- We dream of one day being able to do music as a career and be successful doing what we love to do. We have a vision and deep down we know what we're capable of, but when the people we care most about don't support our dreams it sucks. I know what it feels like to be told that you're wasting your time by someone you look up to. Feeling discouraged and filling your head with doubt is the fastest way to watch your dreams go down the drain. So what can you do to change their mind and make them believe in you? Well you might not be ready to hear the answer to that question...

Best of luck!! I sincerely believe that every artist deserves for their dreams to come true. Many of us here would be genuinely happy for you.
@@avs1109 how is anyone here being a simp lol
You have to believe in yourself as much as you believe in your favorite artist...that's serious. Never thought about that. Great post!
Thank you! So many people have deep rooted passions for people and interested, but if that passion can extend to self that would open up so many more doors for a lot of talented individuals.
I agree Lisa. Another way to look at is this: Visualize clearly, precisely, and frequently about your dreams and it will manifest itself into reality.
Lisa Clark what if overall i don’t have a favourite artist?
@@murkzyt6649 then become your own artist you will only favor yourself and you will not try to be like another artist to slow you down or make the public dislike you. YEAH
I recently decided as a 27 year old to drop everything and give it my all at music. Here is why. The past few years I have let myself become warped by societal and familial expectations. I put writing and playing shows on the back burner because of this. Denying myself all this time has ultimately come to a head just this year. I finished my prerequisites and nearly applied to nursing school finally but didn’t, I realized I needed to leave my marriage and got divorced, and I packed up and moved back to my hometown. I’ve spent the past 5 months trying SO hard to find a new path, all the while neglecting music, the one thing I love. I imagined being 65 and what I would have wanted in my memory. And all I could think about is singing my songs to people who want to hear them. I have NOTHING to lose by choosing music and I would rather fail super hard than never try super hard. Nursing school can wait.
Your video has bolstered my resolve man.
Like I’m a woman and going for this too at 25! I’m really scared! Recently I feel music is calling me and I want to dive into it but I’ve no idea how the hell to start!!!
@@MB-xv7er Networking is gonna be your best friend! I just started making music a couple months ago and I don’t have any songs out nor have I ever performed but I’ve been offered multiple gigs just because I know some people who make music and I didn’t even know I did. When I first started I had no clue where to start so I asked everyone on my Snapchat story “I’m trying to get into music. Do any of you produce?” And this one guy that I met while visiting my friend’s school back in like 5th grade (I’m 21 now) hit me up and from knowing just him I’ve found so many opportunities. Knowing the right people can skyrocket your career

@@MB-xv7er i am 24 and my whole life has changed. Left the things I'd been doing, left the life, people, circle everything and i am nurturing the inner child in me who wants to perform and sing at the top of his lungs, bc that's whats makes him whole.
I have been practicing in my aunt's empty apartment and trying to mix music and vocals. Idk how it'll all turn out but i believe in the vision i see in my mind's eye. You're not alone in this. I hope your dreams come true and you get all that you desire :)
I am still so young, with a massive music dream. I know nothing yet about making music, but I am willing to push myself to the limits to learn and succeed. This video truly inspired me!
You can do it!
A good start is to find others with your same goal and become acquainted, pooling your talents and abilities. Having others to encourage and be encouraged by is important. Check out local music stores and make inquiries. Good luck.

GOOD JOB MAN!
"If you dont believe, you'll never succeed." 💚☯️🕉
Very true
I hate these lines. They put you even more down and put you more under pressure. There are good reasons why people don’t believe in themselves sometimes. It’s not that easy to overcome past struggles and to move on. Think about that before saying these very cheap and cheesy lines.
Thunder Clash Gaming Not only that sometimes there is a medical condition that puts a mental bar in front of everything you do
It's heartbreaking to me when I see people say things like: "I always wanted to be a singer since I was young... and my parents laughed at that dream... so now I work at Wendy's full-time."
Even though I'm someone who's speaking out against that... I struggle with it myself. I'm at a fork in the road right now... and I hope to take the right turn. And I really want to see everyone here succeed... I want to hear your beautiful music.
Please don't give up.
Its not beautiful but check out a band called NAVRIN.
Luke Chiacco thst happened to me. I told my dad at age 7 that I wanted to sing. I remember like it was yesterday he said” honey that’s too hard” and changed the subject. 33 years later and 5 careers later.. I’m now doing what I was supposed to do. Sing. I’m not letting up. My goal is to have my single finished by the end of Summer. And my ultimate goal is to sing at funerals.
In that case, I'mma just self promote real quickly. I'm a very obviously small artist and I just released a new song on both my RUclips and Soundcloud (it being on this channel that I'm commenting with). The song is called Forever and I know the song is very simple but it is something I'm extremely proud in so I want the song to be the most viewed (and most liked hopefully) song I've released so far

