I mean, I get your point, but would rather have had them just let the fire burn for longer and just cease comms about their plans? At least with his statement we have something we can hold them accountable for.
A lot of people are calling for blood to "have this fixed fast!" or "Make these changes!" people gotta remember that this game is made by about 110-120 people as compared to the thousands that AAA games have normally, and they made it in the Stingray engine, which has been abandoned for 6 YEARS by autodesk. I dont prefer the changes, yes. I think that they need to rethink what the mission statement of their game is, but they cant churn out patches instantly and have them be perfect, plus, a decent amount of their staff are on vacation from what I remember.
Just one question Buzz. I do agree that Arrowhead need to make changes. What I'm confused about is when you talk about action in your video. Do you mean immediate action, like right after they made that statement? Or make no statement at all and just release something to address player concerns? I'm having a hard time determining what you want from AH in this video.
@@interd1m3ns10naltrain Yeah, I agree with this sentiment, 100%. They should be held accountable for their actions and non-action regarding balance and overall issues with the game. The issue I have is this urgency after their statement. I feel like the video is delivering a mixed message that I'm having a difficult time following. Does Buzz want them to address or speak about the issues or doesn't he? Does he just want AH to fix the game with no communication at all? I feel like this video has lost its footing with respect to its messaging. This is all out of respect for Buzz of course, no malice on my end. Just honest feedback.
@@FLINTZ what hes talking about is all the talk about how they "hear our concerns" yet do nothing to address those concerns, clearly they cant do anything withing a day or two, it takes a little time, reverting nerfs in a game is not something that takes 2 months. it takes a week at most.
They justify the nerfs with their idea of making it more realistic.. Brother we are fighting Space Bugs and Terminators with Lasers and spaceships ! F***** your "realism" we want FUN!
Ah yes the realism of dropping from orbit in pods in groups of 4 rather than dropping 100s of troops aboard fully armed attack dropships 5 minutes after carpet bombing the entire area...
Yes! I want invulnerability and laser eyes! Only superman can survive orbital drop. Let me also bring all the weapons i unlocked GTA style. I wanna use every weapon. Pocket space has been a videogame standard anyhow... no need to change it up

I have never seen a company shoot themselves in the foot this many times. They had an incredibly successful launch and every single nerf and bunk change has steadily increased player frustration.
What looked to be a shoe in for GOTY is now free falling. I don't see why the upper management is so fucking dense! We, the players, are who you need to keep happy so we continue to buy Warbonds and shit!
>release the sickle >its awesome and fun to use with 6 mags and while it does overheat, it takes awhile meaning its really great to wipe out chaff enemies >first patch after its release, take the mags down to 3, lower the firerate, increase heatbuild up to an insane amount >release the erupter >its an amazingly fun gun and the shrapnel effect means its super effective against chaff enemies but takes a lot of skill to use to not hurt yourself or allies >first patch after its release, lower the ammo count, remove the shrapnel effect, take the damage down to nothing And they just kept doing it. What did they expect?
Sickle and Erupter are still very fun and effective weapons to use. I've exclusively played 10 this past week or so and do very well on both factions :/ Seems like you and others are just huffing skill issue copium. Like their changes aren't great, but the hyperbole active in the HD2 community is childish at best, and narcissistic at worst.
You forgot the most recent one: -about to release new flamethrowers -ruin fire physics for no real reason, killing the existing flamer along with the new ones
Does the CEO not read the patch notes? Does he not sign off or approve anything? Can we talk about how it seems the whole entire studio seems surprised at its own patches?
The fact they are planning on adding a beta testing branch proves none of the team actually playtests the game they are balancing. They'll let the players do their job for them now.
@@adrenalinekick I wouldn’t have a problem with that… IF the Devs would Listen to their Player Base and take Appropriate Action. However it remains to be seem if a PTS would have Any Positive Effect… More’s The Pity!
@@adrenalinekick It's especially obvious when they use usage statistics to justify the balance changes rather than correlating the balance changes to their applicable in game mechanics. Arrowhead are like a girlfriend that has cheated on you. She did it once, apologized and promised to never do it again, so you gave her another chance. But then she did it again, and again, and yet another time, apologizing and promising to never do it again. So what do they think? Arrowhead isn't going to let it happen. Campaigns will magically succeed and planets be liberated, just like stuff got taken over out of nowhere. It's cool that players would send them the message, but it won't happen.
@@vladenpain apparently in helldivers 1 - super earth has lost many times and the game devs just reset the game like a DnD campaign but honestly if super earth does fall - i dont think i'll just want to replay the war with no "victory" .. theres no end victory only war until we lose, then reset
My feelings exactly. People have limits to their patience, and very few are saints. Im not going to go around screaming or such but i understand people that do.
It's really funny that they nerfed the way flame pierces enemies right in time for this update, because the map design of the new mega nests, and the way enemies build up and pour out of it, would actually be REALLY fun to play with how the flames used to work. Like, picturing 4 Helldivers with the new flame weapons all just incinerating everything as it pours out, is actually giving me a weird new feeling I've never experienced before. A kind of new flavour of disappointment.
Dont hold your breath this game will only get worse. 432 hours playtime here and im done with it. It truly could have been great though in the hands of devs that played there own game
It's as if devs don't realize they can rollback an update and undo it. They should simply back up the current version of the game, then do an update where they massively buff everything, if the update isn't popular, then simply restore the game to the backup before the update.
@@howdoichangemyprofilepictu9839 That is way beyond their ability, it is NOT that simple. They don't even code the game right, and many systems affect others - especially in the way they "bug fix" or patch things, it would be madness if they did that and could lead to non-stop crashing for days, if not weeks. Someone IN the developer team even stated that "revert the guns to their original states" which the top guys shot down because it would be near impossible, even if they want it.

