It is a rental. NYC has a legal system on some housing called "rent stabilization" that is a somewhat complicated rent control system. This woman inherited her apartment from her parents, she was allowed to take over her parents lease. What she has is extremely rare.

Love the apartment! I like more of a modern aesthetic but this is very well done. She isn't lucky, she is smart. I have seen people thumb their noses at apartments or homes offered to them. Especially if it's in NYC hold onto it. Had she said no to her parents she would be expressing her regret over a glass of wine.
hii! i love your videos! i think that including like a simple floor plan drawing of the space would also be super helpful to understand the layout of the place! :))
this apartment looks similar to ones in uptown manhattan ..like spanish harlem and buildings in the bronx on the concourse. im speaking from experience that apt look very similar to mine
If I moved out the price would have to stay the same and go to someone else. Rent stabilization is veryyyy different than rent control. But I’m not moving out ever 😂
When you been in the same apt for so many years, the super doesn’t really bother/cares what the tenants do, specially pre war building apartments - you can do a lot and doesn’t really matter because at the end of the day you’re not leaving anytime soon (if it’s rent stabilized), by the time you leave, they’re going to destroy everything to renovate anyway! I live in one with rent stabilized.
I love seeing these glorious aspirational apartments but I think I preferred the earlier episodes of the series where it was real people hustling to create a life in a small apartment with several roommates...it's definitely more true to life and more fun to learn from.

My parents and most family is from NY, but moved to California before I was born and I love seeing NY apartments. They are always cozy despite being in the middle of chaos. I love this apartment and the way she decorated it. It has a ton of personality.
Thank you! 😊
Blair Waldorf vibes. I live in a 400 sq ft studio for $1800 in San Diego. Very cool place though. I am curious, does your family own this place and you pay mortgage for $1300? Or this is just a lease?
It is a rental. NYC has a legal system on some housing called "rent stabilization" that is a somewhat complicated rent control system. This woman inherited her apartment from her parents, she was allowed to take over her parents lease. What she has is extremely rare.
Your hair is incredible
How can the only bathroom be near the butlers pantry? That bathroom was for the help, what happened to the original bathroom?
I love this! This is so so smart of her parents!
She wins, she wins all the game of nyc apartments. 1300?!? For that??? I live in Texas and you won’t get that much! It’s gorgeous.
I am unspeakably jealous! You did such a good job!
My jaw dropped when I saw the intro clips, what a beautiful apartment!
Omg this apartment is absolutely lovely 😮
thank you!
I love the Buzzed In series!
All of the places you've shown are gorgeous and they all have their unique style but this one is just GOALS 😍😍😍
Ahh thank you so much!!!
I saw another tour of her apartment and I’m having major deja vu
Omgg sameee
I'm paying $2,660 a month for a 500+sqft studio in Weehawken, NJ omg
it's so true what she said about not just walking into any mall and buying your entire aesthetic...i went into a Five Below for the first time ever today and after mostly thrifting for so long it was so disorienting?? idk consumerism is crazy
her place is gorgeous and idk what it is about her but she has such good energy, she j seems like such a genuine person
AWWW THANK YOU! ❤️
Yes clicked so fast making my NYC dreams come true, thanks for showing a more affordable example.
The amount of time I said “wow” watching this.
wow she decorated this apartment beautifully
Excellent video nice apartment
It’s so hard to believe this mansion of a apartment in NYC is ONLY $1300
These videos are so so interesting to watch and seeing how expensive life is in NY is just crazy, i think if you would rent this tipe of apartment in Latvia it would cost 500-800€
But this apartment looks huge!!!
for NYC this appartment is very cheap lol
That apartment in Dallas, Austin or Houston would all be over $4000 a month.
This apt must be like 10k-15k a month..
This is such a beautiful apartment! It really feels like a home and it's so unique to her.
Just wow! This apartment looks stunning 😍 Cozy, but still spacious and the design of it is just amazing 👏🏼 And it is rent-stabilized, like what?!?! 🙂🙃
Thank you!!!
I would cry every day haha
Hi Elena Tabernacle I curious about that that mean 2 bedroom rent stabilized? Rent sta mean vacancy apartment then move in ?
i’m obsessed with this space
Thank you!!
future home goals☁️🍃✨
Loved this one! The apartment was absolutely stunning!!
This is the style I go for in the appartment I moved in this week. Thank you.
How can I find a NYC apartment that is affordable? Do I contact a real estate agent?
hii! i love your videos! i think that including like a simple floor plan drawing of the space would also be super helpful to understand the layout of the place! :))
I have one on my instagram! :)
I just moved out and got an apartment after straight up BINGING your videos for 2 days straight hahaha so addictive!!
Again! How many different RUclips videos am I going to see this apartment in?
This is the most beautifully designed/decorated and curated home 😍 such a cool story! I followed Hattie instantly. Love love love. Thank you Elena! ❤️
Aww thank you!!!!!
this is truly incredible. I absolutely love the decor
Thank you!
this apartment looks similar to ones in uptown manhattan ..like spanish harlem and buildings in the bronx on the concourse. im speaking from experience that apt look very similar to mine
Yay!!! I love Buzzed In
How does rent control work? If she moved out would the rent go up for the next person? Also they let you renovate rentals?
If I moved out the price would have to stay the same and go to someone else. Rent stabilization is veryyyy different than rent control. But I’m not moving out ever 😂
How can you do construction in a rent stabilized apartment?
Loved this tour!!!
Beautiful big apartment amazing