Where u based out of. I'd love 2 work with u

Maybe we can work together
That's the spirit
1) I have to believe in myself as much as I believe in my favorite artists. Because if I don't think I'm good, how do I expect from other people to think I'm good?
2) I need to do things. I cannot wait for a sign. If I won't push myself, I won't get pushed
3) My self-believing should come from myself. And I shouldn't be sad because someone said some shit about me. I cannot be afraid to start. If I'll be like "oh they said I'm bad so I should quit" I'll Never achieve my dream of being known for my singing-songwriting.
I can't be afraid to start. I can't be afraid of what people say.
4) I don't ask the world for their opinion. I come and do what I love and that's it.
None of my favorite artists is asking what I think of their stuff
5) I don't ask for any opinion / permission. I do what I do because I know I'm capable of and I want to show it.
6) I have to love myself as much as I love my favorite artists. Because if I don't love myself. How am I expecting for people to love me?
“What separates you from your favorite artist?” money, a label, a fan base of any size even if it’s 10 people, the right instruments, etc.
I’m 17 and I’ve always told my family and friends that I’ve wanted to be a professional musician and no one ever believed in me. Thanks for giving me inspiration and hope!

Your next coffee is on me Adam. I really needed this video today, thanks dude.
Thank you!
since i was younger, i knew i was meant to do something awesome with my life. i've always been a creative person but i never wanted to chase fame. i always would sing and people would tell me that im not good enough, but it never silenced me. I knew that i would need practice to challenge my vocal abilities and i always taught myself how to grow vocally. its gotten to the point now that i can hit amazing highs and amazing lows without even thinking twice about it. I always wanted to do music, im an artist (visual arts) and have always done it my whole life as well, but i never find it as enjoyable as expressing myself vocally. One day, recently, my boyfriend and i were singing and playing around and he had me practice a song "sandcastles" by beyonce (one of my favorite songs ever) and as i was singing the song it slipped out and he called me a natural. that was the first time in my whole life - im 27 this month - that i have ever felt confident in my singing abilities, to the point that i want to possibly make a career out of it. I am currently learning how to make music and create compositions that are unique to my message. mark this day as the beginning of me finally living out my dreams. it's the beginning of a new age for L!
I believe in myself. We only have one life. How could you not chase your dreams?? Thanks for the awesome video dude. Just subbed:)
Do you do music x
I 100% agree with what you said⚡️
That’s one of my fear
You couldn't be anymore right, took the words out of my mouth. Good luck with your dreams!
I literally been dreaming to be a famous singer but I don't know how
Ever since i was a little girl, i always sang. I knew i wanted to sing my heart out to the world and help change it for the better. I dont know who will read this but its my purest truth.
I wasted so much time but im ready to work hard now, i felt like sometimes i needed to wait for the right time but it never came, time was all around me and in my doubts and negativity i just couldnt open my mouth to let out my voice. I wanted to quit, i tried to forget about this dream i had... but i know i cant. This is what my soul wants and thank you for this video. Best of Luck. God bless💙

Natasha Vallerani keep on producing hun
Natasha Vallerani I’m dealing with this same situation I now feel like I have to push it so this dream can become reality and put all the negativity away
I'm in the same situation I have tried to forget about having a music career because I thought it was unrealistic and no one will like me anyway so what's the point? But since watching Adam it's been a huge confidence boost and like you, I've always wanted to sing but have been too afraid of putting myself out there. what he said it so true: what is the difference between you and your favourite artist? Such an eye opener and Good Luck!!! I hope it all works out for you!!
me too. i feel ya. lets do it.
I'm 24 and stuck in a job that I don't like and I can't resign yet due to pandemic. I've always wanted a music career since I was in my teens but people kept on telling me that it's not a stable career, and I'll just waste my time and energy. Thank you for inspiring me once again to try and shoot my shot. :')
I've always wanted to write my own songs, produce it, sing it, etc. But nobody is supportive, not my family, friends. So this video helped a lot. Thank you.
All the the best
I’m a 16yr old girl and I love drums and singing nobody believes in me either we’re in this together we’re both gonna make it
I'm 16 now, I've written so many songs and worked so hard all of my life singing in choirs and performing on stage with over 1000 people and since my voice dropped i thought i lost my dream everything i wanted to be. But i built myself up wrote songs learnt guitar and many people has congratulated me over the years. But now that i want to take my dream to the next level. People keep doubting me again and again even my school's guidance counselor because i was suicidal for a year. Music helpes me cope and was there for me when my even my parents and so called friends couldn't. I'm the only one who believes in me. It's hard! But i won't give up now.
Amd you shouldn't either! Stop dreaming and do it!
Your life just started :) Keep going!

