- Big Pharma says they need to charge astronomical prices to pay for research and development. Yet, the amount they spend on manipulating the market to enrich shareholders completely eclipses what's spent on R&D. Today, Rep. Katie Porter confronted a CEO about the industry's lies, with visuals.

@@korisx No, most of the western world is capitalistic, it’s just that American companies are not regulated therefore no one is quite certain what money they make goes where. The blue circle sure should be large, they are in business to make money, but the ratio between the other circles and it are totally off.

I absolutely LOVE this woman! She is exactly what our politicians SHOULD BE! Representing THE PEOPLE not these greedy, cold, crooks that have the system rigged in their favor. TRUTH!
Her approach is strangely familiar. There's no mistaking the point she's making. I'm sure that those executives, when they get together over drinks, whine: "what, does she think we're school kids?" Yes, you need some schooling, and we love the way she talks down to you.

I love you Katie Porter. I used to work in a pharmacy and it was just heartbreaking to see seniors who had to decide what medications they were going to be able to pick up and then I had to tell them that they didn’t have enough money and at the same time I had a pharmacy manager that was telling me that I was moving quickly enough.
I worked in pharmacy also and had similar experiences and also - these organizations ask us - pharmacy techs and pharmacists to lie to patients also and overcharge them. It makes me feel horrible
My medication is $547 for 60 pills with insurance 🤔 I had to get help from my grandparents just to afford a few months so I can actually find a place to live

1. How is it that these people earn so much from their companies but still don't bother to prep for Rep. Porter's line of questioning? I'd have a lot more respect if they just gave the answers that they know she already has.
2. When he answered about executive compensation did he think she asked about his specific compensation package and that's why his answer was so far off base?

Buying power is something americans long ago forfeited to advertising, but you can empower them to take it back and force producers to do business to higher standards.
