When it comes to PvE games, I think “balance” comes from making items/equipment that are exciting to use but don’t totally overshadow other items; not from the best interests of real players and their artificial counterparts. In PvP games, I think “balance” is a maintained fairness between two opposing sides of real people. You want players to feel like they’re not being run over by this meta weapon or utility skill. Arrowhead treats Helldivers like a PvP game in which the bugs/bots have any feelings or input on the current meta- which is totally ridonkulous
Except how can it be balanced with all the things not fixed atm? Bots are unplayable imo with the amountof times being shot through rocks. Bugs now require a very specific loadout that has high medium armour and high charger/bile titan/impaler killing requirements.
Bots and bugs DO have feelings in this- it's called the Studio. They control the bugs after all. It's a controlled opposition. As I've said many times, the devs have an "us vs them" approach to the game. We haven't been fighting NPCs, we've been fighting the force manipulating the system and game itself against us, like a bad DM in D&D. It's very evident that they are spiteful beyond just flavor text.
"After much received feedback, we've identified the issue with primary weapons, and we'll be working on improving those weapons for our next patch after we return from our next holiday." -AH on Thursday probably.
Now that we returned from holiday we be working on a fix to all the bugs from the last patch, after we go on mandatory vacation for 60 days. let us cook -AH again after patch probably.
"We are so tired getting back from holiday and have heard your feedback, we've looked into it and going to discuss it, we've announced a 120 day plan to do a partial fix to weapons you found reliable to use after our last nerfs."
This is true. They don't have any idea how to play the game. I haven't played in months, but the last time I was active my squad was managing D9s with meta weapons easily. Trouble is.... I don't want to keep using meta weapons and down around D7 where I like things... you still gotta use them.
@@nocturnalverse5739 You don't need meta loadouts at diff 7 or 8. I've managed to beat both difficulties with the Scythe laser loadout + OPS and OGB which is considered a meme loadout.

Honestly, many people are getting tired of games designed to keep you playing for as long as possible and want to be able to : enjoy a game, move on to the next, enjoy that game, move on to the next, while occasionally going back to a fun game. With helldivers 2, for me it's a "hey guys, feel like some helldivers?" We then play 1 or 2 full campaigns before we crash for the night, then next time we get together we play more helldivers or another multiplayer. Sometimes we switch games mid night. The idea that if you enjoy a game means you have to exclusively play that all the time is not the reality for many people.
Even if they came out with an amazing update they’ll almost certainly never get all of the lost countries (and divers) back. So yeah, HD2 already had their peak. I still love it and wish it the best but I’m off to server the Emperor’s will tomorrow.
My old baseball coach had a great saying which I find is how I feel about the illuminates, "Shit or get off the pot." The time to reveal something big in the game was a month ago.
I think the reason they aren't taking the player drop off seriously is because the game is still out performing all of their expectations for how it was going to do We'll see if that attitude stays the same once space marine and forever winter come out If that drop off doesn't light a fire under them nothing will
Funny how both of those, being on opposite ends of the fantasy. Space Marine is the absolute 'max power' route, while Forever Winter is the exact inverse of 'your a rat, live like one' route.
Mostly negative reviews spiking, devs panic! Illuminate revealed, please distract the players! Illuminate will either also still take a while to join the game, or will release SOON ™, earlier than planned, and equally bugged... Helldivers 2 coffin is nearly full of nails, now...