I think it's a bit weird that they are so worried about "BALANCE" In a co-op game where FUN should always come first. You can buff the enemies later. Keep the WEAPONS FUN.
people just want a super easy game where they have power fantasy and are the doomslayer when it’s never going to happen because in game you are worth nothing to super earth there is no power fantasy and that’s the fun part you are cannon fodder used to target weapons and then die a horrible death with your co-op team you’d probably make it through with minimal losses the fun part is when you fight up a base and destroy the command center the fun is the sense of achievement not running through hordes of enemies mindlessly killing everything in sight thats a game that gets stale fast instead use your brain and think if it’s worth engaging with enemies and you’ll have fun

People want a fair and fun challenge, but when the challenge comes from the devs tying our hands and feet together and thrown into a swarm of bilespewers and chargers that doesn't make it fun. I get that some missions should be next to impossible to complete, but that shouldn't stem from not having the weapons to kill, but rather an overwhelming force. The power fantasy lives on where players are wiping out hordes of bugs and bots, but like the Russians in WW2 they just don't stop coming. But that should be one in every 5-6 missions. No war will be a perfect string of victories, but every battle should be given the chance to swing either way.
That's the thing, they have been buffing the enemies the whole time, and then they make the guns feel like 💩 or just straight up useless on the highest difficulty. Weapons from day 1 that were garbage have still not been touched...
Let's be honest, they made money off us and they don't give a damn about the player base. They have some sick vision, that unfortunately no one can understand, starting with the fact that they focus on NERF weapons, instead of constantly adding new things to keep the players who create SuperEarth. Well.. Spacemarines 2 is coming and it can wipe Helldivers off the board, Arrowhead will wake up too late.
There was never good faith from this community the second they got something they didn't like they started treating the devs like shit lashing out like children throwing a tempertantrum and now half the comments on videos like this one are calling for the community to sabotage the game but who dose that affect not the devs it only hurts other players breeding resentment amongst the community between the actually loyal fan base vs the self proclaimed loyal fans that lash out at the slightest inconvenience
@@That_lore_guyso wrong. The community in the first stretch of the game was so optimistic abt this game, everyone was loving it. People like yourself are the problem, people who think things will get better if we keep quiet and don’t voice our frustrations when things are bad.
Back when helldivers 2 first launched, reports came out that the dev's were 'horrified' that players were beating the hardest modes in the game. I think that is the sole motivating factor for all the nerfs .. they don't want people beating the hardest modes .. because of their own hubris. In the end, people will eventually get tired and move on unless they get over it. The game was amazing at launch and has no doubt made Arrowhead buckets upon buckets of money .. but if they want to be in this for the long term, they need to get over themselves.
8:45 Honestly, it's almost more concerning that they're unable to roll out some fairly simple number tweaks within a few days. Hell, that should be doable within a few hours from a purely technical point of view
They're gaslighting, they 100% know how to revert the changes. It's all part of their pr 'playbook' to actively calm people with apologies and promises to then clear the way for more nerfs.
"We need to have both eyes on the Automaton front" Buzz says, noone really gives a flip about it. That's my take about it. I did a small survey yesterday, and the players I asked, where really unhappy, and kind of agreed with "Losing" against the automatons.

