I make music to keep me sane. I have epilepsy so the doctors took away my drivers license and told me "Take You Medicine And Stay Home So You Don't Hurt Yourself". And that's fun for 6 months and then you start going nuts. Over time I've found spots for busking in downtown freehold that make me some money during the summer. I also figured out how to get to my community college by public transportation (Getting around with public transportation in New Jersey is a nightmare) and I now have an AAS degree in audio production.

Well if no one has told you yet your the shit. You’ve accomplished more than I have and you have literal crutches. I don’t say that to sound mean. I mean no offense. I dropped out my first 3 months of audio production from being too distracted working three jobs and having the kids. The part that kills me is that as soon as it all fell apart I quit a couple jobs and laid down the law about visitation and made things work smoother. Why didn’t I just do that during school? ... smh. All apart of the journey man. I learn more from RUclips anyways

" I've made and put out x amount of beats, but I don't see any form of money from it. " Is what I'd say almost every day. I don't have a purpose. Hey Adam. At the beginning of the corona-virus pandemic I decided that I was going to take a step towards something that I have always had a dream to do. I have had numerous jobs from healthcare to fast food to auto sales to teaching in public schools, but nothing has given me the exact same excitement as this new endeavor. I finished my PhD in June 2019 and my dissertation was on hip-hop/rap music. I traveled to NYC to see the many historic sites of the genre, and I have listened to/followed many artists from giant superstars to underground musicians with little followers. But I decided at the beginning of March to start learning how to write beats and to put all my musical knowledge to the test. I have 2 advanced degrees in music composition and have studied music for over 20 years. I am almost ready to release my first few singles and I cannot thank you and a few other people enough for being the supportive voice that I have needed from time to time. I am eager to see what happens, and I am ready to invest my thoughts, sweat, tears, blood, and time into this new endeavor. I have no preconceived notions of my success, but I look forward to everything from the thumbs up and shares, to the hate and dislikes (that means you still heard it!). Thank you again, Adam.

15 Million youth live under the poverty threshold in the US alone. In 2013, a vision to reach, teach, & change this statistic went into writing. This vision was centered on the fact that music has a clear impact on poverty - where there is seemingly no control or understanding of how the world works outside of fantasy. How do I know? I was one of them... many are in group homes, no parents or family, in prison, will return to prison, abused, abuse, & the list goes on. I was there too.
15 Mill Music rose from the pages 2016, a time when a revamp of my 16 plus year music career / experience in music had to happen. The shift to edifying content & music messages. Empowering youth one at a time to influence their culture in which they live to adopt the same mindsets, to experience freedom rather than just talk about it. This same year, 15 Mill partnered & began work with Young Artist Society, where we are on the front lines in title one schools, teaching, mentoring, producing with youth from the 15 Million, on occasions, risking life itself to show an alternative way of life now.
The purpose of 15 Mill (& Young Artist Society) is to educate & empower youth to edify & own their own path to success, utilizing music as the platform that engages attention, vulnerability, real relationships, music connections, on going resources, music management, & opens up the influence for a heart change (my first album under 15 Mill - Change of Heart).
I’m sharing a lot of stories while my media producers are working on my photo shoot content & music video for promo of my next single The Duffelbag & following that will be the album, where I outline the realities of what I & these young people I know go through, to hopefully reach more of them & bring awareness to those ignorant or plain unaware of the horrors of our stories. In turn, flipping he switch to how I’ve used these horrors in my life to screw the system & make something for myself as a husband, home /business owner, musician, & father as of January 2019.
My strategy right now is an exposure to stories leading up to the Duffelbag projects official content, tons of A B testing to prep for how to effective market this song / album - but would you have suggestions to improve this strategy? Let me know what I’d have to do to get personalized marketing coaching or help in this department.

