My Grandpa made a special egg nog that was the talk of the neighborhood. On Christmas morning folks would show up at the his door, asking my Grandma, "Has Mr. Reed made his egg nog yet?" My Mom made an egg nog punch garnished with scoops of vanilla ice cream.😋🥚🍶🍷

I made an egg nog pannukakku (Finnish pancake) this weekend. I also made a brown sugar rum sauce to go with it. The nog isn't the easiest ingredient to bake with, but the flavor is worth the effort.
Holy hell...im genuinely upset I'm just now hearing about this...after 45 yrs! All that y'all said sounds effin awesome. Im off to learn more about this delicious treat...
My recipe if anyone wants it Eggnog pannukakku: 2c old fashioned eggnog 6tbsp butter 3 eggs 1/2 sugar Salt Vanilla Dash of Cinnamon Dash of Nutmeg Preheat oven to 350° and place cooking pan with 6tbsps inside. Combine all other ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Once the oven is to temp and the butter is sizzling, swish the butter around the pan so it's fully coated and then pour in the batter. Bake for 40-45min and then finish on broil till desired brownness is reached. Remove from oven and transfer to a plate to cool. Slice and serve. This will be a little more custardy than a normal pannukakku, and it doesn't rise quite as well because of the cream in the eggnog. It's still very good. If you make it to impress, I suggest grinding fresh nutmeg, it's a big difference.
In Germany the equivalent would be "Eier Likör". It is sold all year round. More popular with older people and some pour it over ice cream. It doesn't have the spices though. Only eggs, sugar and maybe vanilla.
I LOVE egg nog, and have done so ever since I was a kid, probably due to the sugar content, even though I could only have the non-alcohol version back then. I am retired now and look forward to it every Christmas season, WITH alcohol. I found a decent variety in my local package store that has bourbon in it. It was a hit a party I attended at Thanksgiving and I hope to get some more soon. It is addictive. I have never had home-made, but I may try to make some soon. thanks for the video - Merry Christmas!
I like it with fireball since fireball has a cinnamon taste already. Also I tried to make egg nog once and it did not turn out well. I'm absolutely sure that I messed up somewhere, probably in the mixing area. Also I used whole eggs instead of only using certain amounts of egg whites and yolks so that probably didn't help.
Dang, the editing on this video is insane! Fantastic references (Townsends, Frontier Patriot, Max Miller)! Added to which, our favorite narrator! Merry Christmas, Weird!
I love it and it's so easy to make. A few years ago a group of us made some about 45 days before Christmas, and it was so strong that even on Christmas it was still a bit bitey. The following year we made it in the summer and then tried our best to let it age in the back of the fridge until 6 months. Some of it did make it that long and it was much smoother, but kind of dangerous because you didn't realize how much alcohol was in it.
There's a convenience store located in Upstate NY and part of Vermont and it actually does sell egg nog year round because it's so much in demand. They have the best egg nog, it's seriously an award winner. The store is called Stewart's. You won't believe how good it is.

But there's something just amazing about that first sip of eggnog that can't be beat

When I was growing up in the 1960’s, I delighted in making eggnog in our Kenmore blender. Eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Loved it! Now, I wouldn’t touch the stuff!
This was great except one weird bit of info. You said egg nog is served hot. I'm 43, grew up in Florida with roots in Chicago and Alabama. Out of those cultures, and the 43 years interacting with others I have not once ever seen egg nog served hot. So now I'm wondering is that an old dead traditional manner of serving egg nog or have I somehow unintentionally avoided hot egg nog drinkers for 43 years‽
I've been an eggnog and history enthusiast for 40 years, and this is the first I've ever heard of hot eggnog. In olden times, many farm families served it cold as a summer treat, and I've only ever heard of it being served cold. "Hot eggnog" sounds as nonsensical to me as hot Coca Cola or a hot milkshake!
@@johnmorgan8127 I believe the flavor of the yolks are more prevalent and not so much like a pudding, It might be because I was raised with egg nog as a cold drink and am prejudiced due to custom
Pfft. The Egg Nog Riot reminds me of that one time Eric Cartman got the men of South Park drunk on S'mores Schnapps and attempted to bring about the return of the Confederacy
I am definitely a nog kind of person. I love you finished my second container of it a couple days ago and I live alone cause it’s a small container and it was through the lactate company therefore make it lactate free, therefore not negatively affecting my stomach because I love eggnog that being said, I’m not gonna drink versions of it with lactate in it it’s good, but it’s not that good, especially since the perfectly good forms of it without lactate and maybe not addiction but it’s become a borderline addiction. This is mine with me I need to go out tomorrow and get some more lol
Us Puerto Ricans have a drink that is very similar to this called Coquito. But i dont recommend everyone to try it since its extremely sugary and heavy.

When I was growing up in the 1960’s, I delighted in making eggnog in our Kenmore blender. Eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Loved it! Now, I wouldn’t touch the stuff!
Good video as always
Creme de cacao in eggnog is fabulous!
My egg nog, like I followed from an early 1800s recipe is UNCOOKED. The heat changes the flavor
what is the flavor like compared to cooked egg nog?
@@johnmorgan8127 I believe the flavor of the yolks are more prevalent and not so much like a pudding, It might be because I was raised with egg nog as a cold drink and am prejudiced due to custom
good video
Pfft. The Egg Nog Riot reminds me of that one time Eric Cartman got the men of South Park drunk on S'mores Schnapps and attempted to bring about the return of the Confederacy
Eggnog is available all year. I see it in the stores all year...
Eggnog is delicious!
4:08 Should buy the Franzia Backpack that was showcased in the Weird Food video!
Nog is great with Bailey's.
I and a NOG LOVER! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Great video.
Thank you !
