Thanks for a great tutorial. I think the foil gets crinkled when the back of the fog light corrodes and moisture gets in there past the o-ring of the bulb, that seems to be what happened with one of my fog lights whilst the other is fine. Were these OEM?
I would seriously reccomend you buy some LED-bulbs for your fog lights. CREE 80w ones from eBay are cheap, give you a clear white light and you don't have to worry about the bulb needing replacement so often :)
hmm yeah but installing LEDs in a fog light reflector designed for an incandescent halogen bulb is illegal in the UK and rest of Europe also I believe. It also dazzles other motorists whilst not actually illumating the road very well at all. 80w will likely overheat the fog light housings. Also cheap LEDs tend to blink and will piss off other motorists as well. If you wanted to do it legally, you would have to replace the fog lights for projectors which would look aftermarket unless you do some serious DIY on the existing housings. As for those of us who only use fog lights in the fog, when visibility is down to a couple of meters, a halogen bulb is going to last 20-30 years.
Fabian Dee you can actually get proper fog lights for 22 bucks 50w 50w led still run cooler than a incandescent that runs at 25w But it does suck they are illegal, i install them on my e38 528i 10x better My 2012 camaro has them as well, but they are factory
reflectors usually look like that when they have been fried using 100watt bulbs instead of 55. The plastic reflectors can't handle the heat from 100w bulbs. The reflector normally never crumples and distorts like that.
Reference Realoem.com for the part numbers: fill in information for your specific car and then search for "fog". I then recommend checking ECSTuning or TurnerMotorsport or BavarianAuto for price quotes.
Could you tell me how to get my engel eyes looking like that ? Recently bought 10w (per bulb) bulbs and had literally no difference , they dont seem to light up the whole ring ? Some info on this would be great thanks
These headlights happened to be in very, very good condition. So the fiberoptic in the headlight transmit light perfectly. No matter the bulbs, older ones, damaged ones, or hazed lights may not.
Does the other side work? Try swapping bulbs/lights with the other side. You might have a poor connection or an electrical problem if it's not the bulb or the light and they both work in the other side.
PERFECT timing! I was literally just doing a search on fog light replacement yesterday.
awesom that set of your new fog and angeleyes colors.

+Gediminas Leiciunas there are LED angel eyes that were added. We have a video on the channel about it
I mean low beam lights :)
how can u adjust the hight of the fog lights? there are to Low
There is a hole in the black plastic surround, if you stick a long screwdriver in there, there is an adjustment screw to raise and lower them.
***** I have to remove the bumper? or how to get there?
how can i change my brights?
Super easy. Unplug harness, turn counter clockwise and pull. Hold onto the base with the other hand so you don't break the adjusters.
***** is it easier than a xenon change?
Yes, much.
***** its a bit closely but easy;) now i have 9k brights
