- At the 2021 Masters Tournament, Hideki Matsuyama broke through to become Japan’s first male major champion. But for long before then, he has been a “senpai” for the generation of Japanese golf behind him. This week at Augusta National, the fruits of the Japan Golf Association’s labor is coming to fruition with two countrymen joining Matsuyama - Takumi Kanaya and Keita Nakajima - proving that Japanese golf is wholly on the rise.

I am Japanese. Thank you for making this wonderful video.
Thank you for the official PGA video.
日本人には限りなく難しいと思われてたメジャーの扉を松山が開けてくれたから、他のプロも可能性を信じて続いてほしい。
応援してます。

I wonder if more talented Japanese golf players could have been found if they could have opportunities for them to play on a nice golf course or to have these cutting edge technology or a personal trainer/coach as most know golf isn’t an affordable sport unless you have someway on paying the expenses. The reason I say this is I have met many talent players in the past who quit because of these limitations. What could these players do in order to go around these factors. As a lot of golf players don’t have these resources that these young Japanese golfers have in the video.
Matsuyama-san seems good Senpai. Japanese have strong culture of Jedi and Padawan. I like it but sometimes it kills younger generation so all Senpai(s) should be careful…
It’s the worse. I just made NEW CLEATS for the PGA. Unbeatable. New Balance Golf Cleats
"...that's racist, man!"