Love your dedication! Life experience, struggles, poverty are indeed the building blocks to inspire and help others. My 30 years on this earth felt like i came from another planet and music was something that always was around. Music told me stories about others who were struggling like i (we) did and it gave me hope to keep going. Years went by, and a friend introduced me into music production, 10 years later, it's what i live for. Now i can create things that can trigger/help others, like the tracks did to me back in the days. Music is understood by all nations without the limitation of words. Takes a lot of courage to go for your passion because many tell you're crazy, your dreams are not realistic. Blablabbla, go for it, be who you are and don't hold back! We're creators for a reason ;-)

I’ve been making music since I was 15 writing songs on my piano and guitar as a way to cope with my father’s bipolar disorder and being abandoned by my mom. It started as a way to keep myself from falling into a major depression. It helped me express myself and as I grew I begin to produce music, and even went to school and received a certificate in music and business technology at CSN. I have some singles out, and even had an opportunity to perform at the House of Blues but I was stunted when I was told that I looked like I didn’t know who I was on the stage. That I needed to find, in his own words, purpose. Truly, I was unsure how to respond because I’ve never performed on major stages before that day but as I’ve pursued my dreams I’ve learned that you need to have purpose and you need to know how you want to influence your followers. My biggest goal in music is to be different and to be kind, I get a lot of inspiration from artist like Logic, Ed Sheeran, and many others whom believe in making a change with love and kindness. I am also Transgendered and it’s something I’ve kept for many years to myself because I never enjoyed explaining that I wasn’t a boy by birth but that in my spirt and soul I’ve always been a boy. In many ways, I want to open up the world to my community, I want to open others minds and souls with my own experiences in life. I want to be an influencer to the new generation. I believe that I can make that change through my music, and that is my purpose. Thank you for your encouragement, and I put the bell on too just so I can get uploaded content the second it’s out. I hope you take time to read this and it inspires you as much as you inspire me! 💯🔥

This is everything I’ve been working on in the last year. Always have worked hard, but living with purpose and clearly defining EVERYTHING about why we make the artistic choices we make as a band and where we want to take things creatively and business-wise has really allowed us to push into new territory, mentally and creatively. The further we go down this rabbit hole of self actualization the more we recognize parallels/similarities of other successful people, in any field. It’s something that few will understand until you’ve truly dedicated your life to your to your craft and aligned your action with your goal and purpose. But, it seems like you get it and I’m glad there are people like you out there pushing this message. Good stuff.

You ACTUALLY tell it how it is. I enjoy listening to a realistic view on music and success. I’ve been making beats for about 2 years now and it’s a cutthroat industry. is wanting attention a good purpose? I want to make thousands of people feel good at once. i want to give them what they want. i want them to know that I was capable of making them feel so great and the sound and feeling of a crowd clapping after a performance feels amazing. I try to hide it, but im sure a few people can see how I really feel. Im never going to hide the excitement it gives me ever again. Music itself is amazing too, which is how i plan on giving people what they want. by being an amazing singer who really moves a crowd. like Freddie Mercury, but better

Adam I found your channel randomly while looking how to get more SoundCloud followers just now, and this video earned you another sub. Most other music motivation and growth type videos I end up watching a quarter of the way through, then leaving them without gaining anything or feeling any sort of change in myself. But I watched this one all the way through, and like a bunch of other people in the comments have said, I feel like you were talking directly to me, and that's something that many other people aren't very good at on RUclips. By far, this has been the most inspirational video that I have seen in awhile, and you gave me a lot to think about and more things to apply into my life and learn from. Really needed this! I’ve been playing seriously since 2010, so eight years. I’ve had two bands during these eight years and i seem to fall into the same hole where I completely stop making any sort of content and feel so uninspired. I feel completely lost of where we should go, where I should go. What I want to do and if this band is the right thing for me. We’ve been doing this pop/punk thing forever and we’re not very innovative with what we are doing(not that that’s necessary a band thing but you get what I mean) and the other guys just don’t seem to get it what they need to do to take the next step.
Now we’ve been taking quite a break where we last played together a month ago and I’ve been trying to fighting things out and wondering what to do. And now after seeing this video I realize that I’m walking around without a purpose and have always been the nail life. So things have definitely cleared up but it’s just finding MY purpose. Cause I know I’m here to do one thing and one thing only, and that is to play music. I can’t even imagine myself doing something else than playing music.
Don’t even know what I’m rambling about anymore so sorry and thanks!

