I always remember him giving updates on the parakeet in the netting in one of Cespedes' big 2015 games. I remember Yoenis and the bird had matching colors.
@@anthonycaro2582 Scully was great for national games, where you are not rooting for either team. But he could not make the home team calls nearly as thrilling as Cohen. Cohen was also ahead in terms of baseball and world knowledge. Finally, Scully was like Bob Murphy, a great artist in painting the picture of the game. Cohen, however, is a great announcer, as well as a great analyst who interacts brilliantly with his sidekicks in providing interesting and thought-provoking discussions.
TheBKKid718 mets have had so many sad moments in their history. As fans we can only pray they bring just one more ring to the franchise.i wanna watch all my favorite sports team win the big one just to feel what it’s like
yu uy You're trying to say that the call was bad? It was the most fitting way to express what had just happened, Bartolo Colon hit a home run. He called that better than anyone else would've.
M Detlef you’re stupid. His great home run call is a factor but he’s great at every part of his job. Pretty much everyone in baseball agrees he’s one of the best.
After years of guys like Rollins, Victorino and Howard prancing around and showboating after every big hit they had against the Mets, that Cabrera bat launch was just the perfect "UP YOURS" to the Phillies organization! LOVED IT!! Still do!!
Yankee fan but I admire Cohen. Gets the calls right and doesn't do self-serving schitck. If gets excited, there's a reason for it and is not a total homer.
The Endy Chavez double play catch is still by far the best play in MLB I have ever seen, and I am no youngster. I still have trouble believing my eyes on that one every time I see it. Too bad it also reminds me of Beltran watching the last two strikes go by with the bat on his shoulder to end that game. Gary Cohen is The New York Mets and certainly a HoF announcer.
I love Cohen. As a guy who bleeds METS blue and orange 🍊,listening to his enthusiastic calls are priceless, and music to my ears. His love for our METS is so so palpable, tangible, and real. He is a microcosm of our maniacal collective fan base. “AND THE BALL GAME IS OVER” Unquote. LGM!!!
Ill never forget watching that bartolo homer at a bar in florida and i was the only mets fan along with my grandpa and the whole entire bar lost their minds with us🎉😂❤ great times
God, i miss Big Sexy aka Bartolo! He always brought joy to all the fans & his teammates! That Homer by him says it all, even Gary getting high pitched from the call & his teammates going crazy for him!😂✌
You can tell when Gary is making the call from radio (up until the Endy catch in 2006) because of the details he is giving to the on-field activities (which TV viewers do not need to hear) Love Cohen's in-game calls, but really miss his radio days.
I thought one of his most fun calls was in 2005 at Shea when Marlon Anderson hit a game tying inside the park Home Run against the Angels. The enthusiasm & joy in his voice for that call was special.
I was sitting front row a few sections behind third. That catch by Chavez was UNREAL. The fans went nuts! As a kid (14), my brother took me to a game that eventually became known as the Harrelson/Rose game. Now that was NUUUTS! Fans throwing beer bottles at Clay Carroll, Mays coming out to calm the fans down... bedlam I LOVE THE METS!
Scully just has time and National Broadcasts on Cohen and I love Scully as an announcer. But Cohen and his crew make the Mets watchable even when they are the most brutal team on Earth.
Colon looking for his first hit of the yearHE DRIVES ONE! DEEP LEFT FIELD!! BACK GOES UPTON!! BACK NEAR THE WALL!! ITS OUTTA HERE!!!! BARTOLO HAS DONE IT!!! THE IMPOSSIBLE HAS HAPPENED!!!
It breaks my heart to see the Endy Chavez catch...because we all know what happened afterwards! Ten years later and the Mets have yet to recover from that disaster!
The one thing the Mets have always beaten the Yankees at has been the announcers, with Murphy, Nelson, McCarver, Thorne etc., but the king of them all is Cohen.
I somehow forgot that Endy Chavez’s catch was the sixth inning. I would’ve sworn that was much later in the game. The fact that we didn’t capitalize on the momentum of that play still breaks my heart.
Every time I see that Chavez catch I'm more amazed. I know it's not a sexy choice but I don't care, that's the greatest Major League Baseball catch I've ever seen.
When johan gets the last out of the no hitter you hear a scream. I'm convinced that's my dad at home in Glendale yelling so loud the mics at citi picked him up
In regards to Johan ..the mets were the shits that year. I was at an indy wrestling show that night..I had stopped really paying attention that season already, but for some reason when I saw Johan was pitching I said to myself I have a feeling... I checked back later during intermission of the show, he had a no-no through 6 and I just knew he would finish it. Funny how sometimes as a sports fan you get feelings about something right? Same feeling I had when the jets played the Patriots in the playoffs that year I woke up knowing..
damn man i wish you had the call where beltran hit a walkoff home run off jason isringhausen of the cardinals im pretty sure it was 06 mighta been 07 in a game that was 8-7 and delgado hit 2 home runs a grand slam and a solo (his 400th of his career i might add) and puljols of the cardinals hit a grand slam and a 3 run home run. And the call is just legendary you should edit that into this video and rerelease it lol such a missed moment!!! go check it out if you haven't seen it.
Since you guys loved this video so much, I have decided to make Gary Cohen Best Calls Part 2!! Suggestions will be appeciated.
Spectral Network "Let's watch him run"
FuckingYellow if you're talking about Bartolo which I assume you are, that was Kevin Burkhardt
Spectral Network Sheffields 500th long ball
I always remember him giving updates on the parakeet in the netting in one of Cespedes' big 2015 games. I remember Yoenis and the bird had matching colors.
Bartolo behind the back, deGrom's 1000th K on his final pitch of 2018, Cespedes and the rally-keet, anything Wilmer. Thanks!
You know it's a special moment when he does the double "outta here"
HarrisonC39 That's only when they're hitting, when it's a play in the field its "oh, wow!"
Joseph Lom Haha of course
Yup
Or when his voice cracks.
He ain't even give Wilmer a double outta here
That “IT HAS HAPPENED” after Johan Santana got the first no-hitter still gives me chills. Watching it live was an incredible experience as a Mets fan
Gary Cohen is easily one of the best sports announcers ever...
You think so? Been smoking crack long?
@@ter521fad hes great.. when i watch other teams announcer its so boring! theyre nowhere near as animated as gary!! hes amazin
Casey Chizek not don osrillo and mark grant
Mountain Man The Best Baseball Team Fuck There Fan Group
Yeah if you’re a mets fanboy I’d get it but besides that he’s trash
I got legit goosebumps hearing that legendary call. Bartolo will be remembered for his greatness and that shot
"the shot heard 'round the buffet"
"He went to the apex of his leap, And caught it in the webbing of his glove!" God damn what a freaking call
Gary Cohen turns these types of Great moments into unforgettable ones.
I can watch this over and over for hours. I love the Mets and Gary Cohen
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support
Best announcer in all sports, period.
All time goes to vin scully
Easily
Don Orsillio: bruh