@@MackDKenpachi imagine that. It's SO WEIRD that real gamers spend time driving discussion about how corporate greed and a few out of touch developers are literally killing off one of the greatest games of this decade, that started off as both a shining example of what "games as a service" SHOULD BE by balancing reasonable cost of initial purchase and optional in game cosmetics while also being fun and engaging for the players in a way that keeps players wanting to keep playing... The game IS dying. And i hate that. But it isn't dead yet, and if the devs keep seeing content created by fans, engaged by fans, including construction criticism and useful feedback on how to fix issues and save the game, maybe enough of those devs will pull their heads out of their asses and listen and save the game. If you think caring about the game is weird or that remaining silent and ignoring the issues will lead to the game being fixed, you might be part of the problem
The game is fun and it is also supposed to be challenging. Yeah the game has its problems with the bugs and lack of content but other than that it’s fine to me and as far as the nerfs less ammo was never a big issue yall blow that out of proportion. The fact that you can’t 1 shot heavy units? The fact that you can kill every unit bug side even a charger which is a heavy unit in seconds???? Yall go to the highest difficulty and die 8 times and call the game dogshit because you feel like your primary should be able to kill everything within 2 to 5 bullets. Yall say the game is dying when the real Helldiver players just see it as the hype train players leaving and the people who are trying to force this devs to make everything overpowered and are pissed because they don’t want to do that are leaving. But hey now they about to make the game just how yall want it with everything being strong then the next thing yall will complain about is the lack of difficulty. I still say this game is/was killed on purpose. I don't know if sony got mad over the whole link thing and commanded it, I don't know if arrow head couldn't handle the unexpected number of people who played this game at launch and didn't want to look bad, or if there is/was some other motive behind it, but you can not tell me a whole group of people saw/heard hey we are going to hype one of the biggest additions/releases of the game and nerf fire despite there being huge outrages with prior nerf, and even better follow that up with the addition of new nerfed fire weapons, and saw absolutely nothing wrong! Sorry not buying it.
That's exactly what I've been thinking. Either out of spite of the players, or to squish the studio that spoke up and said no. Or most likely because they massively over saturated their own market within weeks of release, meaning the potential for future profit is negligible with the (from a corporate suit's perspective) low margin of microtransactions. So they killed it to save money long term not having to pay the devs to maintain or run the live service, or host the servers.
It also could be that they need an excuse to focus most of the studio on the next project instead of pooling most of their resources on this current game because the outdated game engine limits what they can do with this game. It adds up with the fact that they slowed down updates, won't add the vehicles in the files, and those jungle maps with lots of things going on tanking the frame rate or just crashing the game. They know this current game is a dead end, so I guess everyone will be waiting for HD3...
Simplest answer is the most common. Devs over their skis not understanding what needs to be done/ gearing the game for a Souls shooter instead of what people latched onto. The engine is an old style but this notion that the engine is the old one is a misconception.
I too feel that Sony is not treating Helldivers 2 well. Considering the Concord disaster, they really need to treat the live service games that actually succeeded like Helldivers 2 way better. A good start is to reenable sales of the game to the 177 non PSN region countries.
Successful failure, I suppose. They made out millions of sales across nearly 200 countries. It's safe to say this game was and is a success despite the devs literally killing it. Did anyone else notice they only rolled back the account linking nonsense immediately after Steam started handing out refunds? It was literally the next day after that Steam started processing refunds that Sony backed off.
To the dude using the gordan ramsey quote, yeah gotta be honest hes right. Ive played HD2 since launch and through all the good and bad i have praised and defended this game to no end, now, its getting really hard to even attempt to defend this game. @@thathandsomedevil0828 usually with random people actually. Even when the nerfs began, I would rely on teams. But as time went on, there were too many occasions where it escalated too quickly. Things like, we would somehow be in range of the flying robot enemies and constantly be bombarded down to the 20th soldier and people rage quitting after that unfair fiasco. That was the first 5 minutes of the mission for that memory. Then there's plenty of times when one charger would finally be taken care of, only for it to be replaced by two more. Then more show up until 5 chargers are wreaking havoc after we used our strategems or Rockets just recently to beat like 5 of the ones prior. So I and these other random players would have to run away. They were often better than me, and yet often steam rolled by these more powerful enemies. But not all of these scenarios end in defeat. A few of them, we manage to win. But after so much time wasted and no samples recovered because someone died trying to to get the samples onboard, it felt so incredibly dissatisfying that I wished I never even bothered. Those more recent experiences are so different then back then. Even when I lost, it felt like I was too cocky or too unlucky for the time and it was fun that way in a comedic sense at least. Now, it's just boring of trial and error with errors being total losses and nothing to gain from it.