Nerfs wouldn't matter if we had other tools but we are 2 patches away from a pointy stick being more impactful than the average AR. Yeah I'm moving on there's so many games coming out and Arrowhead is just not going to come around or grow a brain. They had a license to print money and they burned it all up
When game released back in february, I truly believed it could compete as a serious GOTY contender. Launch was crazy, everyone was talking about the tiny game that no one saw coming, gameplay wise it was just pure, unfiltered FUN... and now...now what? Its just sabotaging itself...thats sad
Imagine saying you’re nerfing fire damage and the flamethrower because of realism and physics in a game where you are fired in a bullet from orbit that comes to an abrupt stop with such force that it buries itself in the ground but doesn’t turn your internal organs to mush.
When Space Marine II hits, this game is toast. If they don't un-f*ck themselves and deliver the power in power fantasy. It's so frustrating because this shouldn't be hard.
It's jot designed to be a power fantasy. A bunch of you id-10ts bought the game thinking that and are mad because the game isn't what you expected. As a result, you're all using toxicity to try and force the devs to change their entire design philosophy. Those of us that appreciate and understand the design philosophy can't wait for you all to leave, so the devs can get back to developing the game. Tell you what, champ. Go and play cod in the meantime. It'll coddle you just right. Shoo. Bzzzzzz
And then players leave in even bigger droves than helldivers 2 because an enemy takes 5 bullets to kill. I swear, if people want to play 1 shot everythibg borderlands style gameplay, then just play borderlands ffs
I don't think hell divers 2 was meant to be a power fantasy I think people just told themselves that and if you want to play Power fantasy go play Doom internal
I dare all Helldivers to not play from Aug 15 till Oct 15th. That would give them about 61 days to fix this mess. If no ones, playing; they have no excuse not to fix it. Otherwise, i may be done with it. Ive got over 200+ hrs in the game, recently maxed the ship & have all the warbonds. Level 103 about & just along the idea of, why am i putting myself through this? My friends cant hardly join without the host being switched 20+ times, they cant join back when the hard crashes against bots happens. Just getting fed up with half baked ideas & "balance" changes. I want to have fun, not be realistic after my 8+ hrs at work. If thats the case, ill go play something else.
I'm part of the 40k+ divers that just roll with thr punches and play regardless of inconsequential changes like *checks notes* Gibibg stagger back to thr slugger snd taking away some mags from the most boring weapon in the game.
Do I need to remind people they didn't even know their armor factor didn't work at launch until players told them ? I'm sure a lot of testing went into *THAT*.
I am pretty level headed about this stuff and not a rage gamer, but it’s depressing to see nerfs while difficulty continues to spike. Doing a level 6 is fun for trying out new loadout ideas but I also like the bigger enemy hordes at higher difficulty. However, being chased by six chargers while being ragdolled by an impaler is not a great time. The game is so close to being the right mix if the players had just a little more power. I loved helldive difficulty with the flamethrower and now 8’s are a slog. And the awful visibility in nearly every biome is very puzzling. Nobody even mentions it among the other issues but there is always something obscuring your vision.
Have you ever noticed that the lower difficulties can sometimes be harder than level 9 Helldive difficulty with the same load out, same people, etc? If you ask me, that's not balanced.
My issue that people tend to skip over is this.... AH CEO stated that they have "long lead times and what we're seeing is weeks and months of development work." It has also been stated that the nerf wont be reverted to before the nerf as the fire effects would break the game in more ways. So the fire has been an issue for weeks or months and instead of fixing the issue they decided to lie about it. Patch notes: Adjusted flame effects to work more realistically. It doesn't go through various bodies/objects where bounce off would be the expected behavior, like on armors and static objects. That's not how fire works. They know it. We know it. They could have spent the time fixing the issues but instead decided to just gut the fire effects and give us this BS realism excuse. AH should have delayed the fire centric warbond until they could fix the fire. The team was away on holiday? Cool! enjoy your summer and spend time with your families. But knowing that they were already on thin ice with the community. They should have just said "wait the new fire weapons would break the game? Lets delay the warbond, players can enjoy the new enemies and we can focus on fixing up the game as we promised back in May." This would have saved so much face with AH. Now the player base is ripping the game, the developers, and the CEO apart. The amount of game breaking bugs is piling up and we're stuck on such a simple thing like fire.
6:36 “ we’re gonna come back with a plan for you its a 45 day plan , 45 points one point per day, get the 45 points we are back in business!” - Michael Scott
IF, and it's a big if, they manage to actually get better at balancing weapons rather than nerfing them into the ground, they still have the big problem of their community managers being kind of awful people who behave like overly controlling DMs.
They have consistently given the middle finger to their players on multiple occasions. Each time they say they'll do better but never do. At this state HD2 should die so the players aren't subjected to this abusive behaviour.
Yeah it does feel different, completely different since launch and for the better. The game has improved a lot since then and while I might not agree with every decision they make regarding balance, this ridiculous outrage and doom posting over the most minuscule things is completely over the top. There is by far a way bigger plethora of weapons and loadouts that I can use compared to launch and the game is fundamentally extremely enjoyable. Yes some weapons still suck (lib pen) but does that ruin the game and make me go full doomer? No. Quite frankly the hate arrowhead gets and the insults are not justified and youtubers like this one who farm this over the top outrage for clicks are pathetic honestly.
What's not making it fun for you? Do you feel limited by the loadout choices? Did you only ever have fun burning through chargers legs? Are you lacking in primary weapons that are effective? Because I only play on D10 and I feel like my options are vastly expanded compared to launch
It’s incredibly frustrating when AH keeps saying what they think we want to hear, only to turn around and do the exact opposite, damaging both trust and the game itself. The constant nerfs and changes that don’t align with what they promised just make it worse. It feels like every time they say something that sounds good, we have to brace ourselves for the inevitable disappointment.
Even more so when to think how much unnecessary time has been wasted on patches for balance and nerfs that havent been warranted that could of been spent on story, crafting new missions, new stratagems, new biomes, vehicles but no. So they are doing more damage than they probably realize.