Continue with it man. I believe in you. Im finna self promote but I have faith in my music as well, i’d appreciate any reviews. Good luck to everyone chasing this dream.
its a lonely road but it will be worth it
when ppl talk down on your dreams they're projecting their own limitations in my opinion. People who are secure about themselves will support others (friends/family and others)
The key is to just keep releasing and grow a fanbase. Stay consistent and create music on your downtime!
Whenever I'm feeling down, I come back to these videos and they keep making me push myself. I'm so thankful for your words and how you push us to drive ourselves. ❤️
I always say that those who discourage you are the ones that KNOW you can make it otherwise ... why would they make a fuss?
That's a nice theory but if the person is really close , And knows you just as you know yourself... Maybe they are correct ! Sometimes people get delusional about their dreams
Probably because they are worrying about your future...
Im worried about being bullied if i start making music
@@svdsvtvn2767 how is this fear even possible
Those people who try to discourage you from the beginning fuck them
I can't believe how many people out there underestimate positivity and optimism and why they do it. I try my best not to get influenced by negative people around me, instead make them think positively. Optimism directly affects self confidence, and self confidence is the key to the game.
Absolutely!
Me:I love singing, I wanna write songs that will heal somebody 😍
Family, friends:She thinks she will make, you're terrible, you have no chance, leave singing for the singers
Me:Mark my words I will be known for my singing 🥺💔
You have shed such a miraculous new light on the capabilities any single person with strong passions possesses internally. Adam, you‘ve sparked something internally I had been wondering if anyone else pondered the existence of, and I am more thankful than you could ever know. This reminder, collectively between all of the struggling, exhausted dreamers out there, has put the spring into the step of so many people. These are career driving words of the highest degree of authenticity. Thank you fervently for this uplifting message! 💯

I am a 16 year old girl who has always dreamed of becoming a singer one day. I had performances at schools but nothing more happened than people telling me I have a good voice. But even singing in front of a few people made me feel like I can conquer the world. I've also been told that I'm a really good writer and considering I've even written a novel, I do believe it. I have like 30 songs in my notes that I'd also like to call hidden gems cause I wrote them back in the time I used to deal with bullying and self-confidence. And I know there are a lot of people like me that just want to SHARE. Share through music. Music has been there for me when no one were, especially with those late nights when I had doubts that I might not make it. So one day I told myself to wait for a sign. I really wanted 2020 to be my year. And I think this sign came yesterday, I got an idea in the middle of the night and I don't know if it's right but I'm watching THIS VIDEO right now, aren't I? Thank you for this, I've never felt more inspirational. And to all the others that are like me out there: I DEEPLY hope we all make it. You don't know me, but maybe you will some day. I have never believed in myself more after last night having a conversation about art with my #1 idol and favorite artist of all time. The whole time he was talking about his struggles and success, I can literally see myself in him. We’re almost exactly the same person. The humbleness this man had, despite essentially taking over the scene in very few years really showed how passionate he is about his craft.
It wasn’t until recently that believe in myself more than ever before. I will make it one day. If not I’m better off dead.
Who's the artist??
I appreciate the “rambling” shows you really have passion for, care about, and mean what you say.

Such a great video. It's so inspiring to see all the amazing people in the comments posting that they're gonna step out and make it happen! It's also so amazing to see everyone spreading encouragement! Videos like this definitely help remind our band to keep focused on whats important!
I know that the universe sent this video to me. I’m literally in this energy as I speak. I have no support and no lie it’s extremely hard when u have such a big vision with so little means to be able to do it. I’ve learned not to care what people think about my sound but at the same time I’ve been such a hermit. That made it tough to show my work. So I tend to loose self confidence. And when u don’t have friends or family, in most cases I’m the only motivation I have. When it’s time to perform I get shy, unless I’m under a lot of pressure or pissed off. I almost gave up today!! But I didn’t!! And when I finally went to sit at RUclips to see how I can find as much self help as possible this was the first video that showed up. I appreciate the passion and anger that u showed because most try to take that irritation out but it is well needed. It’s the same irritation that I was and still kind of feeling. It’s nice to be able to relate on that level. That’s when the drive kicked back in. Even though you don’t have a clue who I am. Thank u so much for the motivation that I took personal from ur words on this video. There is no telling what blessing I would of missed if I had given completely up. It’s getting harder because I’m in the rabbit hole I guess. No turning back. Thanks again

