Remember when gaming wasn't as mainstream, and allowed for an escape for some people from the real world? Things like being fed up with the world? Now gaming is mainstream and putting in the same issues that gamers tried to escape from.
Yeah it is really stupid even shows and comics now. I swear some people miss the point that gaming is one way of getting out of reality for a little bit and relieving stress. Now they want you to be reminded about the real world 24/7 and will bitch about how they are depressed all the time.
It's all political now and we keep getting fed ideologies when all we want is our own unrestricted entertainment, not entertainment that excludes or highlights certain things due to an ideology. So few games have the sole purpose of entertainment anymore.
The worst part about this, is that its dove. Dove can provide body positivity by making products that are aware of different race's hair types and diffrent genetic things that could make your body sensitive to certain chemicals etc. But not with gaming (something that a big corporation knows nothing about). Same with coca cola. Why did coke make an ad where they were using the power of coke to reunite gaming? They're a fucking drink. Plenty of games provide a lot of customization in their games, so leave to the games, not a fucking soap company.
Dove isn't even promoting body positivity. It's promoting self destructive behavior, saying "you're just built different and can never change. But hey at least we support you." That isn't healthy, these fat people arent built different, they're just fat. If they were big boned they'd be like Eddie hall, look him up for reference, which they aren't making them the same as everyone else aside from their uncontrolled eating and lack of exercise. Body positivity was meant to promote beauty, too much fat isn't beautiful, it's repulsive.
It's not about giving an option. It's about imposition. They want the "be attracted to megaugly women or get executed in the gulag" scenario to become real. They see personal likings and self-thinking as something evil that must be beheaded/hung up/gas-sed/shot at with anti-aircraft shells/electric chaired by the all mighty Government, and it will be all done in the name of love, compassion and democracy. Do the "L" or their love will kill you and your family.
Land whales have way more area to cover and they sweat and smell worse. At least on paper, they're a much more attractive demographic for selling soap to. Either that or the entire marketing team at Dove consists of men with feeder fetish. Both theories are equally likely, I think.
@@TheseUseless you're right, but the point is the constant pandering to people who choose not to take care of themselves and these companies go "it's fine, gain more weight and dont even acknowledge that your health might be an issue".
@@TheseUseless yes, but the point is its a recent phenomenon. For most of human history, only a tiny portion of the wealthiest people could afford to be fat. We shouldn't be normalising it at all.
*I'm fat . A fat woman.* I've been fat my whole life despite my attempts to change that. I've also been playing games since forever and I grew up loving Lara Croft. Badass beautiful woman, hell yes - adventurous, strong, confident and sassy. When I play a game I want to be someone cool, doing things I can't achieve in real life. Climbing towers as Altair and Ezio because I'll never learn parkour. Exploring ruins like Lara and Drake because I'll never be able to afford an adventurous trip. I wanna be pretty and cool, not fat and insecure. The only fat women I see in games are NPCs. Farmers, chefs... idk and idc. I'm already an NPC in real life. I don't wanna feel like one when I'm playing too. *Edit* : yes, guys, believe it or not, I have tried to lose weight many times. But there are many factors that turn that task into something that requires a lot of energy and money. So, TMI time. First off: if you've seen Deadly Pounds and think I eat like those unfortunate souls, you're mistaken. I actually barely eat, however, *the way* I do it is what has been screwing me over - I don't eat every 3 hours to keep the stomach at ease. Sometimes I'll forget to eat because I'm hyperfocused and starve myself for 8, 11 hours without realizing. So, naturaly, next time I eat something, my body stores every single calorie. Second: I don't live in the USA. Going to gym isn't cheap, affording healthy food isn't cheap. Sometimes I can afford something healthy, but not enough variation. Go on, eat a single apple for dinner every single day for three months. I guarantee you'll never want to look at apples ever again. Third; the most weight I've gained happened after highschool, where I fell into cripppling depression and chronic anxiety. I'm currently taking 6 (six!) different meds just to be alive. My metabolism is screwed. My intestines barely do their job and my liver isn't getting any healthier. *So, NO, I can't just "ummm lose weight" *. I have been trying. Now, thank you everyone who has given me kind words, but for the rest, kindly stop refering to my huge fatass. Me being a landwhale would not affect my view. I stand by what I said. *Edit 2* : lol, folks, please, you don't need to fight each other over some fat person on the internet. Just take my initial view for what it is: I play games for the escapism, always have, always will. I started playing when I was like, 6 years old, and back then I was playing Contra II and I wanted to be a shredded guy with huge guns because it looks fun. Today I play Stardew Valley and wish I was living the farm life. It's not that deep. *However* , losing weight is not easy. Anyone saying that is believing a huge hairy lie - otherwise, why would obesity affect such a huge portion of society? Obesity is a complicated issue, me wanting to play badass characters is not; C'mon, stop thinking about my jiggling belly and fat rolls already lmao.
Don't give up, in my struggle, it was the very thing I don't think about. I barely worked out to lose weight but I starved myself of junk food make my own food and replace snacks with a bunch of fruits and veggies snacks I cut up myself.... I think k it's the act of making your own food that really helped me to feel full and accomplished was the start of my domino effect to start hating sugary and highly processed food and drinks. I believe you can do, you just have to find a different and much easier way to start
I completely agree, I look like Dobby from Harry Potter or that gremlin from lord of the rings. Wouldn't want to play as a ridiculously skinny hero since I am not happy with myself, which is why I, unlike the two obese women in this very video, work out regularly.
one of the lore of Sword Art Online is the game actually made your in-game avatar looked like the player physique and appearance after being "hacked". And their starting stats are tied to their real life body. So, when the player is a fat dude, they are basically the first ones to die because how could a overweight guy holding a 3 minutes fight when they are out of breath after 3 sword swings.