I do love how they constantly make it worse and seem to show no slowing down. I started getting bad vibes after the few updates and then remembered the third alien enemy has been leaked pretty much since launch and still no clear signs of it being implemented. I think they hate the player base unironically even letting alone the statements the CMs/Devs have made. the result of each update just reinforces that vibe
The reason smaller studio games have magic, is because their small size allows them to be agile, flexible, and let their creativity hit the frontline with expeditious fervor. The HDII dev team seems to have grown too big, or too corporate, and has become slow, corpulent and zombified. 60 days turn around for what should be a quick finger snap rollback and work on the change you'd still have to spend the 60days on, thus allowing your players to retain the enjoyment they had was the correct move. But they can't do that, due to some level of incompetence. Be it poor planning, weak or incapable support/back up systems, or a simple a lack of understanding of how to do things right.
Despite chargers being janky and sometimes oppresive i actually dont think you HAVE to nerf them. If we continue down this nerf happy road for player equipment then yes the enemies are going to need to be powered down but if they stop this and hopefully revert some of these bad choices then you can leave chargers as is because my tools will actually work.
Start big. Fix the issues that are stunting the players' fun, beginning with the weapon viability (or lack thereof). Then, while the community has a good time, work on everything else. It's the only way to save the game
@broosycruise maybe "viable" is the wrong word. I'm mainly looking at how certain weapons are completely outclassed by others and/or are made less useful with the addition of new enemies, especially the Impaler
@Jmsgmng did I say I was using primaries on heavies? Each weapon has its role, and some are better at their role than others. An example is the breaker spray and pray vs the breaker incendiary pre-nerf. No one used the s&p because it had lower damage and worse handling than the incen, and didn't have the flame effect. Strategems (support weapons included!) are the answer for heavies, 90% of the time. 450+ hours of playtime has proven that. Please be careful about making assumptions like that, because we all know what assuming does
Lol, I'm taking a break right now, but oddly enough I will come back to fight on super earth, just to see what it looks like and to see that story. But in true arrowhead fashion, they probably don't have it ready and Joel will have to do some wordplay on why the bots magically lost control of those planets.
@@northlandphoenix Please don't fight for winning, just to check it out. We need to lose this time to get them to understand that we are just so horribly tired and that the enemies are getting harder and we weaker.
I still remember this game on launch and the month after, it was getting nothing but praise, but love. AH was regarded so highly among the indie dev industry. I've never seen such a worse fall from grace than this. A game that had so many players that the servers couldn't handle them, now needing a 60-day plan to save it.
Well, they are still stupid. The 60-day plan mostly addresses specific things players pointed out. Beyond that it's more "corporate bullshit", without any promise, based on which they could be held accountable in the future. People might get what they want now, but next week it will be the same as before. Perfectly demonstrated by the last point of the 60-day plan: "Rework chargers". Who the fuck said chargers are bad? People said the weapons they need to use to deal with chargers are shit, therefore chargers are more aggrevating than ever. For fucks sake did they ever learn how to listen? Or is it that they will let this specific nerf go, but then rework the charger so they can keep nerfing weapons, without any noticeable influence on gameplay? Fucking great job either way.
Reverting the last update is a simple process that only requires a few clicks. While this will undo recent fixes, the team can reimplement them over time as they adjust the code. This approach would please many players and demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving the game. For context, I have worked as a game dev and am familiar with coding.
There should be an Arms race between us and the enemies. People create a meta/use certain guns for too long... make the enemies gain special bonuses. Spawn more units of certain type, apply a shield to some. Super Earth command if it was in any way "realistic" they would promote OP weapons, make more of them and upgrade them to be even more OP. You want to win, right? I never saw a soldier saying " My weapon/tank/plane is too powerful, we should make it weaker to make it FAIR". Like.... really? Bots and bugs should change to screw with our OP META builds. While also SEC must work on upgrading other weapons, so that if enemy changes their tactics, we could swap for different guns, to counter their defences.
Don’t hold your breath folks for one holding your breath for 60 days is detrimental for your health for two we know damn good and well they ain’t fixing this game in 60 days that’s laughable
