A cool Weird History Food video! The '1980s had a bunch of cool snacks. I would love see a part two to this video and/or a guide on throwing a '80s/'90s party!
I LOVED Smurfberry cereal!. Cabooms cereal would turn your poo green, so us kids always had some colorful dumps back then... At least when you went COO-COO for Cocoa Puffs, you knew what color you had coming!
It's weird how many of these feel like they've been around since forever, even though they were brand new when I was a kid and I don't remember a time when these things didn't exist. I was born in 1981, so it feels weird that I am older than Cinnamon Toast Crunch (first sold in 1984), another example of 80s snacks that are still around.
Yeah, Grape Nuts have never contained grapes nor nuts. And made the most boring of commercials too. Did they want people to actually buy them in the first place?
The guy who voiced Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum, Apu (before he became "controversial" and had to be removed from the show), Duffman, and Moe Szyslak was Gargamel?
4:58 Even though I normally ran the 800 in high school track, I ran the mile so the team could add points in an event with less competitive runners. I was able to get under six minutes twice.
Fun video! The flavor sodas I have tried! They are crazy! I have not tried the Ranch flavor but i heard the flavor is crazy! The pop tart topic was very interesting! 😲🤩I like the idea of unfrosted ones! The frosting becomes too sweet at times! 😖
Nerds cereal was my favorite growing up. They had two mini bags inside the box. One was cherry, the other grape. I miss that cereal so much. I dont care what color it turned my poop. Also there was this dessert cup in the late 80s/early 90s. It was different layered shades of pink and sort of like a parfait. There may have been sponge cake on the bottom. Ive been looking for it online but cannot find it anywhere. I dont remember the name.
oh, also I remember dessert cups like that at Kentucky Fried Chicken back then, and I think I know what you mean about store bought ones too. I am also trying to figure out their name.
Good video really had some good memories there even Famous Amos cookies were good. Had some cool memories with some of them and ones that I didn't have the chance to but still knew about.
Act II is great stuff, and yeah, i definitely got down on some lunchables back when i was a kid. Now and again, I'll even grab one while im at the supermarket just because i like the taste of nostalgia.
SmurfBerry cereal looked delicious, and if they ever brought it back, I would gladly buy it. But Ranch flavored soda is 🤢! This was a great video, Weird History! Hope you'll do a video on Jack In The Box Restaurants one day, though please talk about the 1970s era with the animated commercials and the characters voiced by Paul Winchell, voice of Tigger. Three commercials, as well as the three comics [How A House Makes Noise, Where Oil Comes From, How Pain Helps Us] are on RUclips, so researching the 70s era of Jack In The Box should be a little easier [get it? the original jingle was "Take Life A Little Easier"]. Actually, a Weird History Food video on mascots voiced by famous voice actors would be super cool. Paul Winchell was the 1970s animated version of Jack but was also Burger Chef for Burger Chef restaurants. Paul Frees, Haunted Mansion's Ghost Host, was also the Pillsbury Doughboy, which is hilarious to think about given Paul Frees' most famous role as the Ghost Host.
26 years ago, I married into the family behind one of these brands. They are MILITANT about not letting their own kids and grandchildren anywhere near the products!
Eating ANOTHER Weird History meal! Eating CAP'N CRUNCH"S CRUNCH BERRIES*...while watching this Weird History video! * From the Weird History video "Why Was the 80s the Golden Age for Sugary Cereals?"
I am kinda surprised you didn't mention how Wally had to sell the company in 1985, and when he restarted he had to call his new cookie company "The Uncle Noname's Cookie Company", because "Famous Amos" was a part of the company he sold.
I love your brand. Also, thank you so much for that visual during the smurf segment. Now I can never clean my toilets nor see ANy toilet with blue cleaner in it without dread again. Also, why HAVEN'T TBMG been spokes people for cleaning products yet? Also also, great burningman idea. Giant toilet, BMG emerge from the bowl and immediately start drum-raging on the porcelain. I imagine it would sound like a dulcimer impregnated a steel drum. But the 50:1 scale toilet MUST be entirely ceramic to comply with...reasons. Idea copyright me. You all saw it. Unless it's already been done in Vegas... ...in which case I really want to know where they store that toilet in the off-season.
Working in Diet Coke seemingly just to insult Michael Jackson was an odd choice. In addition, quoting anything from Vanity Fair as "facts" about him is very far removed from reality.
11:30 Jack, from the channel REACT, is a hardcore fan of ranch and likes ranch soda. Jack drank Ranch soda on the short video Jack Tries Ranch Soda For The First Time!
It's hard to believe Red Bull has been around since the 80's...back in 2000, a friend of mine bought a can of it off a "legal drugs" website, and it was the first time any of us had heard of it. The brand caught fire pretty shortly after that, but it's strange to think that Red Bull had been around for 13 years by then and I never even knew it existed!
9:39 Michael Jackson's first #1 hit as a solo artist was "Ben" (my name) in 1972. On my 12th birthday (and last school year of elementary school), the #1 hit was his song "Black or White." The awesome music video has Macaulay Culkin in the beginning and Bart Simpson (a character I played for homecoming) in the very end.
Lunchables give us the stick back you Jake the price on them while taking things away, led's add a little red stick 😊 you used to have burgers and hot dogs with a soda those were the best
ConAgra is pronounced both of the letter a pronounced as it is in "magazine". Anybody who has lived in Omaha, Nebraska (their corporate HQ) can tell you that.
Pudding Pops were sooooo goooood, the way the ice would crust the first layer… the vanilla chocolate swirls… 🤤
So good!
Are we the same person?! I LOVED that first icy layer, but I’ve never heard someone else say the same before lol
oh my god, Act 2 popcorn was literally a second version. mind blown.
Same, it never occurred to me that it was named that because there was a prior product.
Yes it really is a mind blower. Times that we don't see done nowadays.
I wondered why it was II and not just Act, now we know. Thanks WHF!
@@kimbrey65 Also can say thanks on that as well.
Now we need Act 3, where all the kernels pop and the first ones to pop aren't burnt by time the last ones pop. 🍿
We should all aspire to be as cool as Famous Amos. Took his money and fame and put it back into the community, what a guy
Lean Cuisine was my go-to meal when I didn't have time to cook. Loved the Pudding Pops, too.
Oh wow I took those GED courses for prep for my GED back in 1988.
I remember eating Smurf Berry Crunch. I also remember the aftermath. Man, I miss the 80s.
Okay, the way she said “SMURF BLOOD” got me laughing.
My whole childhood I was watching Famous Amos while eating Famous Amos.... MIND BLOWN!
They need to bring some of these snacks back
Seeing Famous Amos on _Taxi_ was fun.
A cool Weird History Food video! The '1980s had a bunch of cool snacks.
I would love see a part two to this video and/or a guide on throwing a '80s/'90s party!
I second that.
This is Weird Food History not Weird 80s/90s Party History. Get your head out of the clouds!! (all love, I’m just messing around lol)
0:12 I have two MTV shirts, one was given to me as a Christmas gift from my brother (which I am wearing right now).
I LOVED Smurfberry cereal!. Cabooms cereal would turn your poo green, so us kids always had some colorful dumps back then...

