    I play a mediocre tin whistle but I have been asked toplay this tune a numerus weddings. It is always well received.
    "Step we gaily on we go, heel for hel and toe for toe" is the ultimate commencment for any wedding!
    I think this tune is Scottish not Gaelic.

    But if it was 'Mhairi' it would be pronouced 'Varee'. It should probably be 'Mairi's wedding. And anyway, it was originally written (in Gaelic, as Mairi Bhan) for a lady called Mary McNiven, so all this arguing is pretty irrelevant.