I am new to the channel, I stopped playing Helldivers after launch, as simply burnt out and my friends were no longer interested doing the same thing repeatedly. I didn't have as much as an issue but naturally stopped playing - the point is I don't play anymore, but am really enjoying the style of your videos , how you break stuff down and the editing is all top notch.
1. More then HALF of the primary weapons are shyte. Buff THEM instead of nerfing those that works. 2. DEVS MUST play their game at LVL 8 and above to LEARN....
Saw someone suggest it before, but we need gameplay footage of devs themselves playing high difficulty matches on non meta weapons. Let's see them do what they're asking players to do
@@adamm1117 You'll see them doing the 'throw stratagem, then run until it's off cooldown.' kiting strategy. Because that's the only thing that has consistently worked since launch.
They had a great chance, but they blew it by attacking things that players found fun for the sake of 'balance.' Arrowhead had a finite amount of time to build a loyal player base before the juggernaut that is Space Marine 2 showed up. Now that juggernaut is around the corner, Arrowhead has managed to aggravate nearly everyone, and the death knell is ringing.
The devs have actively stated how they are happy in a mess so long as they can drag others through it So we're leaving. We listened to their words and took them at face value.
Well at least we will be left with a community that doesn't call to fire the devs constantly and harass them every time they breathe. Not to say that devs are perfect, thry stilk have s lot to do, but my god this is why you gatekeep communities
@@AndyisgodckyWhich isn’t even true. Most people are already apathetic. We’re only sticking around to watch the train-wreck like a bunch of rubber-neckers. 😂
Helldiver weapons are constantly being worsened and weakened, while enemies are constantly growing in strength and helldiver soldier pools are depleting? Honestly, at this point it sounds like Super Earth HQ (AH) is filled with traitors or infiltrators trying to drag the war effort down and cause Super Earth to fall...
It genuinely amazes me that arrowhead nerfs the flamethrower, which was already gimped by range compared to real ones, for being too effective against heavy armor. They were literally invented to kill people inside bunkers and armored vehicles. Or thermite grenade being useless. Just for reference, a phosphorus grenade is basically a weaker version of a termite grenade and they can melt engine blocks.
Realism: Pointing a high-powered, armor melting laser into the sensitive optics of an Automaton does.. nothing. It doesn't blind them at all. They still shoot back at you just fine.
Why thr fuck would you suggest getting rid of the Spear fix, getting rid of lasers doing fire damage, getting rid of thr speed loader for thr revolver, and making the bots have 1 shot body shot rockets and 1 shot head shot bullets, and EAT/recoiless rockets needing 2-3 hits to kill most heavies??? People are so blinded by the railgun nerf that they litterslly do not see any of thr other 100+ positive changes thst they have made oh my god.
Arrowhead needs to look back at the history of the community and response from Bungie and Destiny/Destiny 2. While not perfect, the realistic expectations and communication from the studio/community team made huge impact in the community overall.
I remembered how Destiny 2 started off. It was ROUGH but the thing that saved the game (until recently) is *communication* . They kept the players in on what's going on, stay true to the plan, and as a result the game got revived
There was a line in that message that send me off the deep end: "Improve our process for patch/release notes - providing more context and reasoning behind changes" This just tells me that Arrowhead are going to continue with BS nerfs. Why would they need to provide more context if only to win the argument for the nerf. I hope that Arrowhead will change, but that line is telling me otherwise.
The state of the game doesnt matter. As long as there's active players the devs will be egotistical and arrogant dismissing criticism with "If the game is so bad why have we got so many players still? They must hate the game so much they keep coming back! xD" Just stop playing and they'll stop making excuses, theyre too out of touch.
also one thing i do love is they never talk about how shitty the optimization and stability for the game STILL is. it has not improved one bit since launch.
Announce weekly adjustments with a player feedback period. Small adjustments focusing on a particular weapon and getting it to a good spot across all difficulties.
As someone whos been playing the game since February, a literal birthday gift to me, seeing what is going on, it hurts to really play the game anymore. All my friends who are Level 70 and above are outright done playing the game due to the incompetent ideas that Arrowhead just pushes out. It just hurts to have this happen to a game that gave me the fun factor that missed in games nowadays.
Your freinds left the game because they wanted a power fantasy or they just outright sucked at the game The entire point of helldivers is for there to be a challenge it’s not fun to one shot tank enemies it actually sucks to one shot tank enemies that’s why nerfs exist maybe if you and your friends weren’t so incompetent at the game you’d still be having fun
@@Jmsgmng Great way to bridge that divide there, negotiator. You are making me more sure I made the right choice walking away from this rabid community.

