCchannel Is there another configurator? I thought this was the only one.
Great video Andy. Will this work with an Ix12 TX?
would love to do fpv on my plane but this is way to complicated for me
Hi, Cool video thanks! I want to buy a new rc system, and I am a bit confused regarding the head tracker connection. what should I look in terms of connectivity of the remote controller to ensure I buy a system that can be connected wireless to the headtracker? thanks!
Cool project. Just a heads up: My black PLA tends to get very soft after a while in direct sunlight (and so does the blue one).
I'd love to get some direct sunlight this year haha. What would be better petg? The trackers iv been using up to now are pla and still in same shape
Can you make it work together with analog module?
Amazing!! I would like to know how much distance the head tracker can transmit and how much distance does the FPV GOGGLES can show.
Very kindly, I hope you respond.
Not very far. You want the head tracker on your head and holding the transmitter or at least a seat very close next to you
Mine is a crossfire full side with bluetooth, can I use it with this arduino module, I do not have bluetooth in the radio or the version of opentx for bluetooth.
will it work with a Spektrum IX12
great video. does this also work with a frsky r9m?
Will this head tracker work with spectrum dx8 transmitter. YOUR VIDS ARE AWESOME !!!
Thank you. It will only work with transmitters where the trainer can receive an input signal. Most just do output signals
Very great work English Andy thank for chare 👍👌🙏🤗
Would this work on a Tango 2 or Mamba Radio?
What is the latency? Can it work with a tbs tracer? 😉😉
Its bluetooth so there will be a little latency, but you can see from the video that its certainly not bad. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with tracer.. it will work with any protocol and receiver unless all your channels are already in use. this will need 2 spare channels to work.
Hello, Great Video! I have the Spectrum NX8 and new to the hobby. What feature does the Taranus have that makes it work. They look similar so I am hoping I can do it.
It has input from the trainer port spectrum only has output
What's the latency on the tracker? Will it work with a QX7S ? 😃
Haha oops. Latency is good and yes haha
Thanks for the excellent video. If the Arduino Nano 33 BLE is flashed with firmware version that requires for connecting it to the radio trainer via a barrel plug, can it be re-flashed again later on with a firmware version which allows it to connect to the radio controller wirelessly via bluetooth? Thanks.
it certainly can :)
Heii andyy..
Can you teach about how to configurator the Remote by wiring?
If you look on cliffs website in the description it shows you how to do a wired version cheers
Is it useful for quad?
I'm using the x9d plus accst version.
I set this all up a couple months ago.
I started by running a mono jack into the trainer port and it worked like a charm.
I then bought a second arduino and set it wireless, again with a mono jack to the trainer port, and it did work, although with some lag and some jitter.
I ended up going back to the wired setup.
Is it possible to solder the ardino into my radio? Maybe use the the uart connection? Do you think it would be less finicky than through the trainer port?
It is possible but if you were having problems then you will have the same problems with it inside your radio. Plus its always turned on with that method.
Did you use the same github Code for your wired setup? Just solder the mono jack to the arduino and it works?
@@he1nz453 There was a seperate (slave) firmware in the folder. I flashed the second arduino with that code.
It did work, it was just laggy and jittery. I went back to the wired configuration and It worked perfectly again?
The Bluetooth thing would have been cool, but I just built up a custom cable that will power both the arduino and the goggles from a lipo in my back pocket, and ran the signal cable back down the same line and split it off to my taranis.
I added another momentary switch to ground just before the 3.5mm, so I have a centering button that velcros to the back of my radio.
Just wanted to confirm Andy.. I need to use the head tracker wired because i have my internal Bluetooth module on my Tx16S MK1 connected to a mini crossbow tracker... therefore I need to use the PPM Para master Firmware? Is that Right?
That's correct yes
@@AndyRCchannel Thank you!!! Kudos to your channel!!!
Looks pretty great! Is there a way how to make it work with Flysky nirvana radio?
Sadly not
The FrSky Bluetooth module is based on non frsky hardware but with frsky firmware on it.
I am trying to get a non frsky module working at the moment, I have managed to flash a bootloader to it but now I have a bootloader, I'm trying to figure out how to make it respond to a firmware flashing attempt which has so far not played ball.
People with a horus radio can flash non frsky modules with the firmware from your radio, it flashes them when they are installed I am told by someone in the know.
Don't know if the jumper or radiomaster radios will do the same but I'll try it with the module soldered in using 30awg silicone wires rather than directly to the board as removing it again will be easy to go back to programmer flashing attempts if it does not work.
You need the one without the ufl connector 30gbp. That one works. Radio master themselves confirm that works. The one I took out of my Horus worked also. But that will have their firmware on it then I guess?
@@AndyRCchannel yeah, I have the module with the integrated antenna, mine was £5 from China 😀
The module is a RF-BM-S02 irrespective of antenna type if you didn't know the part number already, that's what the FrSky module is but the ipex/ufl version as you obviously know.
Yes, the one taken from your horus will already have the correct firmware on it, installing another module without the firmware to your horus would result in your horus flashing the firmware to that module also.
That's promising news regarding the radiomaster, looks like I know what I'll be attempting after dinner, fingers crossed 😀
I have the FrSky module firmware if anyone is interested in it, it's not easy to find!
