      2. A pillar cover.. not done yet..
      3. Seatbelt locks up front.. Not done yet..

    Enjoy the food Randy 😂.
    You can put a center console in from a regular Explorer, they fit right in. You will need to do some wiring to hook up all the cigarette ports inside the console and the rear one, the front one can use the vehicles harness. There's a guy named 3dub200. He sells fillers for the rear climate panel as it'll no longer be needed. Keyless entry can be added. You need the dealership part GB5Z-15K601-C. Do not open the packaging until programming is complete. You can program it using FORScan, FDRS or IDS. The 48 digit TIC code is on the packaging. I recommend watching Reid the Manuals video on this as he covers it very well. Ford also has recalls for the A pillar trim on the windshield. That car also needs a good detail! Hope this helps with this project!

  • @JeffXram

    On these police Fords, they had fired add some oil drain plugs on the transfer case and torque converter that were not standard on the public version of these SUV's. The government mechanics understood very quickly on their relationship with these that the drivetrain fluids in these needed to be replaced every 5 to 10k to prevent failure. While the public versions of the same SUVs had "lifetime" fluid claims that would eventually lead to their failure. Change all those fluids whether you think it needs it, or not. Even if you received a version that a drain plug was not added by Ford.

    • @Joshtheweatherman
      @Joshtheweatherman 4 дня назад

      The 3.7 is just a big block 3.5, both are very reliable engines. The EcoBoost ones are junk, longevity wise. But the N/A’s will run forever with normal maintenance. The only thing I hate about these engines is the water pump location. It’s nice that it doesn’t run on a belt (which means the engine won’t overheat if the serpentine belt snaps), but it’s also a bad design since rubber seals go bad from expanding and shrinking, causing coolant to mix with engine oil. I know someone who owns a Ford Edge with basically the same engine, with almost 300k miles. Original water pump. They will last as long as the fluids are changed.

    I would buy it. Fix the little missing things, clean it up really good. Then drive it way it is with the dents. My question is will they give you a rebuilt tittle without fixing the dents? Every ford I have owned I have driven them close to 500,000 miles before I replace them.

    I recently purchased a 2017 ford explorer ex police vehicle (FPIU) as my new daily driver, it also has the 3.7 and it is AWD. I hope that it'll be a decent reliable car! I love the way it looks and I got it for a great price. I was previously driving a 08 crown vic police interceptor that I put around 75k miles on myself (sold it around 190k miles) and it was an amazing car! Tough as hell and reliable. Never gave me any issues other than the fuel pump going out on me. Sadly I dont expect the same bulletproof reliability on the explorer cause its hard to beat a vic but we shall see. The biggest flaw in the explorers is the HORRIBLE water pump design & placement.

    I recently won a 2014 Explorer FPIU for $3,500, with only 115k miles. I got it from a government auction, directly from the police department. They thought the alternator went bad, which is why it went for so cheap. It ended up just being a bad battery 😂 They had put a brand new Napa battery in it, but ended up being bad from the start. A cheap AutoZone battery completely fixed the issue! It puts out a good 14.6 volts now! It runs and drives perfectly, with no lights. I’ve already put 5k miles on it. What a steal! It will probably need a water pump soon, which I’ve already saved up enough money to fix it. It’s not leaking now, but I’m expecting it to leak soon. It’s honestly worth fixing, because where else are you going to find a low mileage modern Explorer for under $4k? The chances are very slim.

    I have two of these Ford Police Interceptor Utilities, which we drive daily... That roar could mean a low tire, or a bad wheel bearing... It's a 3.7 liter, with an eight speed automatic... Yes, I would have bought it... Most police vehicles are in working order, but will have low tires from sitting at the auction... Usually Sox months or more... It is real important at the milage to consider the water pump and timing set if it has not been done... It is also important to fully service it... Especially the PTO unit (transfer case)... It has four wheel independent suspension... You must use a full size spare tire, as the PTO is sensitive to mismatched tires!!! If you have any questions on this or the Sedan, you can contact me if you would like... These are very roadworthy, and somewhat affordable... (Ford ran one through Hells Revenge in Moab, Utah)...

    The front cloth seats are for operator comfort. The rear seat was "hard vinyl" in my day. The reason was, vomit, blood and other bodily fluids wiped right off. Then disinfectant was applied with zero damage to the seat. In the 80's both front and rear seats were "hard vinyl" hot in Summer cold in Winter and offered no firm no slip seating. Your car should have steel "stab plates" in the back of the front seats. In general, 40% of that mileage is idling the rest actual patrol use. That car has seen a lot of hard use, jumping curbs usually killed the axle bearings. GL

    To put into consideration how much inflation has gone up and how hard it is to buy a brand new car nowadays.
    I think that $2000 was extremely way to cheap for this car. Even for the mileage, it was too cheap.
    I daily drive a
    2006 Toyota Sienna.
    And if I'm driving 50 miles an hour and then all of a sudden, there's a curve in the road. The tire pressure light goes on just out of the blue. And to make it go away, I have to turn the car off and restart it, and the light goes away.
    I fill the tires up myself. And they are all at factory tire pressure. So maybe it's a bad sensor, but there's nothing wrong with tire pressure.