Theory: the game devs lean into the satire of "Managed democracy;" They're playing their part as the overlords of democracy in the universe, spreading it and undermining it all at the same time. They're like politicians that claim to listen to the people, promise change, but end up undermining the progress. In the end, it's the soldiers on the ground that get the raw end of the deal. Example: WE GAVE YOU A FLAME THEMED BOND! (While also nerfing flame weapons). Can't get more politician than that. So, in the end, the devs aren't inept, they're simply playing their role in the narrative of spreading mismanaged managed democracy. If this is the case, it's brilliant and funny.

What's funny is that in lore the Helldivers are kept in line by feeding them a bunch of talk about how great they are and giving them access to a bunch of great weapons... But if those weapons start getting crappy, then they would start to see the cracks in the wall. So I think it's pretty lore accurate that the Helldivers are rebelling against super earth at this point. Give your soldiers nothing but crap for too long and they won't want to fight for you anymore.

As the lead balancing developer for Arrowhead studios Alexus Kravchenko is the one who lets nerf and buff changes be finalized. They are the one who gets the final say and even directs what the changes will be. If we want a real shift from spreadsheet balancing to fun balancing then get rid of Alexus. Here's from the Hello Neighbor 2 wiki about his previous actions: "Alexus Kravchenko was the former lead game designer of Hello Neighbor 2. Working his way up from level designer of the unreleased Alpha 2, to the lead designer of the Beta and full release, he left the team right before the game came out. He removed the game's open world aspects as he said "No one would want to walk around an open world", and instead used a map labelled as a 'testmap' in the files for the full game. Alexus said that this map was in a twitch leak from tinyBuild community manager Ira, but he lied, claiming that this was not the final map. He actively removed features from the game, such as hiding under beds and certain AI tricks, as he didn't like "One-Time Gimmicks" which was a big part of the first game. When asked about the Neural Network advertised in the 2021 AI Trailer for the game, he said it was coming and then left the team, possibly to avoid further questions. Nowadays, Kravchenko, somehow, sadly and very suprisingly, has been hired by a different game studio, and is ready to cause more ruin to other games."
I still want to play this game, but every time i'm close to pulling the trigger and buying it, something else happens that makes me stay away. At this point I don't think this will ever be a game I buy, which is a shame, because it looks like a fun game, if the devs can just get out of their own way.
What about a modifier for survival you can apply to any mission? Like 5 star survival will reward you the most materials depending on the level of helldive you do, but you'll have less ammo, fewer supply drops, and more negative modifiers in missions or have the leader of the mission apply an easier modifier that allows 2 extra stratagems and shorter cooldowns for everything, making us players feel like we're taking it to the enemy, but the more modifiers in your favor, the less impact it applies to winning missions and taking back planets.
I agree I mean that's why DRG maintain its replayability each mission has its own negative or positive modifier that makes the game challenging and more fun without tweaking any weapons and just keeps adding more fun overclocks each update or content drop
Honestly, if I were them, I'd release an Emergency Measures ongoing campaign status that reduces strategem cooldown by 50-75%. Sounds extreme, but it puts it more in line with both HD1 cooldowns and with AH vision of having players feel useless with primaries and reliant upon strategems. The main nuisance is just that it isn't fun running around for three minutes while you wait until you can actually play the game again. But a mad 20-40 second scrap with underpowered weapons finishing with big boom wahey? Sounds pretty fun, and easily crawled back when the 60 day work gets done.
Additionally, as part of this, I wouldn't go live with any weapon tweaks whatsoever. I'd run weekly mechanical tests in the new live beta and skip all the cosmetic tweaks, and just use that as a playground for messing around with numbers throughout the 60 days. Roll out weekly thematic batches - AR and Machine Guns Week, SMG and Launcher week, etc. - and push players to trial out the flavour of the week and report back. Then you have your real Escalation of Freedom after so and so many weeks that bundles all the learns into a handful of balance patches.
