- Samsung put a big battery into the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. And then they promised 80 hours of battery life. I changed some settings to see if I can squeeze out some battery life. Did it do any good. Let’s find out as I go out and do a real world battery test of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

I did some battery tests on my Galaxy 5 pro lte.
Scenario 1: Minimal settings + AOD
1. Default Watch face
2. Always on display (AOD)
3. Brightness set to less than 50%
4. Arm gesture to activate display
5. Everything else set to OFF
This resulted in 30% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 3.3 days.
Scenario 2:
Scenario 1 settings plus the following:
1. Wifi on
2. Data (LTE function) on
3. Bluetooth on
4. Location on
Gives 37% battery loss in 24 hrs.
Estimated 100% loss in 2.7 days.
Scenario 3:
Scenario 2 but with AOD off.
Gives 28% battery loss in 24 hrs.
Estimated 100% loss in 3.6 days.
Between Scenario 2 and 3, the AOD uses 25% battery life.
By controlling setting variables like above we can make better real world estimates of battery life. If I set notifications on and made use of any health functionality then battery life would be WAY LESS than the best case Scenario of 3.6 days.

Great video, I think you can just squeeze a little more out of it if you would use an other (older) Samsung watch face (the digital dashboard or health dashbord+) as they are really power efficient.

I'm at 45% in 24hours. I'm nervous not putting it on the charger tonight. Seems about the same as my watch 4 classic.aod off, raise to wake on every 10 min bpm.

What about LTE and BT versions. Any difference there? Have LTE and it barely makes 23 hours
If you do use the LTE function it will eat the battery pretty quick. If you are always connected to your phone it should not make much difference.
I'm a smart watch virgin, just got the pro in black, LTE version.
I never owned any smartwatch so can't compare any to the 5 pro but I get 2 1/2 days. I had no gps usage during that time sooo ... If you use gps I imagine it's lower
I can't rock my w5 with the screen off can't do it . I'll libe with the battery hit .
I believe it's a little better than the new apple watch ultra which I believe can get “2.5 days”. not impressive like Huawei but much better than S6,7 or even 8.
Again, Huawei does not allow you to make calls unless you have your phone with you. You also can't reply to text messages other than with canned responses. It's just bluetooth to your phone. It completely defeats the purpose of a "smart watch". Add in making calls and texts and I guarantee it's battery would suffer.
but the huawei are missing a lot a features like NFC and apps you cannot get. I would prefer getting a lower battery life than a smart watch not so smart...

What I do is I turn my Galaxy watch off every night before I go to bed.
Would be great if you make a video to see how many days it will last. I bet it would last more than a week.
If you have already done it then why not share your results? I too cannot care less about sleep tracking.
@@treydrier3169 I have bought the Galaxy watch frontier 2018 and so far the battery life is very solid and it can drive me through almost 3 days. Not only turned off at nights, it has been always off until I wear it.
The older galaxy watches seemed to have better battery life or at least better battery optimization
@@AD-xn7pt Not the ones that have it's own sim card or GPS capability. I had an older one that lasted 7 days between charges but it didn't make calls nor did it have GPS. Apples and oranges.
Why do companies overshoot their claims..when in real use its less 🤔..sure we can turn everything off except the time and get 80 hrs but then whats the use of a smartwatch might as well use a regular quartz lol... especially when traveling 😅
Here’s my results on my GW5p black titanium stock settings
I’m getting 5-6 days ish 7 day if you are lucky
2nd test different week AOD this time 1hr exercise a day some occasion texts casual checking the time and notifications I easily got 4 days max
200x better than galaxy watch 4 classic
Out of all the galaxy watches this by far has been the best 👍👏😎

Mine pro 5 lasts 48-50hrs max with WiFi, data turned off. I really feel like giving it back :/

@@Sal0_o daam I didn't think it would make drain the battery that bad. I had the gw4 lte and it would last no more than 24hrs I guess it's an upgrade. But I honestly thought it would be alot better
totally agree with you and I have 9 days left to decide but not at all pleased,, display at the absolute minimum most things turned off . not even 50 hours
everything off, exept HR, stress and sleep and only get 2 days and 19 hours... it's when i miss my garmin fenix 5x ... 😮💨
Can't beat a Garmin. Wish they made a wear os version.