when pudding pops disappeared we just started freezing pudding cups. very tasty
6:01 Man, do I miss those Saturday morning cartoons while eating French fries and lemons.
If I had a smurf berry for every time I wished I had a smurf berry I’d need not wish for a smurf berry ever again.
Eating Grape Nuts is like eating a bowl of gravel with less flavor.
Yeah, Grape Nuts have never contained grapes nor nuts. And made the most boring of commercials too. Did they want people to actually buy them in the first place?
6:46 "Smurf's Blood"
Thank you for that emphasis
Hank Azaria was the perfect Gargamel!
The guy who voiced Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum, Apu (before he became "controversial" and had to be removed from the show), Duffman, and Moe Szyslak was Gargamel?
Amos seems like a fascinating guy
4:58 Even though I normally ran the 800 in high school track, I ran the mile so the team could add points in an event with less competitive runners.

me too, I loved that it came in two bags and you could pour each side separately. I remember that Nintendos Mario/Zelda cereal was also like that.
oh, also I remember dessert cups like that at Kentucky Fried Chicken back then, and I think I know what you mean about store bought ones too. I am also trying to figure out their name.
Famous Amos cookies in my middle school northeast Ohio mid 90s and you climb over people to get a free one!
Good video really had some good memories there even Famous Amos cookies were good. Had some cool memories with some of them and ones that I didn't have the chance to but still knew about.
Act 2 is my go-to popcorn brand.
I used to eat the Pudding Pops and Smurf Berry Cereal.
Act II is great stuff, and yeah, i definitely got down on some lunchables back when i was a kid. Now and again, I'll even grab one while im at the supermarket just because i like the taste of nostalgia.
A+ video!
LOVE IT! What rad snacks!
12:44 I used to have a jester cap very similar to that one!
Great hat!
After eating a jell-o pudding pop, I would just have to lay down and take a nap. They made you so sleepy.
Damn it.
Too soon bro
Did you guys wake sore and walking bull legged too? 😂
Nestle is an evil and greedy company😢
The slick from Lunchables was obviously a choking hazard, so I see their point. Besides it’s WAY more fun to just use your finger…
Or use one of the pepperoni slices.
I love lunchables! Yummy! 😊❤