The unfortunate thing with this whole situation is that not only is it causing issues with people already playing, but is causing people such as myself who have never played, but are interested in potentially trying it, to not want to try the game out. Which is sad, because the game itself looks like a boat load of fun and something that i could really enjoy playing. However with how they are treating their player base i would rather not try it. I will keep my eyes on the game and the situation in the hopes that it does improve so that i can give it a try.
As far as I can tell, Helldivers balance suffers from two main issues: 1 - The Devs do not have a firm system or concept of what each weapon class should do. There is talk of how players should "fit into a role" when it comes to weapon types, but almost all primary weapons fit into the general role of "kill the small stuff." With few exceptions, the primary weapons are only good for chaff units, as the studio has repeatedly stated that your Support Weapons and other Stratagems are what they want players to use when dealing with the larger targets. The problem with that is that it makes a lot of the mechanics of other weapons almost entirely useless, and also means that since there is no particular focus based on a weapon's type, there's a lot of crossover. The Slugger was a prime example particularly in its hayday, as it could 1-shot basic bots from 50+ meters without any bullet drop. Why was a shotgun useable as a rifle? And then when they nerfed it, they didn't actually address that aspect, they instead removed the Destruction and Stagger elements so that it was LESS useful as a shotgun. The scout rifles all do terrible damage compared to their AR counterparts despite being less wieldy and having less ammo, and since enemies engage with you very quickly they're almost useless unless you stand quite a ways off from the rest of your squad. Even the various AR types don't really live up to what you'd think their stats would allow for - The Liberator Penetrator should punch through medium armor allowing you to blast through Hive Guard and Devastators without targeting weak spots at the tradeoff for less ammo and a slower fire rate, but it barely does anything more than the standard Liberator. If the gun doesn't actually help me in any way as an alternative to its originator, why is it in the game? 2 - The Devs have a balance focus that specifically depends on the idea that you as the Helldiver are expendable meat for the grinder and that you SHOULD die to overwhelming odds as part of the game. This is a very strange attitude to take with game design - as a general rule of thumb dying in a game is bad, and players do not like dying. The respawn mechanics of the game allow for death to not be a huge bugbear, but if a developer's goal is to get the player to die fairly often, they are inherently going to utilize balance as a mechanic to force the player into a less-than-ideal gameplay loop. I'm ok with dying in the game, but I should be rewarded for exceptional gameplay capabilities and get my heroic, cinematic moments of barely surviving if I play well and coordinate with my squad. I shouldn't EXPECT to die, but when the weapons become so weak that every moment of the game is absolute desperation, it goes very quickly from heart-pounding excitement to agonizing anxiety and frustration. This is especially true given the fact that if you die, you now don't have a support weapon until it either comes off cooldown or you slog your way through the horde that just killed you to retrieve it - if the game is designed to where I need support weapons and stratagems to deal with half the enemies I come across, then I'm stuck in running simulator half the game if your objective as a developer is for me to die every 5 minutes. I really loved this game on release, and I dealt with the crashes and login issues because it was genuinely fun, and the extreme nature of the game, the cinematic elements, the Michael Bay level of explosions and ridiculous satirical atmosphere were genuinely refreshing and enjoyable. But now the game has been tied down by all this meta-building in a game that isn't even PVP. If people pick only a handful of your weapon options, then that doesn't mean inherently those few are too good, it very likely means the rest of your guns suck ass, and maybe instead of trying to have a gajillion different weapons, you should focus on making the ones you have viable and introduce other, higher quality items for your warbonds. I still don't know why the game has the stat bonuses tied to specific armor sets - I should be able to skin my Diver however I want and just pick the stats I want as a slot into the suit. Why are Hellpod skins even a thing when you only look at them for like 10 seconds and from a top-down view so you can't even see most of the pod? There are just too many design choices in the game that feel rushed and poorly thought out, and I hope Arrowhead can get itself straightened out, because between their failures and Sony's apparent hatred of selling their game, what could have easily been Game of the Year and a monstrous success story has quickly devolved into utter chaos.