Music has been that one constant, absolute thing in my life. A lot has changed and mixed around, and I want to make music so badly. I want to inspire people, I want to make people happy, I want to pour my heart into something, I want to put on a performance and feel good, I want to tell stories and have people enjoy them.
I used to want to be a writer (still do, it’s sitting in the passenger seat at the moment though) - after going to my first concert this year, a band I love a lot, I could feel the energy and I could see the passion poured into it. Everyone was just so happy, it was amazing, euphoric. That’s something I want (as a mildly unhappy individual, it was a natural high for me I suppose).
I’m prepared to overcome all my fears (that being stage-fright, I’m a 16 year old with low self esteem) and just go for it, whatever it takes, I don’t care if I get scared, I want to do this and I’m going to.

Great video! Just came across it and I'm glad I did. Ive been involved with music for almost 20 years. But for the last 4 years I haven't done anything. A lot of my equipment was stolen from my home studio. I had rebuilt that studio 2 times already. I lost all purpose and focus. A life without music felt like I was missing a piece to a puzzle. My girlfriend today doesn't even know me as a producer/song writer. But something happen this year where I was blessed with a new computer and pro tools which made me start back building a studio again. I always said that if I put one together again that I would give this business 200% effort. So now that I am back creating music regularly I walk with major purpose. I wake up everyday thinking about how I can take this music business to the next level. I move now with this music business on my mind. Your video said everything Ive been thinking. You have to have purpose. You have to have a goal. My goal is to own my own record label and Im going to do so regardless of how much I make from it. This is my passion!

Thank you Adam for the amazing, inspirational, and impactful video. This has allowed for a lot of needed and valuable introspective thought for me, and I appreciate that.
Commenting on your last point, I really like what you have to say about who we are today to be a better person tomorrow. I am a hurting yet growing individual who has faced a lot of traumas and hardships and I want to accept these circumstances and utilize them in ways that will foster and propel my music and art, and ultimately my career as a music creator forward.
The people closest to me who I want and feel the need to be supportive of my music are unfortunately not. For a wide gamut of reasons, whether it be for themselves or that they believe it’s in my best interest, they want me to give up on my musical and artistic endeavors to pursue my 4-year degree and to live a stable, safe, low-risk life in an occupation I am currently studying for. There’s a lot of doubt that I can’t make it with my music. But I know objectively that I am an extremely talented and creative musician with a lot of goals and passion, and I truly believe I can make a career and life out of it. That goes back to your point of people saying “it isn’t obtainable”; these people close to me want me to give up on it because the lifestyle of high-risk, high-reward, is unappealing to them. But I know that when I’m on my deathbed and I am evaluating my life, I would be ashamed and devastated if I took the easy route, got my B.A., worked a mediocre career but made decent money, but never took the risk to at least attempt to chase my dreams and make it with my music, something that truly fills me with joy and life-fulfilling purpose. Ultimately over the past few years in school I have evaluated that school isn’t for me, and it won’t take me to where I want to go. It has impacted a lot of my problems, but I understand the value of higher education and I am truly grateful for the time I spent in college and for how it has shaped me as an individual. I’m only in school to satisfy my parents, and I know that that is not enough and not the way it should be. I’ve tried to make school about me as much as possible, but my heart just isn’t in it. Something I struggle with in my life is the constant need to satisfy those around me, but I can’t do that if I want to pursue my music. I know that once I’m out of school and working, I won’t have time to do my music and to make a career out of it. I’m ok with the reality of working day jobs to make ends meet and to fuel my music career. A lot of people make it work and are satisfied with that lifestyle, even if they aren’t music-oriented, and that’s something I am fine with. These close people I have though, are unfortunately fearful of that.
Pursuing music, above all, is what I want to do with my life and what I want the world to see. I want my art and music to affect those who hear it in an impactful and genuine way. I want to make it big, I want to travel the world with it. Music is what keeps me going when the going gets tough, and that is something I can’t take lightly. I need to do this, and I need to do this for myself and myself only, as school and a career after college is something that is not for me but is lived through vicariously from other people. This all starts with, like you said, by walking with purpose. I know what I want, I just need to figure out the steps to get there, brainstorm, strategize, plan it out, and take the initiative to achieve goals to get me to where I want to be tomorrow.
Thank you for the time to read my story. Adam, you are truly a word crafter and a great motivator. Thank you for your videos. To all who are in a similar or the same boat as me, you can do this. It’s corny as hell but if you believe you can do it, you can. Thanks guys and good luck to all of you.