Not that I know better than anyone else, but in my opinion the solution to this problem and to just pick the interest you think is your favorite and master and dedicate yourself to it and follow the principles in this video. You have your whole life to master all of the things you want but you have to master one at a time so start with your favorite! You can always do things as hobbies, and focus on mastering one thing at a time! - Be well :)
why not just do everything you like? try everything out, eventually you'll find the ones you are best at/most passionate about. D.O.T.S = Don't Over Think Shit
Much needed! As someone learning everything from the ground up (singing, songwriting, producing, music theory, mixing and mastering) this was super inspiring - especially about not seeking validation and believing in yourself.
Cheers
Good luck on your journey! Please let me know if you need help learning anything.
There’s nothing I can say besides thank you. I needed to hear this
To all the young aspiring musicians taking over this comment section: I'm sixteen and still cry myself to sleep every time I hear another child prodigy. Start early and you too can make experienced musicians cry
Never been this relatable before man
Never quit we will both be famous
@@cyborgcyclone hey! Bro how do I get to explore into music and making my career
a greater talent does not invalidate a lesser talent. if you take other ppl’s talent personally you will not last! use it as motivation to get to the practice room. otherwise youll be like my coworkers-old bitter and talentless so all they know how to do is be a hater on other musicians.

This has been therapeutic to my entire being and recent feelings. Thanks dude.
Thank you, this is something I really needed to hear. I downloaded the video and will watch it every time I feel any discouragement
Hi! I want to thank you for this video, for being so honest. I have a passion about music, but I've also had a lot of insecurities and excuses. I have a dream and that dream is to learn how to make my own music and make great music, even if no one cared about it. I don't know why but the other arts like painting, drawing, writing, dancing have always seemed more available and easy to start with, to me at least. With music it's very complicated already at the start, with theory and the correct techniques to play an instrument or how to sing right, it's really a steep hill. There seems to be a lot of judgement and musicians seem to group in their own tight circles, allowing no one in. At least with classical music it's like this. If you haven't been to a music school, then it can be really discouraging. It's truly a lonely journey and you're confused all the time. You need to invest a lot of money and time. I'm still young and now seems to be the time to decide what I want to make with my passion. I want to do something about what my heart's been telling me for all those years, before the time runs out... If there's anyone out there reading this and knows what I'm talking about, then don't feel lonely - we're really in the same boat. Don't listen to the voice in your head that tells you that you can't do it. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, start small but don't stop. That's all that matters.
Or you could just be a rapper like myself lol
Thanks man you just made my day
I felt this 100%. I’ve wanted to be a singer since I was a kid. I’m in my early 20’s jumping from one major to the next, one job to the next and now I’m in financing of all things. I’m good at so many things, but none of them make me feel how I do when I sing. At first it was “I’ll make money and chase my dream on the side...soon.”
Now I fear “soon” will never come. It’s really discouraging when you only ever had the dream and years of self-taught practice but no real progress. I wasn’t in the choir, i wasn’t a band geek, and I’ve never performed at a talent show. I’ve only sung at a small biker bar and they said I was great. Lol But that’s it. And the older I get the more I feel like I don’t deserve my dream, and it’s just a delusion. Yet singing and songwriting are the only thing I’ve ever done that I actually know with certainty I’m meant to be doing. They are my entire identity. I just have no idea where to start.
Wow... It lifted my spirit up... Best part I can relate to you is the need to invest lot of time and money. For me I'm ready to invest 100% of my time but unfortunately don't have money to invest.
@Emix Bro I just listened to your music you're pretty talented don't stop!!
I have two favorite artists, Freddie Mercury and Elton John
... And Billy joel
Take a little from all them vocally and add a new writing style
one of the most inspirational videos ive found. thank you for making these. self doubt is a constant struggle for me and this changes that drasticly
I'm from Jamaica bro and a music producer and in a wheelchair so I needed this to make me see things differently. Thanks man, thanks for giving me perspective, thanks for helping me believe in myself and what I do.
“Believe in yourself as much as you believe in your favorite rapper” realest shit ever💯
I am 23 and I am planning to Persue a Gospel Music Career, I am broke right now to afford a lot of things but I know I will make it in Jesus Name.Much Love Adam
This video sparked a fire in me. I grew up constantly believing I couldn't do it and really making and telling myself excuses of why I can't achieve my dreams. I'm now 29, but I feel like I don't know what I want to do with myself more and more. What do I live for? More and more, I'm being drawn towards music. In the past few months, I'm doing a lot more singing than I have in years since college. I wanna get out and sing in front of people. We can't hold back our greatest passions. Believe me, it's tough to understand your dreams and passions at a young age, and the knowledge and wisdom you gain over the years will shed light onto what works and what doesn't, what is feasible and what is logical or rational. At least now I'm aware of what's feasible and can take care of myself and my finances. While what we do is art, there is an economic side to it. It's good to learn the economic and business side too. However, not taking action and just analyzing how to get there or talking or dreaming about it and not taking the first step or few steps is just going around in circles and beating around the bush. You're not getting anywhere until you start making moves. I now realize that most people on the internet do the normal daily bs and often don't aspire to be much else. Social media can certainly be a trap when we compare ourselves to others. All we're doing is keeping us all down in mediocrity.
I want to believe. I want to do it. Maybe not all for nothing. I value the other skills I've acquired at this point and help me sustain a living and do what I want. I'm going to need to find a balance. But perhaps, while doing all the groundwork, it'd be good to hold onto a sustainable day job. At least with what I do, I work remotely. But I'm certainly going to start moving in that direction! Time to learn guitar, sharpen my voice and vocal skills, learn to read and write music (I know some of this from music theory and choir singing), and just get out there and start making moves and having fun with it! I'm going to take my time with it. Idk what making the first few songs will be like lol.
Thanks for your video! This was really good. And you hit the nail on the head.
Your awsome!!!! Thank you so much ! I loved your venting … this was so helpful 🙏🙏🙏 I feel bewildered by the industry but listening to you fed my determination
being asian is hard when u want to have a career in the arts/music industry..
have some goddamn faith! like Steve Aoki!
It seems like you’re trying to find an excuse. I bet if you weren’t Asian, you would believe something else about you makes it hard to create an artistic career.

