  • Monster is the brand new 2021 B&M Invert located at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden. It's a fantastic ride, showcasing many different qualities while swooping over pathways and providing thrills of another league.
It's the third of the second generation of B&M Inverts, being in the same category as Kings Island's Banshee and Parc Astérix' OzIris.

As you mentioned in the video, the theming of monster is like a combination of a metro station and some “monster aspects”. The theming of the ride is actually based on an urban legend in Stockholm: when the subway was brand new in Stockholm there was plans to build a subway station under Djurgården in Stockholm. But when the building of the station stated it suddenly and mysteriously stopped, and no one in the general public to this day knows why. So the urban legend goes that the builders of the station awakened a long forgotten monster in the earth beneath Djurgården. Thats where the theming comes from :)

SO glad to see B&M still making Inverts and also using the original over-the-shoulder restraints. They allow you to experience the forces so much better.
edit: The lights on the bottom of the train at night just top it off even better, wow.

6:44 - "This actually gives some very very good floater airtime...". I felt that watching the video! 🦋

Monster was a great introduction for my friend who has never gone upside down on any rides before 👍

the thing you mentioned with the subway looking station, monster was built in an abandoned subway station that was abandoned because they found "unnatural creatures" which is where it got its name, Monster.

There is a very similar airtime hill on Afterburn after it does the batwing element. You come out of it and go through an airtime hill over the station before the final corkscrew. It's my favorite invert byfar!

Just rode this 3 times today! Probably the most unique Invert I've ridden, certainly the one with the most variety. I still prefer most of the large scale Inverts (Montu, Banshee, Afterburn, Raptor), but I think this is my #5 Invert overall. The first drop is great and the variety of forces was a nice change of pace from all the other Inverts I've been on.

I may not have ridden Monster but IIRC I have 3 B&M Invert credits. Nemesis, Nemesis Inferno, and Batman Arkham Asylum at Parque Warner. Monster looks like just my kind of ride, the other inverts I've ridden are frankly a bit too forceful for my liking. The only exception oddly being Nemesis. That one is incredibly forceful in places but it also features like little breaks in the high up turns giving you the ability to catch your breath. I found that to not at all be the case on Inferno (though I wasn't feeling too well the day I went to Thorpe park anyway) and Arkham Asylum I thought also was a tad too intense for my liking even if it balanced it better. Monster seems suited right to my kind of taste, being intense but not too much so, and giving some good breathers in the junior immelmann and panorama turn.

I’ve ridden a fair few inverts, and honestly, I don’t think I would put this in the bottom or even the bottom five.
I think that it offers a well rounded and intense experience with a fantastic setting and a unique ride experience.
Anyways, my ranking of the inverts I’ve ridden.
    1 : Montu
    2 : Afterburn
    3 : Banshee
    (big gap)
    4 : Raptor

In fairness, it’s still a great ride, and I did ride it when it was morning in order to avoid the waits.
However, it felt like all of its elements were done better on other coasters, there was long stretches between the elements, and the ride had no terrain interaction like Montu or Afterburn.
Still a great ride, but it’s a bit overhyped and is at the bottom of my top 25.

@@iwillfalchonkickyourmom.5430 Ah, I see. That actually makes complete sense, especially with the terrain and the stretches between elements. I never thought about that.
Top 25 still noice tho! How many credits did you have?

I’ve been to Carowinds, Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Tampa, Kings Island, Dollywood, and a couple Disney/Universial parks when I was a little piss goblin.
I don’t know what was my first coaster exactly,
but I think I have 45 credits or so.
However I have ridden some elite coasters like Steel Vengeance, Iron Gwazi, Fury 325, Lightning Rod, Maverick, and Montu. So it’s pretty stacked up there 😉

This was my first coaster that goes upside down ive went on. It was so fun. im not scared of rollercoasters anymore cuz of it. went on it 4 times. such a great ride. love it cuz its so different. last time we went on it we where at the back. it really felt like ejector, idk if it was tho.

Unpopular opinion, but this kinda reminds me of nemesis inferno at thorpe park. They both have 7 rows and both sort of fly over pathways and have similar lengths.
The only difference is that inferno has an extra loop and looks to have a tad more bite to it, but monster definitely exceeds by being very innovative!

I’d say that this coaster is more about experiencing 0g, and flying above the city like Batman saving the day. It’s a good “my first intense/bigger coaster”.