Did you actually read their *"promise"* It's the most PR bullshit I've read since Cyberpunk 2077s massive flop. *"Continue to re-examine our approach to balancing!"* Says absolutely nothing about reversing weapon nerfs or buffing weapons, for that matter. SM2 is upon us soon brothers!!! But honestly I’m surprised no one’s talking about Starship troopers coming to consoles on Oct 11. It’s been out on PC for a while, but the potential of the helldiver community switching to become a star ship trooper(On console at least) I think it’s pretty high. The amount of content, environmental destruction, weapons, the mass amount of teammates, building mechanics. It looks fun, I’m def getting it.
All the rebalancing and buffs in the world still won't fix the fact that most people have NOTHING to play towards. Without some sort of late game progression, weapon/armor customization, literally ANYTHING, those player numbers will continue to drop. Add in the fact that Space Marine 2 is about to come in and eat their lunch right off of their own table, and it's really not looking too good for HD2. At least for the foreseeable future. You cant realistically expect them to do that from both a realistic standpoint and just from their goofy antics. I can be mad at their incompetence, really guys? Glitch with the Illuminate....Come the hell on...
I am. The *"patch"* they released last week addressed multiple crashes, but the very next day, they dropped an *"emergency hotfix"* to fix another gamebreaking crash. One comment on that dayafter patch literally asked: *"Why can't you guys post emergency patches to reverse the nerfs or address the weapon buffs."* I mean, they literally advertised this in their game trailers that they had full and convient control over every single gun, so they could adjust the settings as needed. That's literally in their own trailer. Hold them to what they say and what they do. They can get these patches out in a timely and consistent manner, it's their fucking fault they decided to release their *"biggest"* update while more then half their team was on summer vacation. There is no fucking excuse for this bullshit. NONE.

I would love if the devs introduced the illuminate by putting some weird screen distortion or hallucination, and then mission control canceling the mission and forcing you to evacuate while weird stuff happens. Would love for something like that to happen. Would really hype things up for me
I wish we could get tiered upgrades for the stratagems and weapons. For example, the jetpack should have an "evasion dodge" mechanic where instead of leaping vertically, you could boost horizontally to clear gaps or dodge an incoming horde. If our gear had augments to change the way they perform, I feel like the sandbox would improve by at least 300%. But of course... the devs would just end up with even more things to nerf.
I'll be excited for the illuminate if/when the major issues are fixed. Also it isn't a 30 second shop recap when you draw out stating that you'll do it in 30 seconds, just do it.
At this point, it's all too little too late. Players are moving on, other games to play. HD2 needs a road map, I want to see a concise plan for content and a realistic timetable that AH can stick too. Doesn't have to have spoilers, but just hearing "let us cook" doesn't fill me with confidence. Hell, how hard is it to change a line of code "Max Clip count = 2" to "Max Clip count = 4". I have little to no coding experience, but come on, 2 months? I've seen one man dev indie titles churn out updates at a faster pace.

Agreed, Deep Rock Galactic for instance does this fairly well in my opinion
Except how can it be balanced with all the things not fixed atm? Bots are unplayable imo with the amountof times being shot through rocks. Bugs now require a very specific loadout that has high medium armour and high charger/bile titan/impaler killing requirements.
Bots and bugs DO have feelings in this- it's called the Studio. They control the bugs after all. It's a controlled opposition.
As I've said many times, the devs have an "us vs them" approach to the game. We haven't been fighting NPCs, we've been fighting the force manipulating the system and game itself against us, like a bad DM in D&D.

We then take Cyberstan, defend it and in defence missions it drops both Cyborgs and Autos in a 3 way battle 😂
I play to have fun, and I won't play this game again until it is fun. I have enough memories of how much fun it was, and those memories will always remind me to check on the state of the game. Every time I check is another chance for the devs to have released a mending update that would win me back as a regular player, but many people don't have those memories prompting them to look back... very good use of that Ramsey quote. It takes nostalgia to look past all this disappointment.
6:20 I love anything fire based in this game, I tried the napalm barrage and I can guarantee I’m using this for every mission
Saw the napalm barrage and thought: Look ArrowHead, thats what Fire looks like.
