    Mortal Kombat II arcade restoration CPO, CP, Joysticks and Buttons. In the video we will install a reproduction Mortal Kombat II control panel overlay (cpo) using rapidtac and the wet method. Then we will populate the control panel with HAPP buttons and some joysticks. Also we will compare the Happ Competition Joysticks vs the IL EUROJOYSTICK from Paradise Arcade. Supposedly the HAPP joysticks were made by IL and they had a falling out and HAPP moved production to CHINA. So, they are not the same as the old joysticks that Mortal Kombat had in the 90s. The IL EUROJOYSTICKS are suppose to the same as those old 90s joysticks. We will also screw the Mortal Kombat Plexi Glass Lexan to the wood control panel.

    Mortal Kombat II the Arcade the internet re-built :) really neat that everyone pitched in for this one, i played a ton of times on one of these, so seeing one that was gutted was not a pleasant look. Well, at least i knew that with you buying it, it's going to get a lot, lot better.

    I'm restoring a Smash TV that was converted to an Ultracade. The metal plate for the control panel was missing and I couldn't locate a replacement. After I gave up, I used a piece of laminate in place of the metal, but covered it in lexan. Little choice, unless I could have a metal shop cut one. Turned out really good, even thought it's a compromise. Of a genuine piece turns up for me, I'll rebuild it with the correct part. Cool project. Lots of parallels in technique between STV and MK2.

    Hey John, those IL joysticks are really the way to go. Also, looks like you still need another trim piece which runs along the top of the control panel and rests against the bottom monitor glass bracket. It's a standard Midway cab piece so you should be able to find it pretty easily.

    Great to see the MK2 restoration under way. The Isopropyl and Magic Eraser is pretty amazing, but you might want to wear some gloves if you decide to use that method for a whole cabinet. The alcohol will dry out your skin and make it crack.

    Great to see the MK2 restoration happening. Really looked forward to this. Just to let you know that the control panel is missing a bracket where it meets the bezel. There are 4 or 5 screw holes along the edge on the underside where it attaches to the wood. I don't know if it's an easy part to come by. I'm building an MK 2 control panel from scratch and that is the only piece I don't have. I'm sure someone will be able to hook you up with though.

    wow man, I was just playing MKII at a barcade a few weeks ago! (I did remember my fave fatality, Liu Kang's Dragon Transformation -- at about a step back from your opponent, D,F,B,B,HK) definitely one of my favorites in the series.
    UGH, 'previous owner' damage.... when I won the Gunblade NY some six years ago after I finally got it I noticed the power cord didn't have the little grounding prong on it, it was snapped off! I was having some other issues with it but I wanted to have it addressed asap so I had a friend help with replacing the plug. so I feel you on having to clean up a mess from the last guy that had the game.
    The sideart, now that won't be as big a deal as the Jump Bug, right?
    But I'm looking forward to the next episode of this restore, definitely one of my favorite 90s fighters!

    Hey John, Don't take that CP apart to fix that white edge. Just take a sheet of construction paper, cut off a long 1/8th inch strip of it and shove it in there. Maybe a little dab of glue on the ends to make it stay. Seems like a simple fix.

    As *essential* as it is to have a MKII cab ;) there's something about having an original Gun Dealer cab (just looked it up!) that's far more exotic, in more ways than one... I expect they just used a generic one but who knows, maybe there was something unique about it.

    I just picked up a couple cabinets for $75 the other day and one of them was a MKII cabinet that someone butchered as well. I'm going to try to get it back to it's original glory again since I am a huge MK fan. I have the CP but someone drilled a hole in the middle of it to put a trackball and turned it into a World Class Bowling arcade - makes me wanna scream. I'm going to try to revert what they did, should be able to do it. I do need to find the PCB, CP art as well as the rest of the artwork and the marquee. Hopefully this isn't going to be too big of a pain to find that stuff.

BUT I would love these videos to have a bit more digestible size versions or be cut up into smaller versions. Over and hour+ for each video is a big bite to take for a person with a bit of free time out of the day. If you had a "Highlights" version of each restore or repair that would be awesome as a second option.

  • @namek1925
    @namek1925 8 лет назад

    I remember there being two different versions of MK2 for the cpu charters in the arcade. The second one being really hard and to the point that the cpu keeps charging forward. The first version did not do this and you could get farther in the game also with the babalities/friendships you could do multiple ones in a row for fun. I think it also would say the version in the title screen. This is was what i remembered when i was a kid and to this day i never seen the first version. I figure maybe they figured the glitch out and made the game harder since you put quarters in it to make you spend more. If anyone can elaborate on this it be great. I would say the first version was more fun for single player mode and would be the version id want.
