Sacred Mayan Journey

The annual Sacred Mayan Journey in the Riviera Maya is a celebration of Mayan culture and tradition. Canoeists paddle from Bahia Dos Playas at Xcaret Park to the island of Cozumel as a form of worship towards the goddess Ixchel. This 24-mile roundtrip arduous journey begins and ends with a celebration to which all are invited.

I just learned of this tonight and I would love to witness it. Hopefully the pandemic will ease and the event will return in 2022 during the last third of the month of May when I will be staying within a very short distance of the park.
