“Il battito d’ali di una farfalla a Tokyo può avere effetti importanti sul tempo che farà a New York pochi giorni dopo”. Con questa metafora ripresa dal matematico e meteorologo Edward Lorenz, Mauro Ceruti ci racconta che cos’è la complessità e cosa significa vivere in un mondo dove tutto è interconnesso e dove ogni evento è insieme causa ed effetto.
Guerre, disastri ambientali, minacce nucleari, pandemie, cambiamento climatico: ogni crisi disegna altre crisi in un meccanismo circolare, come le due mani del famoso quadro di Escher.
Nel tempo della complessità, semplificare è impossibile, perché in un mondo complesso nessuno può salvarsi da solo. Ma forse la soluzione è più semplice di quello che pensiamo.

In a time of complexity, simplification is impossible, because in a complex world no one can save himself on his own. But perhaps, the solution is simpler than we think.