I completely agree with what you are saying! I have a job at a car dealership and work very closely with salesmen and managers but am still relatively young, 22 years old, it is very easy for adults to view me as a kid working in an adult world. When I go to work I try to walk with purpose and carry myself in a way that doesn’t show timidity. I like to think that just by doing that they see I am not like others walking with my head down or in my phone. Thanks for all the encouragement Adam!

Adam you hit my soul bro. At 20 years old it’s so hard to imagine that I can make something of myself, especially considering where I’m from. I’ve only recently realized I do music because I wanna help and guide younger people to live their best life and not just follow trends but this video just inspired me more to walk with purpose. Thank you for the wisdom 🙌🏽💯

Hey man, I'm so glad I found this. Music is something that has hit me in,the heart. Music was once my coping mechanism to deal with life. And it still is, but now its more of a tertiary one, and its something I want to share with others. I never knew my style, and I never knew what my purpose is, and admittedly, I still don't. But this helped out a bunch. Thank you man!

I was a big fan of this video, it really helped me to find some inspiration right now. I just finished my first year of university and I work a job that doesn't really pay me much. Every week, I learned to tell myself "Just one more week". I want to be the hammer, and my creations to be the nail. I want to drive home my passions, whether it's simply beats that I upload to soundcloud for the community aspect that you touched on, or fashion, photography, videography. Every now and then, I just need to hear a simple message. I can't think of a message simpler than "Walk with purpose". Thank you for the inspiration today

Adam, thank you so much. I already know that the goal of the Psyvera band is universal love and connection, but I lacked the concept of "live with purpose" and this whole 2 day conscious living technique is a great step towards becoming the person I want to be. You rock bro, keep up the great content, and keep producing wonderful music.

Great content and story telling, Adam. I bet a ton of people are glad to watch this video. Personally, I spent a lot of years doing music with no real purpose. I, too, wasted a lot of time and resources on things that didn't work, going through the motions, doing what I thought I had to do because of what others were telling me...which I think drove me to take several years off to pursue other endeavors. Something I wish I never did, but hey, I finished business school and actually learned a ton about things I was doing wrong. Now that I'm back at it, I'm really appreciating finding your videos. Very motivating and entertaining. Keep it up!

Hi, my name is Mar Gray and I would like to say thank you for this video. I was searching "how to make it in the music industry" and this video popped up. My career passions are to be a Singer, Actor, and Poet and my purpose is to express myself as authentically as possible with everything I share with the world. I want to be able to inspire other black gay creatives to go for their dreams no matter the circumstances and in that eventually inspire anyone who feels like their voice isn't always heard or appreciated. I will say though that this video made me think even deeper of who I want to be and why I want to do the things that I want to do. It's important for me to be as intentional as possible, but I admit that I have found myself at times just spewing out content and hoping things "stick to the walls". Once again thank you for this video it was extremely helpful and you gained a new subscriber in me. GOD BLESS!

