I think it is the hardware issue, the best would be you contact OTR performance tech support to see if they can support you.
Why would these battery banks have DC to DC charger? Lightning Volt says that’s not required I thought.
It really depends on the setup and design of your system! If you have a separate battery bank, and you will need a DC to DC charger or equivalent to charge the batteries from the starting battery bank.
Is there a smart switch so you can use for the other set of batteries after the main 4 go down?
The smart switch is for when you don't have enough volts in your APU batteries to stop the use of the APU and it wont use your main Batteries... The main batteries is for starting the truck...

You don't need at all DC to DC. I had 400ah AGM and 400ah lithium batteries parallel connected for 2 years on my 2016 volvo 730 (800000mil factory alternators). I never had issues with the alternator (unles, you have some low power alternator. Any alternator over 150A will charge without any issues. Now I have 2024 freightliner cascadia with 400ah AGM and 700ah lithium batteries parallel connected and no issues at all. Plus, it's keeping your truck batteries (lead acid) full all the time and extremely extended lead acid batteries life because lithium batteries standby voltage are 13.2v vs lead acid 12.8v so when truck isn't running power goes from lithium to lead acid batteries less then 5A.
Plus, i have APU on my truck with 90A alternator, and even 90A alternator are charging with no issue at all .
Most of the time, DC to DC is a waste of money plus takes way more time to charge lithium batteries .
Ryan. does that Polar EAPU heat too ?? since i am Canadian. I need heating in the truck?
Would you recommend adding solar panels for the EPU or adding an APU to recharge batteries? Looking for a solution when I have to take a 34 reset.
8 batteries will get you through the 34 hr reset, or you can add solar panels or a plug to charge the battery at the truck stop.

@truckingandfixing what kind of warranty is provided on those? I'd plan on running them on a KIMS system that came with the truck but I do a lot of I-40 and below trucking so they'll get used and abused trying to stave off the +100° days.