@@wakkaflakkadown what Andy is doing or the FrSky Bluetooth module in the tx series transmitters?
Thanks for the great video. I have made a 3d print and the only thing to do is solder the module in my Radioamster TX16S.
What is the best way to enable bleutooth on my Radiomaster with EdgeTX 2.6?
same as it is in openTX
@@AndyRCchannel Thanks. EdgeTX is not the same as OpenTX. Write FW to TX is not posible in EdgeTX. Builds option can not be changed and write to TX. In OpenTX it was no problem.
@@Ard1400 Thats not what he was asking. He was asking how to enable blutooth in edge TX and its the same as openTX
What other goggles will this work with? Will a Spektrum radio work also?
It will work with any goggles it just wont be as neat of a solution. Not sure about spektrum as I dont use it. If the trainer port can accept a signal in as well as out then it can do it. but would advise against spektrum as it does not have the control range needed for FPV only line of sight.
I have a friend that flies a trainer, top wing out of visual range and back with Spektrum Dx9 and a full range 6ch receiver but he doesn't use a head tracker. My radio had wired or wireless trainer set up
Can you recommend a decent affordable goggles? Was thinking Eachine Ev800D ?
@@michaelmickoberhaus8009 yes those would be my go to budget goggle
@@michaelmickoberhaus8009 Just had too many failsafes, flyaways and a lot of money lost using spektrum for BVLOS. Its nicknamed team failsafe in the fpv community. You want to be using a radiomaster TX16 with crossfire or ELRS. Much cheaper with a range of 50km plus
Can that little bluetooth board be installed in Taranis x9d plus?
I have the Motionsic side mounted tracker and gimbal, but would like to go wireless between them without using a second exterior board that plugs into the trainer port (thats of course under my CRSF Lite module).
Only way u can do it is hard solder another Arduino board to the trainer port
@@AndyRCchannel is that easy to do? And would it permanently take over the jack so that it wouldnt work with a plug and 2nd tx trainer?
Edit..
I checked out the github page.. in the “bridged” diagram it looks like the regular/original jack input would be rewired into D9 on the Arduino board, would then combine channels 1-4 with the HT channels then it’d send it all out of D10 into the original jack-to-tx input.. maybe?
That jack is probably hard on a board though, problematic to reroute original plug I’ll bet.. need to crack it open, but hate to do that, I was just partially into it to install Hall gimbals. Ugh..
What irks me.. I ordered a Taranis x9d plus 2019 that would have been PARA… but instead getfpv sent me a standard x9d plus with a R9M that I sold off in favor of crsf. Thought I made out on that deal.. until now :/
Yeah Andy as always, nice work..... BUT.....its always the Dennis Frie Version of the tracker, and its worse - really, it is. sooo much fails, so much drift (but they said, it didnt) - i tried this for years to fix - but its worse - so i never want to use it...and u will see it, if u fly that much, as i did - every day.
are you referring to this head tracker? no drift at all works perfect and updated even more for lower latency since this vid i believe... literally changed my life and the hobby for me
Ola sou do Brasil sera que consigo fazer isso e um robo?
How'd you make this? Looking to build something like this but then on a car.
All the info is in the video. There are no parts missing. You problem with a car is their controllers have no trainer in port they are all trainer out.
@@AndyRCchannel hmmm I'll have to find a workaround for that then. Thank you so much! :)
@@MrCow579 there's a guy who used an easy Arduino board and re coded the pwm signals so it would work. Look up rc car controller for head tracking
@@AndyRCchannel will do, I appreciate the help :)
I don't know if you mentioned it and i missed but does this work only for CRSF? Also can this be done in Betaflight?
It will work with any protocol providing you have 2 channels spare. Yes it can be done in betaflight... see painless360's quanum headtracker guide and follow the same steps just at the betaflight section.
HOW MUCH YOU BOUGHT IT?
Hell yeah!!! Ive been wanting to do head tracking for a while and this looks amazing. Anybody know if the original Jumper T16 has the solder pads for the Bluetooth module?
There are at least two different BT modules that will fit in the TX16s (on it's BT site) If you buy the wrong one it won't work. I played it safe and used a second arduino (wired it directly to the trainer port). I put the arduino inside the battery bay. You need to read the thread on RCGroups to get a better idea of your options. ( if you use it don't forget to buy him a beer or two!) www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3822641-FPV-Head-Tracker-Single-board-wireless-easy
@@Chilternflyer Thanks a lot for the info!
@@flipfpv yes it has the pads and you can buy a generic RF-BM-S02 (same as the FrSky but without the correct firmware) module and flash it with the bootloader and then the firmware for much less than buying an Frsky module.
I have done it and confirmed it working in the radio
@@stevefox3763 That's great! Thanks a lot for the info, Steve! Much appreciated.
Thank you ❤
Will it work with a spectrum IX12??
Does the radios trainer port allow input signals as well as output? Spektrum is very limited with features and range so I wouldn't recommend spectrum for fpv in general
@@AndyRCchannel I have a barf bag set up for the camera.
I would like to hook it up to a spectrum ix12 hooked up to an air unit with that tracking system basically with your exact headset that you have with analog and DJI capability 😍