Amazing message Adam! My purpose in the music industry is to develop a genre of music from Massachusetts/NE and help my all family, friends, co-workers and community through innovation. Through, my upcoming events, and developing iconic merchandise to spread a message of unity. Clique is what I call the genre, (electronic futuristic, boom bap/lo fi the contrast pop mixed with classical influences) is something I've worked over 15 years, in developing. I have a lot to learn still, but, I'm humbled every step of the way to reach new heights. Thank you for your insight Adam! I hope to met you one day and the other producers I've connected with online and in real life. *Salute*

I have been in the music business for over 30 years and it was just fun for me. I did shows but I am now wanting more. I want to record music and do shows and make money doing it. what I need to do now is walk with purpose. my purpose right now is to write the songs, get the track produced, sing the songs, then when ready go into the studio and record the songs. thank you for the reminder and I know this is an old vid of yours but sometimes we need to look back to be able to move forward.

Adam, this really helped me as I was just told that I needed steps and think ahead of making my brand and was really wondering where to go next and if I should stop making music altogether with the doubts but I discovered my early reason I forgot in the greed for music fame, helping others in the same stage as me, that when I do get the buzz of a fan base that they will be at where my start and I will inspire them just like my idols did for me. As for music helping me, it will keep me happy as I am doing something for my own dream but helping create others for young musicians looking for a start!

To be honest, finding my purpose was not easy. As an artist, I found out through experience that my purpose wasn’t crystal clear to me. Yes, I love making music, and yes I love performing. But what exactly is pushing me forward? I found out that music itself is my passion and my purpose is to not only share my passion with others but to have my passion support myself and my family in the future. To be able to wake up every morning knowing that I’m doing what I love for a living while having the opportunity to share it with the world is where I’m aiming to go. Much love man. Thank you for being real with all of us as always.

Music is my passion. I’ve been doing all sorts of music stuff ever since I was a little kid. 17 years old and I still enjoy it. Music is a stress reliever for me. It keeps me grounded, it keeps me from doing stuff I shouldn’t be doing. Some people are like “Dude you sit In Front of your computer all day, what the heck is wrong with you?” It made me think. Music is the thing for me. It’s what I want to do for a very long time. I want this as my career. Russ said “Supported my dreams until my dreams supported me” in one of his songs. I've found my purpose even before I started making music:
So when I was a kid, I hate taking music classes because they were boring. I like listening to music though, but I just don't think of it too much. I pretty much wasted my childhood on games 24/7. As I grew up, my taste for music began to shift towards EDM, and I slowly start to discover genres that I like to listen to. Then around 2017-2018, my sister showed me a music video, which has now become my favourite song to date. That's what kinda kick-started my curiosity for music production. It's not until early 2018 where I would read the comments section on some music videos that I like to watch, and I was blown away by how music can put a smile on people's faces. I kept on reading more comments from different music videos, and at that point, my curiosity for music production has reached its peak, and I decided to give myself a try at making music.
So my no.1 purpose for making music is never about the money. But rather, it's the reactions of people listening to my music. I want to be able to make someone's day happier through my music, and also make a career out of it.

This is my first time commenting on RUclips, The first time i felt the need to open up and share my views.I found the video to be helpful not only to share your experience but to help build others because we turn to do things without having a purpose like you said and ending up frustrated on the results which leads to giving up. I am an artist and a producer,i started my journey when i was about 14 Years(11 Years ago) ,like most others i was only interested in just hearing myself inside the speakers, all that changed when i saw my life get wasted ,making music without gaining anything from it, so i started asking for help from people who have tasted the music industry life but like most famous people, they would not respond or they will simple show no interest in assisting,...The anger grew and i found my self packing my music gear and just store it away but funny thing happens whenever i do that,...i would want to play my keyboard or write a song. That when i told myself that music is a part of me i wont stop making music even if i wanted to,so i did my research on the steps needed e.g copyright, all there is to get a song playlisted on radios etc.
Having grown now with my artists that i produce for i started looking at music in another perspective not only focusing on me, i registered a record label which i am certain it will succeed,Though i still need help growing it (Finance). Seeing how my family struggles everyday to survive ,we would sleep without dinner due to lack of money having a family of 14 members in a two room house (9 Kids who are from 0-13 years of age).I don't want anybody to feel sorry it something most of us go through and we hide it with our smiles.Looking at my situation, i drafted a plan which will not only help me but it will help lifting up my background into a better state , helping desperate artists who have potential and who are productive be heard because i now have a *purpose of unpacking my music gear and start working again.
Thank you for the video i hope others will start recognizing the struggles and effort other people put;Dedication,Patience.
I now have found the real purpose of making music.

