For the past 20 years I would travel to Japan almost every month, because of my business. And have learned and admired the culture of Japan and how hard the people work and struggle for the sake of Japan and not for ones own wants. So when Hideki won, I shedded a tear. I especially was proud to see Hideki's caddie showing respect by BOWING on the 18th green toward the fairway and the golf course. Pure Class.

I was so happy to see him win the masters especially after him being in the lead at the 2020 players championship, the last event that began before the global lockdown began. Even though it was one round, I personally believed he should've been declared the champion. He fully deserved his masters win and I am so proud of him and very excited to see him at the Olympics as well

I remember Aoki back in the day. I followed him and Nicklaus around when they were paired at the US Open in Winged Foot. He was a pioneer.

Japan had great players like Aoki and golf was very popular until the 90s. I had to start golf because my company had a rule that everyone goes out for golf once a year (company paid). When it was popular, one round of golf was so expensive I thought it was not worth the money. I was so upset for paying about 400 dollars, when my salary was only 1,800, for one round including all the expenses. I don't know what happened after I quit but golfing became unpopular and prices fell dramatically. I ask why golf was so popular back then and most people say there were not so many entertainment to choose from. Due to the pandemic and taking care of old parents, I picked up golf again 2 years ago. I am so happy for Matsuyama but I don't want prices to go up again.

I think a mention of Okamoto Ayako would have been appropriate regarding Japanese golfers who made good in the USA. She won 17 LPGA titles, and was the money leader in 1987. I used to watch her on NEC Super Golf on Sunday nights in the 80's, and I personally felt she had the most beautiful swing in the world.

I’m really happy to see Hideki win. Great for him and Japan. But let’s be real about pro athletes- they inspire a lot of people but only a few people will ever be winning pro athletes.