I think my grandson would love the ranch soda! 😂 Me, no!
Thanks for this! 🥨
I was a fan of Lean Cuisine's Sherried Shrimp & Fettuccine back in the day. And their plates were reusable afterwards back then.
Also dealt with some of Lean Cuisine though mostly now it was meatloaf and pasta or Lasagna parts or whatever it was.
3:48 Reminds me of the documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster (2008), great film!
5:48 This is another great Saturday Morning Cartoon cereal, it was actually a Saturday Morning Cartoon!
When I was an '80s kid, I loved OJ's Cereal.
26 years ago, I married into the family behind one of these brands. They are MILITANT about not letting their own kids and grandchildren anywhere near the products!
I'm not going to ask which one (I'm not rude), but you have got me wondering now! I have grandkids too!
10:28 Red Bull & Vodka was a popular drink my late year at Doane University!
Can you do a video on Knorr Sides?
Grape Sunny Delight was available when I was a little girl.
I still eat a fair many of these now.
Gargamel didnt want to eat the Smurfs, he wanted them to make gold for himself.
My favorite pop tart is the grape. Its a limited edition type. Think Mcrib.
I used to take Smurf kids vitamins… then they vanished and my mom insisted I take Flintstones instead… which I found disgusting.
People say that Dickel bourbon tastes like Flintstones.
Lean Cuisine still slaps! So good haha
0:07 My hometown has a tank by the Legion Club as a type of monument.
Arnold Schwarzenegger drove a tank for the millitary when he lived in Austria.
The secret ingredient to Puddin Pops™ is chloroform.
Or something else. A little grapey.
😂
Nuhuh

Qualudes... definitely qualudes...
Those chocolate & vanilla swirl Pudding Pops were my JAM. I miss them so much😭
Edited to add: on my way to Amazon to see if I can find that DIY kit!
10:23 I used to drink Diet Coke With Lime constantly also.
Jack & Coke is one of my favorite all-time drinks, not far behind a dirty vodka martini.
What about Fruit Roll Ups?
God I miss those
The McCain deep and delicious chocolate cake was awesome too.
12:13 It is really fun to just buy a box of unique Rocket Fizz sodas and to try them out!
I miss pudding pops.
Can you do a video in captain ds and long john silvers
I would always spread the Lunchables pizza sauce with the emptied sauce packet itself.
Lunchables were nasty. I don't see why people liked them.
@@misterhat5823 I ate pretty much straight up garbage as a kid for sure. I wouldn't touch them now.
If you're not sure, I'll tell you, The Smurfs are actually Gnomes with blue skin.
Eating ANOTHER Weird History meal!
Eating CAP'N CRUNCH"S CRUNCH BERRIES*...while watching this Weird History video!

What?
I am kinda surprised you didn't mention how Wally had to sell the company in 1985, and when he restarted he had to call his new cookie company "The Uncle Noname's Cookie Company", because "Famous Amos" was a part of the company he sold.

Weird History Foods, please note the corporation ConAgra is pronounced like two separate words: con-AGra. Not Conahgra
I noticed the same thing. I'm glad someone else caught it too.
I spent the 80s on a Mountain Dew drip.
I wish Chocolites would return, those were awesome
Working in Diet Coke seemingly just to insult Michael Jackson was an odd choice. In addition, quoting anything from Vanity Fair as "facts" about him is very far removed from reality.
good video
9:50 Yes MJ was an alcoholic.
I miss the short-lived movie-themed breakfast cereals like C3-P ohs...
Stauffers is now a member of the Nestle group
Idk how gross they look those lunchable pizzas were great
So Pop Tarts were originally named after the Pop Art movement and not from how they 'pop' up out of the toaster? Hmm.
Kraft owns Oscar Mayer
11:30 Jack, from the channel REACT, is a hardcore fan of ranch and likes ranch soda.
Jack drank Ranch soda on the short video Jack Tries Ranch Soda For The First Time!
Hunh... more of them are technically food than I thought would be.
9:13 I have drank outrageous amounts of Diet Coke, I often drink it all the time!
I really don’t know why anyone thinks lean cuisine’s are healthy they’re loaded with salt.
Coke with wine sounds like a great idea
In all my life I've never heard ConAgra said that weird way.
5:38 How was Stouffer’s a competitor when they made Lean Cuisine. I mean Stouffer’s is clearly written on the box!!!!
Can you guys do a video on Veep the lemon lime soda?
Glad there aren't as many comments harping on the voiceover. In fact, I would like to make her acquaintance. 👍
It's hard to believe Red Bull has been around since the 80's...back in 2000, a friend of mine bought a can of it off a "legal drugs" website, and it was the first time any of us had heard of it. By 1983 I was only eating meat and dairy so none of this duck food appealed to me.
ConAgra is pronounced both of the letter a pronounced as it is in "magazine". Anybody who has lived in Omaha, Nebraska (their corporate HQ) can tell you that.
Im hooked on Diet Coke!😊
I would love to see Keebler's Pizzaria's make a come back.
That is my #1 Lost Food!
The taste of the "Cola" soda in the Lunchables was horrid but we still enjoyed it
I am surprised we haven't all died from eating that stuff in the 80s...
The original energy drink Jolt cola. There is a video idea whatever happened to Jolt cola.
You know, I didn’t really like this narrator but she’s giving me real WatchMojo vibes. Legendary potential.
Bring back diagonally cut Pop Tarts! Never knew they wxisted before.
I ate a cupcake recently with blue dye. Only it turned my poop green not blue.
