I've found that one of the best things about getting dentures is I haven't burned my mouth on pizza since.

Suddenly I'm back in 2002 watching Adult Swim and munching on Bagel Bites with Tony Hawk.
I've never had a bagel bite. Not a bagel person, so I never gave them a second glance. The situation will be remedied by tomorrow.

@@djjackson-pickett7558 Yup. I did try them and I was disappointed. The concept is sound and has potential but Bagel Bites are actually just meh. I feel like I could make my own version of bagel bites and they'd be pretty good.
I almost never eat Bagel Bites or Pizza Rolls now and I rarely ate them as a kid, either. I'd much rather just eat real pizza.

I like to use English muffins, top it with marinara, lots of toppings and real cheese!
Yes, pretty much any bread can be pizzafied, I like pizza panini; spread each half of the panini with sauce, put cheese and toppings on one side with any other topping, sandwich together and cook in a panini press.
I think that's the original going back to the 60's, maybe even earlier. Bagel Pizza wasn't invented, it evolved from English Muffin Pizza.
@@TheOtherBill Mom made them for me back in the 70's and I'm still making them. The trick is to toast the engllish muffins first. It keep the marinara from making them soggy.
I rarely ate Bagel Bites, but I do have a fond memory of my children's almanac that had a recipe for homemade toasted pizza bagels. Though I wasn't never the hugest fan of the little pepperoni cubes, instant cheese pizza or regular pizza from the restaurant always hit the right way.
I wonder if that kid love for pizza persists today, stuff like this built childhoods 🥲

I LOVE BAGEL BITES! I am careful not to eat too many or eat them EVERY day though [usually when we have nothing else to eat]. Still hoping for a Weird History Food episode on Jack In The Box restaurant and a Weird History Food episode on Domino's Pizza!

We were making our own pizza bagels long before they did. Along with french bread pizza, toast pizza, English muffin pizzas, tortilla pizza, cracker pizza, etc. You throw cheese and sauce on anything that was like bread. It was such an easy thing and a little kid could handle making their own for a snack. We never even considered buying the frozen versions when they came out. They didn't really save you money or time. And they didn't taste as good. Bagel bites appealed to people who didn't know what a real bagel or pizza really was.

Bagel bites were my go to after school snack back when I was a kid, I was addicted.
This will only make sense to viewers of a certain age, but if you remember the song "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard, I used to combine it with the Bagel Bites theme. The chorus partially says "freak in the morning, freak in the evening..." So I added "freak at supper time! When you get freaky on a bagel you can get freaky anytime!" I was like eleven so, yeah. I still chuckle sometimes. I have my own renditions of a lot of songs, honestly

The biggest take away is that you can eat pizza, anytime! It's true, try it. Domino's even delivers until midnight.
I was a fan of Bagel Bites before the Hawk man started hawking them but when they teamed up - I was like "wow, two of my favorite things", skateboarding and bagel bites. Ore-Ida filled my childhood with things that would burn the roof of my mouth...if I didn't let them "cool off". We would get those little red boxes of Ore-Ida fries, oh man, throw one of those in the microwave and when it's done, throw some ketchup (Heinz of course) in the box and shake it up, eat with a fork (if you're civilized). Those were nice. When I got to middle/high school, they changed the box to a flat, larger box, and by that time, I was taking them out of the box and putting them in the oven. Bagel Bites were not for the microwave, though, maybe a convection oven or the actual oven but not the microwave....I like a little crispness to my bites and you don't get that with the microwave - or you do and you also get dried out bread... I also will cook soup in a sauce pan on a stove top before I microwave it, given the choice. Why settle for lesser quality because you're lazy?
I've tested Domino's many a drunk night at 11:55 pm. Sure, they would be pissed, but I made sure to tip the driver at least $10 for a $7.99 pie.

Use to eat them all the time in late 90s early 2000s. Now I have a teenage daughter that likes them and wow. They really skimp on the cheese now! Lucky to have 10 tiny cubes on each bite. After melted all you see is tomato sauce still😂
I miss these. They got rid of them in Canada. On sale, they made a nice snack that you could get microwaved in 90 seconds.

Back in elementary school, I used to make "pizza bagels" for lunch by putting leftover spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese on an egg bagel and putting it in the toaster oven. I lived two blocks away from the school and was allowed to go home for lunch.
We used to get pizza bagels for lunch in elementary school back in the 80's.

I used to eat bagel bites but I stopped cause whenever I would bite into one my mouth would hurt cause the base would be so hard even after heating them up.
Sometimes it is better to just walk away from things and go back to them later when you’re in a better frame of mind.
I don't understand all these comments about Bagel Bites burning your mouth. From my experience, the cheese was either still frozen or if I tried to microwave them longer to melt the cheese, the bagel became harder than a diamond.

I have literally never heard the jingle until now, and I was eating bagel bites in the 90s.
My mother was making French bread pizza, pizza bagels, and english muffin pizzas for us since the 70's. She always found a way to put the least amount of effort into cooking for us.
Totino's were around a LOT longer ago than what this video says; it's just that they were called Jeno's Pizza Rolls in the late 80s/early 90s and they were absolutely great! I believe it was a brand change or a business purchase that moved Jeno's to Totino's.
I used to work at a plumbing place right next to the bagel bites factory in fort Myers when they would start making them things in the morning it would make the whole neighborhood smell like bagel bites

The Cheeseburger Bagel Bites were the best. They came with a frozen dollop of ketchup on top. I wish they'd bring them back! I wrote to the company like 10 years asking them to bring them back. They just sent me coupons.
I got some bagel bites a few months back cause I wanted to try them again and I cooked them in the microwave wasn’t as good I remembered. Maybe it’s better in the oven

Was a fan of Bagel Bites then, and I wouldn't turn them down now. But I will easily admit I forgot all about the "popular" jingle and for good reason, it was not worth remembering. If you were/are a fan of the jingle then you were/are a fan of the jingle, I'm not one to hate on the opinions of others, but after hearing it again in this video I instantly realized why I did not remember it; the jingle was annoying and trife. However, I do remember the Tony Hawk endorsements. They were pretty funny, especially because of the seemingly contradictory aspect of Tony Hawk saying that he was not willing to share.
