- Let this serve as a warning about how quickly fees can add up on your E-ZPass account if you don’t pay tolls on time. A Long Island woman asked Better Get Baquero for help when she was told she owed more than $37,000. Lynda Baquero has the story.

Fact they will always take more in advance when ever you go over 50% they will take out 100% . If you trust Old $50 and you go over $25 the amount $50 and then they will make your threshold to $100 then $150.
I think it’s fine under certain circumstances. I get an email every time a transaction takes place on any of my accounts, whether it’s a deposit or a withdrawal, or automatic or manual. This way I can keep tabs on everything and monitor for suspicious or unexpected activity.
Except if she at least give them a bank she barely use

Wouldn't you want your family to get what you have left instead of a greedy corporation? I control what, when, and how much, whenever I pay any bill. It is better for her to let them charge a credit card instead... Don't let any company play directly in your bank account, trust me.

So. She didn't pay the tolls or fees for FIVE YEARS. She tried to cancel on 2/29/2024, in an effort to avoid responsibility. Didn't work.

@@dennissvitak5475 Don't see anybody refuting what occurred. There are constitutional protections against this. How can you justify your government charging over 3000%? Society has strictly prohibited individuals and corporations from such acts... but here you are defending your government.

A friend of mine lives in NYC but works in Long Island. Despite using the EZ-Pass tag on her car, which her account shows it is what they are seeing when she crosses, the MTA has been over charging her. When she finally looked into and spoke to her, they credited her what amounts to 3 years of crossing. I thought this was a story like that. It is crazy that the MTA can charge you so much in administrative fees when it is a computer doing all the work, then again that is the MTA over charging for work they don't do.
so she chose to ignore the bills and we are supposed to feel sorry for her? she knew she was going through tolls, she would have known she had to pay

In DC area the money goes to an Australian company. It is such robbery with fluctuating tolls up to like 28 bucks one way. Americans in our constitution are given free right to travel in this country and this actually takes that right away by congesting all lanes unless willing to pay extortion.

I got an online bill with recent tolls.and even though my pass is up to date and ice paid several bills then somehow found two tolls from August of last year to mix into the list of tolls. Why were those two tolls paid before? They just randomly send old tolls.

I went through the ezpass on the nj turnpike without knowing my ezpass wasnt functioning properly and had to pay 500 in tolls and fees. The toll was 4 dollars but 50 dollars ever time it did not scan. I was going to fight the ticket but they only allow 3 options on the ticket all of which were ridiculous. I was forced to pay it

Meanwhile you went through the toll a dozen more times. Years ago you could fight the ticket but now you only have 3 option of which they assign you. Guilty no matter what

I remember a while back one time I forgot to take my ez pass out of my car when I took it in for service at the Lexus dealership, so I took a picture of the loaner car license plate and went online to pay my fee. That plate had over $40,000 dollars owed for tolls. It took a lot of scrolling but I was able to locate and pay for the tolls I incurred on that loaner. I now see why the Lexus dealership started making us give a credit card to receive a loaner car, because people have abused the dealership loaner program’s kindness, smh.

What a bunch of crooks seriously think about this you owe $1,582 in unpaid tolls and you pay additional $7,862 as a settlement that’s four times over 4 times the total tolls .. for a total $9,200 that’s just wrong .
very childish view of this unfortunately. she was a criminal essentially, she was stealing. she didn't pay and accumulated a LARGE amount of tolls. seriously wtf, 1.5k?!?! The excess fees come from all of the tech and manpower it takes to track and actually charge her/pursue her to get the money. It's why corporations settle lawsuits most times, its cheaper than litigating and even winning. Only children look at the situation without thinking of consequences or all points of view...not surprised though.

I’m all for accountability like when you don’t pay your parking tickets you have to pay the boot free but to say $30,000 at first for $1.582 come on now . I got a ticket after the fact form the mta 30 days after for the VZB in rental car that was chargers toll by plate and I paid the toll on my ezpass what a pain in, but it was to fight it with the Rent-A-Car company that paid the penalty which my E-Z pass paid for and I got charged my credit card for it.

Those fees are usurious. And that's just the *settlement.* Originally it was 20 times!

I couldn’t get on my ezpass for years so I just sent in payment with a letter requesting a waive on the fee… finally got on and they took the toll but left the fees… I owe 1,968… they want 17k in fees… how tf does that make sense? Or even legal?
She would have been better off just getting another car in a different state. That registration hold only applies in New York state. $230 a month for the EZ pass mafia. That same money could have gone for payments on a nice used car registered in NJ or CT. She should have taken her car and sold it an then got a new one registered in another state.
This paying to use tolls that our tax dollars build is what we should be lobbying our senators and govenors to pay attention to get abolished instead of bombarded with distractions of trial and sports draft.

She cancelled her EZ Pass and she continued to skip the tolls but they found her license plate number. She did not bother to pay until her registration got denied.

I feel like the problem is people don't know a lot about tolls or how the system works. Violations can grow a lot if not checked on. The main thing to avoid violations is to make sure there's always money on the account, the plate is connected to the account, and the transponder is on the windshield

If a toll is set it should be set at that price. However if you link your checking or credit card to an ezpass for what is claimed as a discount they replenish as the computer sees fit. I dont believe this was as big of an ordeal when cash was offered as a payment but now that its all cameras and computers it seems to be getting out of hand.

i put a stolen tag on my car to go thru the tolls.. then put my real tag on when im on local streets..