@@lsmart Couldn't have said it better myself
Man watching the 2015 moments in 2017 is kind of depressing
TheBKKid718 tell me about it
TheBKKid718 there is still hope right now
Chris Spada no there isn't
once every decade we put together a magical season... that eventually ends in bitter disappointment. Such is the life of a Met fan

My favorite call is Bartolo's home run.
yu uy You're trying to say that the call was bad? It was the most fitting way to express what had just happened, Bartolo Colon hit a home run. He called that better than anyone else would've.
Ivette Martinez definitely
Too bad it was only a single "outta here"
Benny's was epic too
mine is the no hitter. But it's close.
say what u want about the mets, but u have to admit he’s one of the best, if not, THE best announcer in baseball rn
M Detlef you’re stupid. His great home run call is a factor but he’s great at every part of his job. Pretty much everyone in baseball agrees he’s one of the best.
I personally like Tom Hamilton more but he is pretty entertaining
Imagine if Colon hit that homerun at home.
BrendinoBoy citi field would have went nuts!!!
@@JavonWilliams29 citi field would still be rocking
Citi would have collapsed
But even the padre stadium was loud
At least the7line was there, that’s almost like a home game.
I knew from the moment I heard him on the radio back in the day that he's a METS FAN !!! 👍👍👍👍
After years of guys like Rollins, Victorino and Howard prancing around and showboating after every big hit they had against the Mets, that Cabrera bat launch was just the perfect "UP YOURS" to the Phillies organization! LOVED IT!! Still do!!
Lol and now the Mets suck again