*Nice timing on the intro. Mean beat drop.*
Great, and informational video as always!
I feel this update is getting hyped but im still worried.
Me and my buddy both thrown orbital napalm into mega nest at the same time not gonna lie we took it down just the 2 of us if this stratagem is back to on the major order to unlock it I heavily suggest everyone put in time to unlock it as quick as possible
Squids will filter divers like they did in the first game, 98% sure of that.
I think it's to late, space marine 2 is getting a lot of hype, and they take a lot of time to just talk and not act on the fixes, thisbis very sad really
It’s not helldivers mate . it’s probably going to be an amazing game. Don’t give me wrong.
@@thelazyfox8070Exactly. It's not Helldivers. Which means the guns work and the pve experience is fun
@@Blank55600 no nerfs for bs reasons
Everyone bitched about their content being released too fast and thst the devs didn't take enough time testing content an changes. Now they listened and everyone is bitching it's not fast enough. Literally can't make anyone happy. Jesus. Make up yalls minds.
@@Blank55600 The multiplayer also looks really fun, reminds me of Uncharted 2's multiplayer.
I don’t understand why did people think there was an update this past Tuesday? Did I miss something?
The napalm looks pretty good as a cover over butts while moving off from a huge bug swarm
After so many nerfs and just so many convenient REALISM bs, definitely done with Helldivers. Unless they massively buff all guns and put the railgun back to where it was at, at launch, have some form of end game, have some way for us to spend our overflowing samples, and a progression system for our guns, I'm not coming back.
Ok don't come back at all then.
LOL, yep, checks out, sounds like something a redneck child would say.
Children will be children.
@DeibittoLiang children edit and delete soo much! Child please!
That napalm barrage looks cool. I will have to check it out after work.
Im not ready to get mad at AH for not sending out a patch after making their 60 day announcement.
One comment on that dayafter patch literally asked:
*"Why can't you guys post emergency patches to reverse the nerfs or address the weapon buffs."*
I mean, they literally advertised this in their game trailers that they had full and convient control over every single gun, so they could adjust the settings as needed. That's literally in their own trailer.
Hold them to what they say and what they do. They can get these patches out in a timely and consistent manner, it's their fucking fault they decided to release their *"biggest"* update while more then half their team was on summer vacation. There is no fucking excuse for this bullshit. NONE.
I won't drop until they fix the flamethrower.
Same, but Eruptor
I mean I'm just calling it now but it's like they're treating us like a bunch of idiots at this point it's really starting to irritate me like you wouldn't believe ooo we just came from vacation we're tired , oooo the patch will be pushed back again just like we said last time , oooo we have an announcement about an announcement 😂
It’s really a bummer but I just don’t care, these devs have put on a masterclass in how to not retain players. I’m much more interested in just supporting your channel by watching and seeing where this dumpster fire goes.
It's over. All they had to do was rollback the flamethrower nerf. Oh well.
Just. Make. The. Fucking Game. Fun Again. LET ME BLOW UP BUGS WITH OVERPOWERED WEAPONS. HOO RAH.
I mean, wasn't the whole point to have a Starship Troopers fantasy? It's like sending the Roughnecks out there with NERF blasters right now.
Obviously the incompetent Devs disagree to the detriment of the games fun and playability
Nice to find a channel that doesn't focus on drama and negativity!
That napalm barrage stratagem is so beautiful! I wish we got it permanently
I am unsure why I even play this tbh. Can't wait for SM2
the cooldown on that napalm barrage is way too long imo. pre-nerfed
I'll be excited for the illuminate if/when the major issues are fixed. Also it isn't a 30 second shop recap when you draw out stating that you'll do it in 30 seconds, just do it.
Helldiver's CEO/ Developer's. Are people who win the lottery. And loses the
tickets.
Love the talk of the new enemy type. It's exciting!
With how they've placed the Illuminate it appears that there will eventually be a 4th enemy faction. Perhaps a truly new threat to Super Earth.
I love fire. That will be replacing the 120 in my standard build. More promethium to the flames!