Amazingly said & well stated. Robbed the words as well as many relatable situations from my own Experiences in the music making industry 🗣💯👍👍
Another Adam masterpiece! First and foremost you must do music for the love of it and those who smile when they hear it!
I love Ari with all my heart she’s my idol. I always wanted to sing my mom thought it’s only a phase but I still want to be one. I can also imagine begin a actor or a dancer. Everytime I sing, dance or act I’m more happy. I’m in my own my world.💜🥺my bsf said I have talent I just need some more training she’s the only one who believes in me💜💜
Defently Ariana You should go into musical theatre 🎭. Since you’re quite young, I recommend going to conservatory.
i love her too

Omg same l love singing, acting and dancing they are my dreams.l hope that one day l will make one of them real.My parents don't believe in me but again l will not give up because if you don't try then that thing that you want will not come true. This video really motivated me.My favourite singers are Rihanna,Selena Gomez etc💜♥

My dream is to have my own band like Twenty Øne Piløts and get signed to either Eyeball Records or Fulled by Ramen. Nearly every says I won’t make it but I can and I will 😊 💖
I also wanna be in band🙄
You can do it!!
Oh same, I look at bands like Set It Off and I want what they have
Same. I play bass and piano and want to start a band but none of my friends are interested in playing instruments even though they say they want to be a famous musician
We should meet !!! Though am in Kenya
okay, im like 3 minutes in and in know this is an old video but im already tearing up, this is the most supportive words i've heard, encouraging my dream.
the biggest wake up call I ever needed and I cannot thank you enough, I'm ready.
I would love to sing but I have the worst stage fright because as I grew up it was thrown down my throat how I either wasn't good enough or they judged me in other ways. I have self doubt but I try not to let it get to me. Hopefully I can actually get the courage to upload someday! Thank for the motivation!
That's why I listen to God. Not people. ;)

SO TRUE! I want more people to see this because everyone is judging , but in reality, what you think is dope= just dope
I've always had this oddly straightforward belief in myself. It's never been "if" I become famous, it's always been "when". Now more than ever I feel inspired to pursue a career in singing, and I'll do whatever I'm able to make that happen.
Yea me too !
Being famous shouldnt be the goal…