Hey all, one thing that’s helped me immensely w/ my music and art is learning what I call, “the mechanics of goal setting and achievement.” I have a steady habit of making to-do lists and for a long time those goals on the list weren’t getting crossed off. When I learned the simple fact that EVERY GOAL CAN BE BROKEN DOWN INTO SMALLER GOALS. For me this may look like - my goal is to make a 3 section drum part for a song. First step I write down is literally eat breakfast, then, sit down at computer, select drum instrumentation in sequencer, look up tutorial for how to use a filter I’m not aware of that I know I want to use in section 2, and so on... its when I systematically broke down my goals into smaller steps is when I found I could effectively execute my goals, my purpose. Thanks all!

Fantastic video!! This really lit a fire under my ass to continue chasing my passion. In the band that I started, I came up with the mission statement of the three P’s: Performance, Playability, and Passion.
We can use studio Magic to a point, to make an overly complex arrangement, but we have to reproduce it live and with confidence. We are not only musicians, we are also entertainers. Make it look easy and give people that rush of adrenaline that the family of the heavy metal community gives. Finally, do it because you love it. Do it for the love of creativity and making something from nothing.

In my 20s I ended up having 3 heart surgeries and dying from a heart attack. While I don’t desire to tour playing jazz anymore I really want to make a living selling beats. That’s my passion my purpose is to leave a musical legacy and take care of my family with music. My aesthetics change but my purpose doesn’t.

Ive had to deal with a unsupportive home for my 19 years of living. Every musically involved move ive made have always been by my two feet and going down this road alone is exhausting and depressing. The only thing thats saved me is creating music. In growing up ive always wanted someone to help support me and love music as much as me. My purpose is to stretch my love and friendship through my music and help spark others by making them feel less alone. I want to give everyone what i never had , someone to go to listen to that knows what isolation, exclusion, and rejection feels so that i know that theres hope on the other side of the torment. I want everyone who listens to my music to feel the words along with my sound.

Rap is a way for me get out of my comfort zone and to speak for myself. Before doing this, I wasn’t like this at all. And I still am. I’m a tall, shy and quiet person who keeps to themselves and whenever I experience something happen, I don’t say or make action in the moment. I don’t deal with conflict that easily, I would keep it to myself. And that is why I rap, so I can take whatever’s on my chest and rap it on a mic.
And that’s who I’m doing it for. I’m doing it for those who can’t stand or speak up for themselves, whether because they’re an introvert, quiet and shy. I’m doing it for those who are afraid to come out of their comfort zone. I’m doing it for those who are afraid. And it’s okay to be afraid, and I want to show that through my music, whether it’s talking about it directly or expressing myself through my anxiety knowing that it’s alright to do that.

Adam i want to say first that this video was extremely helpful to me. I am someone who felt they walked with purpose. This video however has given me a much needed change of perspective. Even though I've dedicated my life to music because i love it and it brings me joy, I've realized after watching your video that I've been lacking true direction. I haven't answered for myself the much needed questions about what it is i really want to accomplish. Now that i know the questions, it is only a matter of time before i have the answers. So i want to thank you, for awakening something in me. What you said about having a thick book written about yourself, really resonated me. I will not be satisfied with a 5 page life. This video has been truly inspiring so thank you again for sharing your wisdom.
