Are you looking for the best survival blankets also known as space blanket, mylar blanket or emergency blanket on Amazon of 2020? These are some of the coolest survival blankets we found so far: ✅1. TITAN Emergency Survival Blankets ✅2. Adventure Medical Kits NanoHeat Heat-Reflective Travel Blanket ✅3. Go Time Gear Life Tent Survival Shelter ✅4. The TACT Bivvy Sleeping Bag ✅5. Lifesystems Thermal Blanket ✅6. Survive Outdoors Longer Sport Utility Blanket
The science is less simple than many people realise. Most of the body’s radiant heat (infra red waves) are absorbed by clothing, which then emits very little. ‘90% or 80% heat reflection’ is only possible in lab conditions, naked, with no direct contact or moving air, not real life.Wherever the mylar touches your clothing or body it conducts heat away very quickly. Laying down on cold ground in one of these, without very good insulation underneath, is a disaster. Carrying a proper insulating mat and sleeping bag is a much better plan. Ask yourself why polar explorers don’t use these.
No one ever address the problem of condensation with these blanket. If you sleep in a bag type survival blanket won’t you wake up with damp close the next day because the material doesn’t breathe ? Won’t camp clothes actually increase the chances of hypothermia?
@Scuba Trooper what a response in this post! My comment was about condensation in an emergency type bag made out of Mylar or similar. Plastic can't breathe so there could be a sizable problem in a cold environment when you need to get out of it. Damp clothes will cause you to loose heat rapidly.
When you advertise these for preppers you need to realize that we are prepping for anything from war to hurricanes so ya a bright orange one could be nice but ideally it’d be a nice hidden camo option to that’s why in getting the titan
Good point, but the most likely scenario for these to be actually used are hiker/hunter who got lost or injured in the wild. Then, an orange blanket could be very helpful. If you watch any “I survived...” wilderness mishap videos, you know that so often planes or helicopters pass right over the lost person, who remains unseen doing all they can to be seen.
The polyethylene blankets(shopping bag material) are quieter than the mylar by about a factor of 4. SOL does a decent product for about $6.00 The best bang for the buck is reflexcell / Blizzard survival products 3 layer blanket. It is pricey and noisy...but is survival situations it kicks all these other products asses. The small measures 2.3m x 1.56m or approximately 7.7 feet long by 5.15 feet wide. www.blizzardsurvival.com/shop/blizzard-3-layer-survival-blanket-small/ I have personally used these and they are amazing. There are many videos here on the youtube showing them being tested. They even do a jacket ruclips.net/video/iglBykDNC1s/видео.html Remember survival is not a night at the ritz carlton. Cheers, Stay safe.
Those blankets work better with liners even a cheap fleece blanket to put inside their lightweight less than $10 in most places call sheet and better they probably don't teach it anymore but don't go out in the woods without a compass way to start firing a good knife for a couple knives walking stick used to teach Carrie 2 weeks of stuff the weight helps you stay in shape just think if you're that wimpy where you can't carry it stay home or walk around the block
Basically it's a lie about 90% heat being reflected back... what does that actually mean in real body warmth. Use just that as a blanket in minus 20 - 40 degree weather and you are dead. Use it as a blanket and it's no different than a garbage bag or plastic sheeting... Yes they help as improvised shelter but not really any better than just plastic. For the reflected element to work in a shelter you will need a substantial fire and most likely it's the fire that saves the person. Just one longe advertisement.
I have a question, recently I watched two 'survival experts' on discovery channel; I think it was Dave Canterbury and another guy who lives barefoot. The barefoot guy built the shelter using a semi-clear sheet of plastic and a 'survival blanket' plus boughs on the ground for protection. It was in northern country, sub-freezing temps. It was said that heat from the fire was absorbed thru the plastic, radiated back onto the two using the survival blanket as a backdrop and the temperature inside was very comfortable. Obviously this was TV, but is the science correct? I did notice that while foraging for food they missed the cat tails that are eatable.... Just wondering
@@There4Stand what they did was a simple version of a Mors Kochanski Super Shelter. Basically you create a improvised green house. It works but requires a fire in front of it. If you search yt for super shelter you can find quite a few examples. Karamat channel has some original survival information with Mors Kochanski and another is Survival School House have some real world examples. Typically you need plastic sheeting, space blanket and breathable nylon (parachute type fabic). Hope that helps.
So called Survival blanket with camo pattern? Yeeeeh. riiiight. Kind of shows the level right there. In civilian situations you want to be seen at all times. In many ways, you could get as much use from any cheap plastic sheat. So if I do not have a plastic sheat or big blastic bag, sure I would use a "blanket" like this to protect against light rain if I had nothing else. Actually, some heavy duty plastic garbage bags I have used were more sturdy with way less risks of ripping. The ones with bright orange could be useful for help getting detected, like a marker. Also they may have potential as complementing building material for an emergancy shelter,. Just calling these things 'blankets' is pretty misleading as it assoiciates them with real blankets. I feel they easily can mislead people and create a major false sense of security.

Buy a roll of Tyveck house wrap, use it for shelter.
I carry an emergency blanket and a survival bivy and paracord, along with an emergency candle every day. Summer thru winter.

CAPITALISM doesn't give a shit, mate
@@rorschachgotnicemask9449 are posting in the correct place? We are talking about Mylar emergency blankets and you are talking about governments?

This is not a comparison or test for the best, it’s just a collection of the manufacturers advertisements.