Keith Hernandez laughing when bartolo got his Home run was funny as hell 😂
That was Ron Darling. Keith didn't do that game
2016 was a hell of a year to be a Met fan
and 2015
and ‘86
2015 was MAGICAL.
2015 DEFENITLY
Coming from a Phillies fan this guy is one of the best announcers I’ve ever listened to. No fan of any team can deny that
Im a Mets fan and i have to say that your mascot is the greatest mascot in any sport ever. Phillie fanatic is a great mascot
Yeah, with all the shit that has gone wrong with our franchise over the years, we are very blessed to have Cohen to listen to.
Best play by play man ever.
Gary is the best in the MLB
2nd best. But reallllllly good.
Nope. Best
Isaac Bernheimer Jon Millers in the HOF. Gary’s second best.
Let's go Mets
no one gonna talk about don orsillio?
I look forward to him whenever I’m lucky to get the SNY feed on a Mets game on MLB network

Mets fans are lucky to have Gary working for us!
It’s part of the reason we stay even after miserable seasons he’s always there to cheer us up

There's nothing like the way his voice cracked on the Bartolo "outta here". That was surreal.
It's no wonder Gary Cohen is one of the only bright lights of the New York Mets franchise.
I thought one of his most fun calls was in 2005 at Shea when Marlon Anderson hit a game tying inside the park Home Run against the Angels. The enthusiasm & joy in his voice for that call was special.
gary is the best, i wish he coulda called alonso’s 53rd homer
that other guy makes watching my mets feel like watching the mets and cohen makes me feel like i’m watching the best team in all of baseball

Idc if you think I’m saying this because I’m a mets fan, but you can’t deny that SNY is the best current broadcasting booth.
Hes the goat of baseball play-by-play announcers
the GOAT of announcers (sorry scully you're second)
Cory Van Treuren Stop.
nope scully is the best
coming from a mets fan
Mets fan here. No.
Just used to the old stuff. Scully is a legend but that ain't mean new legends can rise
Scully just has time and National Broadcasts on Cohen and I love Scully as an announcer. But Cohen and his crew make the Mets watchable even when they are the most brutal team on Earth.
Gary Cohen and Howie rose simply the best
His call for agbayani’s might be my favorite in this video
Colon looking for his first hit of the yearHE DRIVES ONE! DEEP LEFT FIELD!! BACK GOES UPTON!! BACK NEAR THE WALL!! ITS OUTTA HERE!!!! BARTOLO HAS DONE IT!!!
THE IMPOSSIBLE HAS HAPPENED!!!
The call of the Chavez catch was perfect.
The Bartolo behind the back flip. That was a good call
His calls are great, but don't forget about his encyclopedic knowledge of Mets history.
It breaks my heart to see the Endy Chavez catch...because we all know what happened afterwards! Ten years later and the Mets have yet to recover from that disaster!
Our NY Mets have amazing announcers!
You missed Carlos Beltran's walk-off homers in 2006
bigblue999 fuck Beltran

@@nyrgaming3091 Even worse...Pretty sure it was two pitches. And ruining Endy's spectacular HR robbing double play catch. Still hurts.

Gary has the best voice in sports!!
He is among the best and most recognizable
He's the best. And he does his homework. He knows everything baseball related and beyond

The best announcer ever go mets
The best!!!! I hate when the mets make the playoffs and we can't hear Gary anymore.
Even though I’m a big Yankee fan, Gary’s the best. Enough said
The day Gary Cohen retires is going to be a sad day for baseball.
The 2019 Carlos Gomez home run call was great
Missing Cliff Lloyd's home run against the angels in 2005, missing "Abreu looks up and we're going home"

HE struck him out and the ball game is over!

Although I still yearn for the Bob Murphy call: Mets win, Mets win!
The Mets broadcast booth is the best in the league by far
The G.O.A.T.
That’s why he’s the best play by play man in the game. No one comes close.
The beltran double "outta here" in '06 might be his best call but it's not in this video..
It's in his second one
Gary Cohen best in baseball and he’s a mets fan
He made an incredible call on the Baez play today! (8/31/21)