Reason is because I NEVER view video game characters as myself. In fact, I like given them their own personal backstories and the like. Because they're fantasy characters. They were never meant to be me in the first place. Even if a character that looked similar to me existed in a game, it wouldn't be me, nor would I even find the idea of that appealing. one big problem that flies under the radar for most people is basically trying to make being unhealthily fat a new beauty standard and thats just bringing us closer to having everyone look like the people from Wall-E
Fat already was a “beauty standard” at several points in ancient times. Being fat will never replace the original beauty standarts, because being skinny is considered a default. Just like gays won’t replace hetero people. Representation only helps preventing bullying in order to prevent su1c1d3.
@@crayonzii people in ancients times were not fat because fat people were rich and powerful back then. Thanks to processed foods anyone can be fat no matter their class.
I appreciate how you specified ‘unhealthily fat’. You actually can be chubby and still be decently fit. In fact, some of the strongest guys out there are a little heavier. The chiseled abs we see promoted in media aren’t quite a normal standard for fitness. I’m looking at the main avatar girl now, and she does look like she’s strong, not NECESSARILY unhealthy. But yeah, there’s most definitely a point where it goes into the unhealthy territory.
I started cracking up at the second Dove commercial! When she rakes off the slimming armor to reveal that she is a bigger girl, why not just give her armor that fits? Then they didn't even make the character the same size as the person that they based it on! They got rid of the slight double chin this moved out her fupa and they gave her slightly thicker thighs😂😂😂
And once you find out that rockstar said they'll cool it with the edgy jokes and make stuff geared towards "modern sensibilities" in gta6, you'll understand how far it's gone

Mei does seem to be more of a mainland Chinese representation like how some black characters are more African than African American. Even when other games show Asian females they are usually sexualized. Which did not help because it is an often and constant a reminder that the game was not made for people like me in mind. Splatoon has been the best game when it came to representation because the player character shares features like mono lids and a flat face that bigger customizable character games usually take more effort to get right like Skyrim and sims. A book series that I very much enjoyed that somewhat tackles the body type thing a bit (not overtly, it just does it naturally through the story) is the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. One of the protagonists, Kip, starts out as a bit of a fatty. Literally, Kip calls himself that, other characters call him it... And you know what? He is. And he ends up being incredibly powerful by the end. But *not* a fatty. Through his adventures, he's forced to train, exercise, and grow stronger. He struggles at first. His unhealthy life shows, and he gets beat bad numerous times, and only through the sheer power of Main Character Mcguffin Syndrome does he even survive. But his "natural talent in magic" or whatever only serves him well early on. He learns, he grows, and in time, he accepts himself as he was, and how he *can be.* He works to better himself, and it shows. He grows up. He doesn't whine like he used to, he doesn't get winded just going up and down some stairs, he doesn't constantly eat... His health improved physically as it did mentally, all because he had one very crucial thing introduced into his life. Discipline. The story features a chubby boy that's scoffed at for his heritage and skintone, sneered at and jeered and all the other things, but he overcomes them not by suddenly having people be inclusive, but by growing up. People stopped dogpiling on irrelevant things to hate him for when he showed his dedication and growth, and I think it was a great journey.

It's cool because it doesn't force anyone to play as an overweight trans woman on a wheelchair when they don't want to.
for real and theres so many games out there where you can literally create yourself and have tons of gameplay. Why would I want to create myselfs completely accurate in a CoD for example only to be seen in like 3 cutscenes in 4 hours gameplay. Games like Cyberpunk and Fallout have so many hours of gameplay and really good customization in which you can literally create yourself if you really want to. There is no lack of options. I personally never understood why people want their character to look like them like I’m not ridiculously self-conscious, or anything about my appearance no more than the average person, I never have issues playing as a different gender, or a ridiculously buff guy who looks nothing like me. I’m embodying the character that they created. That’s how I see it even in games or I can make a character I tend to place a female character just because I prefer the way it looks. I could care less about making it look like myself 😂
For me, it lets me know I'm a person. Seeing characters like Static Shock or Spawn let's me know that I can be something.
Cause seeing what the media used to represent black people as back when my mom and grandparents were alive doesn't represent how I am in the modern era.
Even in games like Mass Effect I made my Sheppard a black woman because it's what I like.
And again, this is all preferences at the end of the day. The issue comes when someone like diesel and Gundam are upset that someone wants to see games with fair representations of themselves.
@@runningbetweenspacesyeah I really hate Gundam he’s a bastard and I’m upset that a content creator I used to love listens to him.
@@runningbetweenspacesea, Characters who share features is better representation. Mei from overwatch was the first ever Chinese representation I saw on games. I grew up with female orientated flash games like dress up and cooking games. It made me more aware of my looks and how un- white I look. It definitely played a role onto my own self hatred. (And that female characters are less sexualized)
I don’t mind playing as a male or even non human. I’ve been doing that all my life.
This is an issue that diesel has never experienced. He’s never felt like he doesn’t belong. And I feel that his reaction to this situation shows it.
"looks like ME, represents ME, dress like ME"
Does these people think about anything other than themselves?

The point of fiction is an escape from reality, you are meant to do what you normally can't.
If they really care about being represented why don’t make their own game. It’s never been easier to create an indie game
They wouldn't dare because only twenty people would actually play it and it would fail harder then the assassination attempt on Theodore Roosevelt lol.

Yeah honestly. I still remember reading the Walking Dead comics and how they basically introduced one of their I think first homosexual characters was perfect.
