Few things i don't like about the retro body is the lack of a waist swivel and the gap of the back of the neck hasbro should really fix the dumbell joint cause if its implemented properly its the best type of joint for a neck joint but overall still a solid fantastic figure

I thought the Retro body was too big for Spidey until I got him in hand. Peter isn't a 16 year old kid from Queens anymore, he's like 30. He's been Spider-Man for a while now and he's more filled out. Also the Sunfire body and the Retro body are exactly the same, they just modded the articulation for the Retro body, same sculpt and proportions though. I think I also prefer the disc hinge neck. It was more unsightly as an articulation point, but had as much if not more range and didn't leave you with the "floating head" look.

Yep! Think he's still too big for me but prefer the neck hinge for articulation. Thanks for watching!

I like the bulkier body for symbiote Spider-Man. In some comic images, and in a cartoon, symbiote Spider-Man seems more muscular than in the red suit. It can be argued that venom enhanced Peter's physique, as Peter also a lot more aggressive than in his standard suit. There is a Hot-Toys statue available of symbiote Spidey with rather muscular proportions, so it could just be the portrayal, and which portrayal fans are use to. Regular Spider-Man is also portrayed to be more bulky in some cartoons. To me, the bulkier body is not large enough for body-builder, but rather, as extremely toned gymnast. There are some guys with that type of body type that due gymnastics, as not every agile athlete is slender. Some are slender and lightly toned, while others have larger frames and significantly more definition. As I spidey gets older, his body naturally gets a bit wider too, so I consider the larger frames to be older, more experienced Spider-Man, while the slimmer frames represent late-teens to early 20's Spider-Man. Your opinion on the body is not poorly based, as it just your preference, and I have seen a lot people on social media favoring the slender-bodies, since they think the larger body makes Spider-Man look more like a brawler, than an agile, martial-artist, gymnast. Though, I consider Spidey to be more like an MMA fighter, which can be pretty bulky, and even martial-artists can be of larger-size. I think some people don't realize that you can have a slightly larger body-type and still be agile, as most people think gymnasts are all thin. In Marvel legends, figures with body-builder frames would be someone like Hercules. Mythic legions, a fantasy-figure line, has ridiculously muscular bodies, to the point that they suffer from big-guy syndrome, where they cannot even lower there arms enough due to how large the bicep is, as well the lateral, upper oblique area near the rib-cage. If you put a Spidey head on a 1.0 mythic legions body, that would provide a definite body-builder look for Spidey. It would look ridiculous, in my opinion. haha. With Spidey figures, I have not really collected many, since I always the body was too slim for me, the new symbiote Spidey finally catered to my preference. I missed the retro Spidey, unfortunately. I got the Mafex comic-style Spider-Man, since that was start towards a good body, and It is also the larger-eyed Spider-Man. Large-Eyed Spider-Man definitely looks better on a slimmer body, so that is where an exception was made , but again, it ties into portrayal, My first Spider-Man 2099 was the Mezco figure, because I liked 2099 in a more muscular body, and the new marvel-legends 2099 looked to skinny. While I like the Mezco 2099, I still think it needs more muscle definition, despite the base body being larger frame than other Mezco Spideys. If I was skilled enough to put the cloth-suit from the Mezco 2099, on a retro Spidey figure, I would definitely do it; however, I do not want to vandalize my Mezco 2099 like that, lol.

The disc hinge is both an eyesore and tends to split and break over time. I hate the disc hinge and prefer the double barbell, even if it does limit the neck articulation on some of the early figures they used it on.

The Mezco Spiderman is taller than the Legends. The suit might be a little too big! I would go on eBay (or maybe Etsy) and search for "1/12 black spiderman suit." Maybe someone made a soft goods suit. Or go on Aliexpress, and see if you can get a KO Mezco black spiderman (usually $25-30 bucks). Take that figure apart and use to your pleasure!
