The Green APU is the best APU out there. Parts are very easy to obtain, any auto parts store will be able to get them or have them in stock. Great unit, check them out.
I had a diesel tri pac apu at one of my old companies but here I have a Green APU and holy crap this thing has almost double the cooling power compared to the tri pac
The owner of the company I work for now has a green APU on his truck and he doesn't like it. It's strange how one person can love something and another person can have entirely different experience with the same product
@@truckertoddllc hmmmm I wonder why he doesn’t like it? The TriPac has like 13,000 BTU of cooling power and the GreenAPU has 24,000 BTU… I got a 2023 T680 and it keeps my sleeper an ice box
@bsannar That's a great question. I didn't go into great detail with him about it, but I'll ask him and let you know what he says, probably in an upcoming video
I have an ecoflow wave2 battery powered portable air conditioner $1500 and ecoflow solar generator $1000 for some extra battery power and option to charge with solar. I usually just charge it when I'm driving down the road and the alternator is running anyway. It doesn't completely eliminate idling but cuts it down by about 90%.. The best part is I can take this setup with me if a change trucks or want to use it somewhere else.
No it was the weekend. There's only like a few Thermo kings in the country that are open on the weekend. Probably won't have time to get it fixed until I get to Lubbock on Thursday or Friday
@truckertoddllc thanks! one more random question, so this truck has an EPU. Would it be possible to plug the truck into itself( the block heater) and everything still be kosher? Or is that like an inverter type of situation? I haven't gotten a reliable answer from anyone yet lol
@truckertoddllc eh that makes sense lol. They would have already factored that in with like a switch on the dash or something. That would probably drain the battery so quick with all the watts it needs.
So I just want to put my experience with having a TriPac APU vs Idling a Rental Unit I had. Obviously idling the trucks engine isn't good for it, but I did idle it at 900rpm just to rid of any Oil Pressure concerns I had with it. My 2024 Freightliner had to go in for an Oil Leak, that has the TriPac APU on it. I personally think the temperature control is finnicky as I can never get it to be the 'right' temperature control. I don't understand why they don't add a Thermostat type system like there reefer's have. Set it to a certain temperature, and it will keep it around that. The rental unit I had was a 2019 Cascadia with, you guess it, no APU, and NO INVERTER. I had to idle that truck overnight, and I thought I was going to hate it (I would, if it was my own truck). However I slept better idling the truck's engine, it seemed quieter (except when it did the mandatory 8-hour idle regen), I was able to keep it at a certain temperature, Never got too cold, never got warm inside the sleeper. The APU unit I have on my normal unit seems to be really loud. Constantly gets loud when there is an AC load on it. It constantly changes RPM it's running at. It's right behind the sleeper wall, and these new trucks seem to have little to no insulation or sound deadening based on how loud it can seem. I slept so much better with just idling the truck as the APU seems to wake me up here and there. But is it nice being back in MY truck that was assigned to me? Hell yes it is. My bed. My TV, my fridge, and my microwave.
Its 71 degrees facing the sun and this EPU can barely keep the truck cool its march 19 2024 Fontana ca. Gonna quit this company if it doesn't get colder
@truckertoddllc Going to take it to freightliner in Southern California tomorrow.Because I can't imagine being in phoenix arizona when it's 110.. truck is two weeks old

Another thing with the GREEN APU THE BELT IS A SERPENTINE BELT IT SELF AJUST
It's a serpentine belt on my Thermo King too. The older ones had two belts but mine just has one I believe
Missed the live on Thursday dang it,I'll watch it on replay
Thanks my friend I really appreciate it
I was in a 2016 Freightliner that had the ParkSmart system, I really liked it.
I hate Freightliner Opti-Idle. Im use to APU and EPU. I’m ready to rig up a portable AC unit and use that.
I had a Rigblaster APU it couldnt keep up in the summer heat and it kept throwing belts. It finally smoked out the truckstop wasnt worth fixing
Yeah it's amazing how many of them seem to have belt problems

He cooks and uses a lot of AC power in the truck. Apparently the alternator on the Green APU doesn't put out as much power as the others.
Difference between Owner of a company and a Driver

That does sound like a pretty good setup
Thanks for the info, great content

You still haven’t been able to find a belt 😂

Mateo Light
Does the APU keep the block and coolant warm during winter?
Depends on how you option it and set it up. Most do. However in extreme cold weather I would still idle

@PhucYuBich nope I tried it once out of curiosity LOL

I wonder if there’s something wrong with it, it should be performing better than that

It’s been a while
Yes sir but I'm going to try to change that and put more recorded content out as well. It's just hard to do as much as I'm working right now
@@truckertoddllc oh I know. I wondered how you drove, did round table, Thursday videos and recorded videos lol.