Does Buzz want them to address or speak about the issues or doesn't he? Does he just want AH to fix the game with no communication at all? I feel like this video has lost its footing with respect to its messaging. This is all out of respect for Buzz of course, no malice on my end. Just honest feedback.

people just want a super easy game where they have power fantasy and are the doomslayer when it’s never going to happen because in game you are worth nothing to super earth there is no power fantasy and that’s the fun part you are cannon fodder used to target weapons and then die a horrible death with your co-op team you’d probably make it through with minimal losses the fun part is when you fight up a base and destroy the command center the fun is the sense of achievement not running through hordes of enemies mindlessly killing everything in sight thats a game that gets stale fast instead use your brain and think if it’s worth engaging with enemies and you’ll have fun

The power fantasy lives on where players are wiping out hordes of bugs and bots, but like the Russians in WW2 they just don't stop coming. But that should be one in every 5-6 missions. No war will be a perfect string of victories, but every battle should be given the chance to swing either way.

Agreed I think they have a very specific vision for how this game should be played and they're trying to force the playerbase to accept it.

Dude, mechs could hit themselves with their own warheads when first introduced. QA has to be non-existent over at AH HQ.
@@180fJC yeah. I did an 8 that was about as hard as a 10. Being chased relentlessly for 15 minutes. Last night on an 8 we had four stalker lairs.
They're not making the game any more difficult. They're making it more tedious.
Need to rename game to "Ragdoll Juggle 2" ...my gun gets neefed, so I switch to the new meta, then that gets nerfed, switch again..... rinse repeat.
"we can't revert the flamethrower!"
You mean you can't give it armor piercing damage again?
Seems like a pretty easy change to implement to me...
Yeah they wrote "can't" but it reads like "won't."

Anyone who has coded knows this
they claim its not that simple somehow, like wtf are they doing that they can't just change 3 numbers back to what they were
do you know how we could change the damage numbers on the guns? or is it server side?

There was a line in that message that send me off the deep end:
"Improve our process for patch/release notes - providing more context and reasoning behind changes"
This just tells me that Arrowhead are going to continue with BS nerfs.
They must hate the game so much they keep coming back! xD"
Just stop playing and they'll stop making excuses, theyre too out of touch.
also one thing i do love is they never talk about how shitty the optimization and stability for the game STILL is. it has not improved one bit since launch.

I gave them the benifit of a doubt last time, I am done.
As far as I can tell, Helldivers balance suffers from two main issues:
1 - The Devs do not have a firm system or concept of what each weapon class should do.
