My mom bought the 45 when it was first released and told 5yo me, "Remember this. This is going to be a huge sign and will impact the world." 40 years later, this is still my favorite Christmas song and i still remember the impact it continues to have. ❤
in my humble opinion as amazing all the vocals are with the outstanding talent we had back then my favourite part of that great song is phil collins drums it just makes all the difference
I remember when the original Band Aid came out and brought the song. Love this song and all the artists that took part. It’s sad that some of them are no longer with us 😢🥰
These are the brilliant creative people who didn't become normies and brought some amazing meaning to our lives, and managed to save the sad dumb materialistic AF 80's from itself ... Love them!
So much music history in '84 and '85. So many great tracks benefiting so many people around the world. Today, we see that but we do not see groups of people makin a song to benefit whatever cause they are passionate about
Lyrical irony! Sting, the artist, singing about “the bitter sting of tears” layers an unintentional pun on his name with the emotional weight of the phrase. Whether it was deliberate or not, it adds a clever twist to the line.
I really wish they'd go back and scan the original films of this. This is a piece of history. It needs a proper restoration. Edit: OMG... they DID scan it! ruclips.net/video/V6_6PzRQ9sQ/видео.html
Status Quo were coked up and couldn't get themselves together enough to record their part. They were the only participants who's guest vocals were dropped.
The synth melody is driving me nuts, bec i think I've heard it somewhere else in the 80s, maybe a TV show, it's very familiar , not the exact same , i think Midge Ure stole 5 notes from the Airwolf TV show theme.
And Freddie Mercury????
You talking bout the long haired dude? He is a famous British comedian. OR at least I think he was famous back than. I never found him particularly funny.
Doesn`t need to be a problem, maybe just didn`t worked right then, that day. Don`t need to drop the women-card all the time , it`s 40 year ago ....and I`m women,
Only just dawned on me, what an amazing producer Midge Ure is ;)
This song is one of favorite songs to only listen to once a year...Much better than 'we are the world''
おもいでわ 永遠に忘れない そしてまた 心が 暖かくなる
Those drum fills are great.
Because he's Fill Collins!

14:11-14:46 love that groove,so slick,so smooth,what a pro.
Does anyone besides me think that Midge should have been knighted alongside Sir Bob?
Absolutely 100%
Of course! Midge Ure was just as important, he deserves the credit
Definitely ❤
Absolutely!!!
No doubt!
Amazing! See how Simon Le Bon looks at Bono after Bono's great vocals!

This is the the best Christmas song
They all look like kids. Well, most of them anyway.
And some of them are gone now.
It was a special point in history.
George looks absolutely adorable

Love this, Boy George and everyone, 🫶 Midge Ure 💕🎄🌟
Midge is a legend.
Boy George - don't be fooled by the image and persona - hell of a voice.
When he said George Michael sounded camp!
I miss these days 😢 my sister just passed and this was our favorite song.
Condolences to you.
As much as I dislike Bono, that line was delivery amazingly, even Simon smiled.
Can I ask why you dislike Bono?
@@PjXu98 Because he is a hypocrite who preaches one thing and is a tax dodger on the other.
Época maravilhosa ❤
✨💫Thank you for impressive memories !!
Would be amazing to see the We Are The World Story/Making here too
It was made and released last year.

He wasn't singing to save HIS life, he was singing to try and save OTHER PEOPLE'S lives ✌️
HE does sound like Bob Dylan when sing a Capella, yeah
Not feminine solo voice ? 😮

Both versions of 1984 and 1989 would have been a golden 1980s duet (if someone is interested to mix them). #justiceforbandaid2
