Rick Wakeman made a comment about playing with Keith Emerson during his tribute. Apparently they were friends and entertained the idea. If I remember correctly the managers or record companies were very much against it. Two powerhouse masters of the keyboard together on an album.......wow!

Scoprii gli ELP scambiando a malincuore un LP dei Deep con il primo degli ELP, gruppo che non conoscevo e quindi non ero tanto convinto della scambio...e poi boom 💥 però Lord è fenomenale e come gli altri due, difficilmente riproducibile, soprattutto nei soli, che a mio parere sono anche difficili da trascrivere...

Però Emerson è inarrivabile sia tecnicamente che compositivamente, inoltre, a differenza di Wakeman, è stato anche uno sperimentatore (Moog etc etc) e a suo modo, anche un divulgatore per i suoi arrangiamenti dei brani classici, insuperabili ( la patetica con i Nice, tanto per cominciare) Un saluto,B.
un confronto ha poco senso, sono due lati della stessa medaglia, tecnicamente e dal punto di vista della composizione hanno sfumature diverse, spesso Emerson ha inserito brani altrui nelle sue composizioni non dimentichiamolo, mentre Wakeman no. Al pianoforte hanno stili diversi ma si equivalgono, l uso dei synth ha visto Emerson precursore, sulle parti orchestrali entrambi si sono affidati a direttori d orchestra negli album, Emerson piu originale ed innovativo , Wakeman melodia e tecnica che si avvitano insieme verso l' alto.. Onore a due grandissimi.

Ed è un grandissimo improvvisatore più in generale.Ad esempio, i suoi assoli su "Roundabout" sono sempre diversi. Idem la maggior parte dei suoi solo spot con gli Yes. I numerosi video live su RUclips mi hanno aperto un mondo. Va inoltre considerato il suo straordinario lavoro con gli Strawbs, poco conosciuto a molti.
Yes made much of my youth. After, I bought all of Wakeman's solo albums, anyone remember the Winter Olympics one? But those words referring to King Arthur were so shocking on Wakeman's solo album, I had ordered it from a village in County Meath, Ireland. Keith was another favourite, his classical composition was great. I met Wakeman many years later in a theatre in Dublin after his raconteur show & mustered some words of thanks for all the gift of Yes. He looked at me as if I had spoken ill of the dead or something.
Thank you for doing this video. Kudo's bud....as good as Rick Wakeman was ( and I think his organ in Close to the Edge was brilliant ) had more strict classical influences. While obviously Keith had those influences, his brilliance musically and phenomenal keyboard abilities at infusing jazz, blues and whatever took him to a higher place. Both great talents in the Prog world....and your a great player as well....

@@doctorbruno I was a young teen when I saw ELP at the Hollywood Bowl when they first came to America. That night changed my life and direction as a keyboard player and composer. I went on to have some success in the music industry where my band had an endorsement with Moog. With that I met and heard a lot of artists, including Rick Wakeman and Yes. It was an incredible time for creativity and music. I miss that.

Ciao Adam, about the percussion: classic jazz and rock set up: perc on, volume soft, fast decay and 3rd harmonic. About the drawbars setting I used a preset of the black keys (the A note). So, actually I don't know which is the drawbars combination inside the organ, I'm sorry. For the upper manual, at the beginning, I have also the chorus 3 on.

You're very good. I was fortunate enough to see both of them live, Wakeman with Yes in 1976 and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in 1977.
